Google Workspace charged me despite my cancellation. I now hear this is quite common. When trying to call them, 2 of the 3 numbers I tried said that they were no longer taking calls at those numbers.... See more

Google Workspace failed to resolve admin lockout caused by former director
Our company, PR PROS Communications Limited (Ireland), experienced a serious administrative lockout of our Google Workspace environment after a former director changed passwords and access credentials without authorisation.
Despite promptly opening an official support case and clearly explaining that the individual no longer holds any role or authority within the company, Google Workspace Support has so far failed to provide an effective resolution.
We were repeatedly asked to complete DNS-based or admin-console verification steps that are objectively impossible in this scenario, as both the registrar and the Workspace admin account were compromised by the same former administrator. Requests to proceed via manual or alternative verification using corporate documentation were met with delays and non-substantive responses.
As a result, our company has been without access to critical email and operational systems for an extended period, causing material disruption to business activities.
Google Workspace is marketed as a core business infrastructure. In cases involving corporate governance changes and rogue administrators, we expected a faster and more pragmatic recovery process.
Never give them money
If I could give 0 stars, I would.
Terrible and unprofessional service. They cancelled my domain immediately after I unsubscribed, even though I had paid for the domain for a full year.
Never, under any circumstances, give money to these scammers.
Their domain resellers (Squarespace, etc.) are horrendous as well.
Google Workspace email addresses via Squarespace are problematic
It's difficult to imagine how successful Google has been given that their customer service with at least some of their products such as Google Workspace is absolutely terrible. It's days that I've not been able to get an email address to sync with my Squarespace website to work. Squarespace sells Google Workspace email address right from Squarespace website. Yet their customer service for troubleshooting problems is terrible and all you get from Google is a link, periodically to pages and pages of instructions that are not clear at all.
I am deeply disappointed and frustrated…
I am deeply disappointed and frustrated by my experience with Google Workspace.
What should have been a simple task, setting up one email address and a calendar for a single-person business – turned into an unnecessarily complex, confusing, and nerve-wrecking process that took hours and led to extreme frustration.
The onboarding is not designed for sole proprietors. It assumes company structures, multiple employees, and enterprise knowledge, without explaining what is happening or why certain restrictions exist.
Key issues I encountered:
Forced creation of multiple users without clear explanation
No clear distinction between admin identity and business email identity
Password restrictions that are not communicated transparently
License management that is impossible to understand or control during the trial phase
A trial system that locks users into configurations they cannot change, even though no payment has been made
Hidden downgrade and cancellation paths that feel intentionally obstructive
At several points, the system simply prevented progress without giving actionable guidance. This is unacceptable for a paid business product.
The result:
Instead of feeling supported as a paying customer, I felt punished for trying to set up a basic account. The experience caused unnecessary stress and wasted an enormous amount of time.
For a company of Google’s size and reputation, this level of user unfriendliness is a disgrace.
Google Workspace urgently needs:
A true “solo business” onboarding flow
Transparent explanations for admin, user, and license concepts
Immediate license control during trial periods
A setup process that does not feel hostile or misleading
I cancelled my trial not because I dislike Google’s tools, but because the administration experience is unreasonably complicated and borderline unacceptable.
This feedback is not emotional exaggeration, it is a serious warning that your current onboarding actively drives small businesses away.
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS…
DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS SERVICE!!!!!
Absolutely Horrendous! Wont even let me log on with my credentials.
Waste of time and money and if you can't log in to the administrator portal, guess what, no way to get any help in anyway.
I would cancel it but can't login to do so, so am being forced to cancel my card to avoid these absolute bell ends taking any cash from me!
awful none of the reports work
awful none of the reports work - supprot is a joke
Don't bother with the website builder
If you're thinking of doing your website through Google workspace... Don't bother!
Look at all the other 1 star reviews & trust them!
Google workspace doesn't even deserve a 1 star!
Paid for my domain name & unable to access it it so can't even publish my website!
Going through my bank to get the payment back. I would rather start from scratch through a more organised website host than have to deal with these confused bots!
No customer care! Nobody can answer your questions!
No technical support! Absolutely useless!
They steal your money then get you jumping through hoops to find your own domain name that you have paid for!
Don't bother with Squarespace neither!
SCAm scam scam THEY HAVE no CUSTOMER…
SCAm scam scam THEY HAVE no CUSTOMER SERVICE. ONCE U SIGN UP, YOU CANT GET OUT OF IT. NO NO NO! SCAM!
They would not give clear terms
They would not give clear terms, or let me cancel.
Absolutely a horrible experience
Absolutely a horrible experience. I was told of a 300 user limit and a 2TB mailbox limit when I am signing up for the Gmail in Google Workspace. Then to realise they throttle the service to a 2.5Gb per day on your IMAP. I am now unable to download my email in time to work offline during my commutes and tours. Taken days, and due to kicking me out by the email service my clients (Apple Mail nor Thunderbird) are able to get the emails fully without having to each day start from ground zero. Once the bot in support desk asked me to reconfigure the client and that lost all my 12Gb worth emails at once. Support is unable to support according to them. Horrible service. I'm not even sure Google Workspace team is caring anymore, even to read these customer voices. When so many are equally complaining about their quality of service..!! Compared to what Gmail used to be this is a tremendous backward step.
