They don’t care about lost/mishandled baggage

Flew business class Liverpool to Chicago via Dublin but they didn’t send my bag on the same plane in Dublin. It was subsequently delivered to O’Hare but not to me. After 3 days of futile emails and phone calls I ended up going to O’Hare to collect it myself as I was leaving Chicago the following day. Subsequent attempts to complain met with silence, lack of response, brick walls and ultimately a ‘form’ email that didn’t do anything to answer my complaint/questions asked. Claims about managing lost baggage on their website are just lies, their system isn’t set up to deliver on the promises. Presume once they have your money they cease caring about the customer experience/service they deliver. Even before I flew out they’d changed times of 2 flights (making them less confident for me) and cancelled one. Never again.

Definitely not recommended!

Definitely not recommended!

The worst customer service ever. Have my baggage delayed for 4 days, just to arrive later zip broken, baggage opened and missing items. They don’t want to compensate though!!!! I am not even sure if their agents are qualified to deal with customers!
I would never recommend the airline. There are much better airlines one could use and be treated in a respectful manner!

Disturbing and anxiety producing

The most disturbing and anxiety, stress inducing trip I have EVER taken. Customer service? Rude, disrespectful and completely unprofessional. I missed a connecting flight due to a booking error on their part, was forced to spend 24 hours by myself overnight in dirty JFK airport without having been offered a hotel stay- no sleep, no food, homeless people sleeping in the chairs and picking out of garbage cans. The aer lingus representative who answered my phone call at 9:30 pm (when I was trying a last ditch effort to get a boarding pass and get on the connecting flight) -who said he was a MANAGER- offered me another flight for $3000+! I had aleady paid $1200 months earlier for this trip. When I asked him why and said that I do not have that kind of money, he told me that maybe I should just "save my money then and go back to Denver". He then said that "clearly I can't help you and I am disconnecting this call", and hung up on me. All of this while I was bawling my eyes out and begging for assistance. The next night at 10pm I was finally granted a flight out and had to pay an additional $200 for "baggage related expenses." My baggage, btw, NEVER made it to Ireland. It got shipped back to my house a week later in Denver- BROKEN.
After months of correspondence with customer service to attempt to recover my various losses and complaints, I have been met with "we are sorry for your inconvenience, but cannot help you". And one representative went so far as to tell me that my phone call with the "manager" I spoke with that night was made up by me and did not align with their information. Disguting and traumatic emotional abuse with no compassion for my experience, no accountability for their errors that caused it, and absolutely no resolution.

I would rather them No stars as I…

I would rather them No stars as I believe they are not interested in resolving customers complaints. My outward and return flight were delayed, baggage lost, returned 4 days later and dumped outside my house in the rain, shitty abusive attitude from the handler. I complained and submitted all the forms, receipts etc etc and eventually after 6 weeks back and forth, customer service or Lack of Customer Services and denied my small claim for food and toiletries as they claim my receipt is not itemized !
I really expected more from Air Lingus and this definitely cements my opinion that I will not fly with them again.

The worst airline experience we've ever…

The worst airline experience we've ever had.
Our journey with Aer Lingus was a catalogue of poor organisation, poor communication and poor customer service from start to finish.
We arrived three hours before our flight, only to be turned away from check-in. When we returned there was just one desk checking in around four flights while bag drop passengers were continually prioritised, despite many of us being unable to check in online due to Aer Lingus' own system issues. The queue became so frustrating that passengers actually applauded whenever someone was finally called forward.
When we eventually reached the desk, the customer service was shocking. We weren't greeted, offered an apology or even treated with basic courtesy. Instead, I was sarcastically asked, "You seem shirty, what's wrong?" After calmly explaining how stressful the experience had been, I was met with, "So you want to take it out on me?" The interaction became so uncomfortable that I walked away and left my partner to finish checking in.
Things only got worse. We were rushed to the gate by a "final call" announcement only to discover boarding hadn't even started. Before boarding we were unexpectedly pulled aside, photographed, had our details recorded and our autistic son was asked to face a CCTV camera. No explanation was given. As a same-sex family travelling with our son, this left us feeling extremely uncomfortable and caused him significant distress.
After landing in Dublin we received a text saying our connecting flight had been moved until the following day. No guidance was provided by cabin crew and, at the connections desk, there was no apology or empathy—just a hotel voucher. We were then forced to sit and watch the aircraft we were supposed to be on depart before later being told, "You missed your connection." We didn't miss it—Aer Lingus failed to get us onto it.
From there we had to ask every question ourselves about accommodation, transport and meals. Our luggage disappeared, leading to yet another lengthy queue with just one member of staff. Other passengers received information packs explaining what would happen next—we received nothing.
To make matters worse, the hotel had no family room available, meaning our autistic 13-year-old son either had to sleep alone or share a bed with one of his adoptive fathers. Thankfully the hotel staff were wonderful, but this added yet more stress to an already exhausting day.
I understand delays happen. What I cannot accept is the complete lack of communication, organisation, professionalism and empathy shown throughout the entire journey. We lost the first night of our holiday, incurred additional costs and watched our son become increasingly distressed because of the way the situation was handled.
This wasn't simply about a delayed flight—it was about consistently poor customer service at every stage. Aer Lingus has a lot of work to do if this is the standard passengers can expect.

