Worldpackers is an amazing app that gives you the opportunity to travel around the world on a budget while meeting new people and making unforgettable friendships. It’s also a great way to learn new skills, discover different countries and cultures, and experience local cuisines and ways of life. But what I love most is that the experience goes beyond just traveling, it helps you grow as a person, become more independent and mature, and discover a new version of yourself. Worldpackers is truly an experience that can change the way you see the world and yourself. Highly recommended!

Great experience with the owner of the horse farm. She was extremely polite, respectful, and available to explain to me the task to be accomplished. She is a lovely lady. I suggest that all volunteers visit her horse farm.

To be honest, I was very hesitant about joining a volunteer program. After weeks of research, I decided to choose Worldpackers and I couldn’t make a better decision. My first experience was not as expected but it was the hist fault but the response from the Support team at Worldpackers was incredible. Because of that, I decided to take more offers, because now I know that if something goes wrong, I have their support team to help me out!

the website has potential but it is very difficult to get a good exchange. I applied to work in around 25 different places and was unable to secure any. I think it is risky because it is uncertain whether you will be able to find a place. I basically feel like I threw away 50 euros and a whole lot of time spent on the applications for each place.

I am Nature Lover and solo Traveller. By using Worldpacker platform I visited remote as well as Nature closed destination for Volunteering purpose. If I didn't engage with Worldpacker I never been visited these beautiful and safe places.

If I could give it a NEGATIVE 5 I most definitely would. Do not volunteer with this company because the hostels that come on to it are trying to skirt around labor laws in their own country. They also have terrible customer service that is not quick even if you pay for the membership. I used this stupid platform to go to albania. The hostel i went to has NO paid employee's and is ran ONLY by people from the worldpackers website. The host was aggressive, disrespectful, didn't provide adequate food for 100 degree whether, assigned tasks that required 2 to 3 people, only made women do all the cleaning, made women work double shifts and made women who needed to be in all women dorms due to their hijab stay in mixed dorms and on top of ALL of that we were put in the hottest room in the hostel, with no a/c and fans that barely worked or did not work at all. I only lasted 2 days at the hostel because after the first day of work i told him i would not be able to stay the full 2 month stay i booked with him because the work was too much and I would not be able to do it. He got aggressive and picked a fight with me yelling at the top of his lungs infront of the other volunteers and guests. I lasted 2 days and left, when i put in for the "world packers protection" they told me i should have talked to him about the work and should not have left. EVEN THOUGH i did not feel safe and he was overly aggressive and yelled at me infront of other people. So apparently i should have gotten into another verbal altercation with a man in a different country. When i asked for a supervisor to evaluate the denial Bruna Mendes said her decision is final and there was no need. When i went to do a review, i was denied the opportunity to review the hostel because the hostel owner said i didn't show up. EVEN THOUGH world packers changed my departure date from 10/27 to 08/10. I arrived on 08/07. She said without proof there is nothing she can do. DO NOT USE THIS PLATFORM, IT IS A SCAM AND UNSAFE. I have had more luck finding Amazing hostels and volunteer experiences by reaching out to places directly. It's just a way for people to get free labor and the company does not protect you when things go wrong. They don't even ensure you are in a suitable livable accomodation. They also remove or don't let you review hostels honestly.

Eloah was very helpful throughout a very difficult and long process with my situation with a host! Very fast response time and amazing explanations of everything of what to do step by step! Worldpackers provides amazing support and help throughout volunteer experiences and I will 100% recommend it to anyone looking to have a safe and enjoyable experience while volunteering!

Most of my volunteer positions have been great. Hosts were great, work as agreed upon, friendliness, traveling in different areas of the world. I had one bad host and the support team was amazing. I got reimbursed to leave the situation, quick communication and felt safe and comfortable by the end. The membership cost is definitely worth it, I saved that amount with my first volunteer position so I would recommend

Through Worldpackers I experienced some of the best moments of my life!
Is a great way to meet people from around the world and mostly to travel but not as a normal tourist, but something's more!

The possibility to get in contact with lots of different people and communities! Up to now, I didn’t have scam issues with experiences thanks to the review and the possibility to get in contact with other travellers.

Worldpackers is a great way to get to know and discover the world, since I downloaded I have travelled all over South America and I have had a great time anywhere I have been to. The app is very practical and if you have a problem, their team help you out. I would recommend it for everyone that wants to join and discover the world in a different way.

I had 2 very bad experiences with Worldpackers hosts in Japan and I cannot recommend this platform.
Nagoya - "Digital Operations Helper"
The listing said 20h/week, social media, content, photo/video. Lunch daily. When I arrived, they refused to let me work because I didn't have a computer. I offered my iPad Pro but they said it wasn't compatible. They never provided a computer, even though the listing didn't say "you must bring one". It felt like an excuse. Instead they forced me to clean all rooms in the guesthouse. They timed me down to the minute, I often worked 30min extra with no break. The guesthouse was extremely old and unsafe - concrete fell from the roof and balcony 1 day after I left. My room was the worst one, just a bunk bed. I couldn't sleep because of crickets and train noise. On my days off, no lunch was provided even though it was promised. The location was 40min and 1800 JPY by train from the city center with nothing around.
Nanto, Toyama - Restaurant Host
The listing said: gardening, organic farming, kitchen help. The house was full of spiders, webs, and big flying cockroaches. On day 1 I woke up at 4am to weed a muddy rice field for 2 hours. I got an allergic reaction but was never warned. The rest of the day was 3-4 hours straight of dishwashing in terrible conditions, plus cleaning. The kitchen equipment was deformed and dirty. I also had to move heavy fridge/freezers. One day I worked 9 hours. The night before I left they cut the electricity. Meals were only 2 instead of 3 promised, not filling, and I even found a steel scourer in my food. The host was aggressive.
Worldpackers Support
I reported everything. They only sent empty motivational messages days later. No real help. Their "SafeGuard" offers max $59 support and they will likely reject it with excuses.
Most listings feel like people trying to get free labor instead of hiring staff. Many reviews that are negative don't get published. You are not an insured employee, so if something happens to you, no one is responsible.
Save your money. You can contact hosts directly without paying Worldpackers.

I’ve had many transformational, educational, and fun experiences through worldpackers. This platform has allowed me to explore, study, socialize, learn, and develop new connections in different places around the world. I’m immensely grateful and share it with as many people as possible. It’s such an ethical way to travel. To refrain from only being a consumer in a new country and giving something back to the communities and people I cross paths with .