Do not use Google Workspace
I am a member of our local Community Council. We are a voluntary organisition who provide democratic representation for our local community. We moved our email service to Google Workspace but found that it was very expensive and difficult to use. There is an initial cheap period but then the price goes up a lot. Furthermore, it cost the same again for every additional person that requires access to the email, thus costing many hundreds of pounds a year, money we do not have. Therefore I shifted to Zoho, a much cheaper (and better) provider and cancelled my Google Workspace account. They still charged me for the whole year. When I asked to speak to a human about this, I was informed that this was not possible because I no longer had an account, even though I was still paying for the account. Google puts profit before anything else; quality of service, value or decency. I would recommend that you do not use their services, especially if you care about having a system that works, is affordable, and if you require any level of support.
Do not use Google workspace - Find another service that treats you fairly
Google Workspace insert marketing advertisement into your gmail account saying you can run your business via this feature and that Voice Over IP (VOIP) is possible and you can test it within a free trial period, but this is a total lie.
My company needed to VOIP solution and I followed all the procedures and processes their support gave me, but it took way longer to actually set it up, then the trial period, and they would therefore not refund over 500 USD, since you are forced to buy the Enterprise solution - their most expensive.
Google Workspace simply does not work properly and the setup takes so long that you can forget about getting out without paying a massive penalty fee.
Lets hope they get another billion dollar fine from the EU for false marketing and monopoly treatment of customers who are genuinely trying to use their services, and get treated unfairly.
Just use another another company, Google totally messed up here, and the world needs to know it.
I tried this workspace service but…
I tried this workspace service but ended up canceling it because it was unusable. I switched over to Zoho Mail, expecting a smooth transition, but things got even worse. When I tried sending emails from this old service to my Zoho Mail account, I kept getting bounce-back messages saying the recipient email does not exist.
This is ridiculous — the service fails at the most basic function: sending email. Not only did they make me waste time signing up and setting up, but even after cancellation, it’s still broken and interfering with my new email setup. Zoho Mail, in comparison, works flawlessly — emails actually arrive, everything is fast, and it’s reliable.
Honestly, avoid this service entirely. It’s buggy, unprofessional, and creates unnecessary problems even after you cancel. Zoho Mail is miles ahead in every way.
At some point my calendar went blank
At some point my calendar went blank, and apparently this was due to the storage problem, however I still had few GB available. Lost most of my contacts and didn't get any emails for several days.
To shut it down was a real nightmare.
Run away as far as you can
Don’t use Google workspace
I was accidentally locked into an annual Google workspace business plus account, costing me £600 plus VAT, which is a huge amount of money for someone who did not want this subscription and who is on a low income. There was no one to make a complaint to or to somehow switch to a cheaper account. I didn’t need to use the vast majority of the features for this account so for me, the service was useless.
As someone with ADHD, I do feel that the Google customer service is against neurodivergent people.
I upgraded from a google one account…
I upgraded from a google one account with 2TB of storage paying £10 a month to google workspace with 2 users paying £28 a month for both following an advert I received. It had 14 days free trial. I set it up and immediately it linked all my personal google drive storage and reduced by storage capacity to 300 gb. They said this is due to propagation and I would need to pay a $30 payment to the account in order to access the 4 TB (for 2 users) I had signed up for. I paid it and they said it would take 72 hours for it to reflect in my google account. So now, I cannot use google drive, sheets, docs, slides - pretty much every service. Even though I had 2 TB before upgrading. The customer services team were awful and unhelpful and refused to lodge a formal complaint, give me the complaints procedures or direct me to an address or email address I could complain to. I am sure this is against UK law.
Worst experience ever
Worst experience ever. Impossible to cancel, no support, hardest thing ever go navigate and more expensive than other providers. Hands down the most annoying experience digitally i have ever come across in my life.
Google Workspace locks you into annual…
Google Workspace locks you into annual contracts without any clear warning or reminders, keeps charging you even if you don’t use the service, and then demands a €68 “closeout fee” just to cancel a €18/month plan.
Customer support is useless. I was promised escalation and an email that never came, while billing continued. They simply don’t care.
At this point the only way to stop them is to cancel your credit card. This is not a service, it’s extortion.
Outsiders Can't Report Scammers
Googled how to report a Phishing/Malware/Scam attempt from a Gmail account using Google Drive. They send you to the workspace page and say that in the top right there is a help button to report them. There was no drop down to get to a help button as described, just a Log-in/sign up button. This means I have to sign up for your product in order to report someone who is misusing it and open myself up to even more spam.
Shocking/ no customer service.
shocking customer service, or non existent rather. Billed for a monthly subscription i didnt even know i had which increased for unknown reasons. possibly my fualt for starting the subscription by accident (shouldnt be pissible?!) however when cancelling it and trying to speak to customer service the ai told me im not allowed to talk to a human because im not paying for a subscription. i would never use this or one of googles products again by choice