Delayed Luggage

Plane arrived late so we boarded late. Then get on plane and pilot says it will take an hour longer than usual. We miss our connecting flight. When we arrive in Dublin we are told we can get on next flight to Paris that is currently boarding. I asked if our luggage will have time to get on this next flight. I was assured it would. It didn't!!! We arrive in Paris on vacation with no luggage. Paris wasn't our final destination. We drive to our destination. That evening our luggage arrives in Paris but we are hours away. The airline gives out luggage to the Post Office. They do not want to deliver bc the parcels are too big and we are too far away. We have been on vacation for 6 days with no luggage. But we were supposed to leave here 2 days ago for the beach. Can't leave without our luggage. According to Aer Lingus we received our luggage the day they handed them to the Post Office. If they hadn't been so cheap and had paid for a different carrier I'd have my luggage. And I'm told no compensation will be probided. Never flying Aer Lingus again!

CHILD TAX

CHILD TAX: Aer Lingus now charge a what is essentially a "Child Tax". We have three children under the age of 11 years old and did not care where we sit so did not want to pay extra (€55) for specific seats. However Aer Lingus now have a policy of not trying to seat children next to their parents therefore ensuring that parents must pay extra for the seating of each family member.
This was the same for all passengers: another family had their three year old sitting 25 rows away from their parents.
This is terrible

Money Wasted

This airline is a waste of time and if something goes wrong, you can guarantee an incompetent customer support team and false promises at the kiosk. My fiancee was promised a refund on her canceled trip, and it hasn't happened— at least they were able to send her home (on a flight the next day!!). $1,300 spent for inconveniences. I will avoid them at all costs in the future. I’m not surprised by their horrible reviews on here.

Aer Lingus customer service is atrocious

I flew with Aer Lingus for a family holiday to USA and on arrival, my suitcase was nowhere to be seen? Despite being without luggage, I found that Aer Lingus's communication and response time was very poor.
I received my suitcase a day later, at very short notice, but until then I obviously had to make emergency purchases, which were unplanned from holiday funds.
Now Aer Lingus are not reimbursing me exactly what I paid out for emergency purchases. My bank have converted my purchases into GBP, but no, Aer Lingus simply decide what they want to pay and I'm left short changed??????
I contacted their CEO, but obviously she is not interested in customers' woes and simply passes the buck to Aer Lingus's dreadful customer service team!
I then was contacted by a so called specialist in customer service, who was about as much help as a chocolate fire guard.
I then complained about atrocious customer service, but again, another customer service representative simply backed up her colleagues' dreadful handling of my case.
This lot could not spell customer service and Aer Lingus simply do not deserve revenue from members of the paying public, as they do not care!
Do yourself a favour, fly with with another airline.

I usually dont mind flying aerlingus…

I usually dont mind flying aerlingus but my recent flight dublin to SFO just ruined it. I was waiting for my complimentary drink after the flight attendant served the person next to me and almost forgot me. She comes back and asks the stranger next to me whether or not I am travelling with him. Like I am a child?! I then order my drink and she gives the man next to me a third drink and says heres another cause she only got one which she never asked me if i wanted a second or not and walked away honestly the nerve

1 Star

1 Star – Shocking Service and Complete Lack of Empathy. I would give it a 0 if I could!

I am absolutely shocked by the treatment my 74-year-old mother-in-law received. She had special assistance booked for her journey, yet none of it was provided.

Instead of being assisted as promised, she was given incorrect directions and sent to the Liverpool gate instead of the Manchester gate, causing her to miss her Aer Lingus flight. As a result, she was left stranded at the airport overnight until the following morning.

What made this experience even worse was the complete lack of empathy shown by both the staff on the phone and the airport staff. Rather than acknowledging the seriousness of the situation or offering reassurance and support, we were met with an uncaring attitude. Leaving a vulnerable 74-year-old woman alone at an airport at night after failing to provide the assistance she had specifically booked is simply unacceptable.

Special assistance exists for a reason, and passengers who rely on it should be able to travel with confidence. This experience caused unnecessary stress, anxiety, and distress for both her and our family.

Avoid

Avoid. Awful awful experience.

I booked a flight through Kiwi Travel. Air Lingus cancelled the flight a week before I travelled. No alternative was offered. I was left to arrange a flight home at considerable additional expense. I have waited over a month for a refund of my original fare.

How can it be legal to take money for a service that isn’t provided and then not promptly issue a refund?

Aer Lingus 1of 10 flights on time. Unacceptable!

Out of 10 flights in the past 3 months, Aer Lingus has been late 9 times. Lost my luggage once and refuse to refund anything. Two aircraft broke down and had to be replaced.
If you want stress as standard for your journey, book with Aer Lingus. You will miss onward connections. That's a given. Ground staff at Edinburgh airport awful.
Unacceptable service apart from crew onboard who are lovely . The rest of the airline is a joke.
"Sorry for your inconvenience" is not acceptable when the poor service is a trend!

We flew from Geneva to Dublin with Aer…

We flew from Geneva to Dublin with Aer Lingus and it was a total disaster. The flight was overbooked, and the check-in desk offered no help but was rude. We eventually boarded but they had completely mismanaged the seating?!! Upon arrival in Dublin, our luggage was lost, and we joined a long queue of other passengers waiting for missing bags. We found our suitcase the next day, at Dublin Airport, with the airtag; no one was there to help, no one answered the phones, so we couldn't even reach them and had to go back from the airport to the hotel. The following day, we went there again, gave all the details, took pictures, and made calls, only to be told dismissively:"Oh, they're busy." We wasted our trip going back and forth to the airport to try to get a bag! In the end, it was thanks to a different airline(Swissport) that we managed to get our luggage back. Avoid them if you can. If circumstances force you to fly with them, document everything as we did to complain formally.

Dublin to Malaga 25th

Dreadfull experience .Dublin to Malaga 25th. June 8.40am.
Arrived at Dublin Airport went to boarding gate told flight changed to 13.10pm. They knew / planned this flight be combined with the 13.10pm flight to fill that plane. Result was chaotic management, differant directions on where to go, told to collect cases /no don't collect cases ?. Go here opps no go there.
We walked around the Airport for over 2 hours including out through customs and back in again.
It was the customs staff not Aerlingus who helped to get us direction. The ground staff were of no assistance, we the dumped customers/passengers were a bother to them.
The 13.10 flight plane was filthy.
Which means the toilets were not cleaned disgusting behaviour.

Customer Services

I have flown on several occasions to the US from Dublin as the pre clearance is an obvious benefit,on all occasions the experience has been very positive, however and this was no fault of Aer Lingus my last flight to Philly on the 20/05 was diverted to Washington DC due to weather at Philly, to sum up the flight was cancelled at DC and we were offloaded, I made a decision to get an UBER from DC to Philly as my primary aim was to get to my destination ASAP as I was only there for 4 nights, this ended up being the right decision as i received an email next day to confirm that they were unable to arrange onward ground transportation & overnight stay in DC. I placed a claim on the 27/05 and despite calls to an offshore call center (Egypt) & numerous emails that autogenerated a further case number i am still no further forward i have just spoken to there Egypt call centre!!! and it appears they are completely clueless, Ipolitely ended the call and told him I will pursue my claim via the CAA, the irony of it all is that i have just booked another trip to Dallas and prey to Allah that there are no severe weather canx or other misdemeanors that will trigger a further compo claim and waste what time i have left on this Planet..
