I've reported the matter to Paypal. Very disappointed in the company. I paid for one time access to transcribe an audio file and one week later they take £39.95. Thankfully I saw the transaction... See more

I did not authorize any payment, I want my money back. Please.
They activate subscriptions without consent and proceed to automatically charge you; they don't issue refunds when you notice, explaining that their policy doesn't allow for refunds!
The service is ok (not great, I still had to work a lot on the documents). But there is no transparency: I paid 0,95€ for the trial, then they automatically charged me 39€, with no e-mail alerting me about the renewal. BEWARE!
I never signed up for a monthly recurring charge. I selected and paid a on time $0.95. Somehow that turned into a monthly charge.
Not only converted pdf to epub is of very bad quality, like non-readable but basically these are scammers attempting to extort outrageous monthly amount and cancelling is next to impossible (I had to block any payments to them and change a card). DO NO USE!

My experience with TheBestPDF / Best-PDF has been very negative.
On June 10, 2026, I paid USD 0.95 for a 7-day trial. However, on June 17, 2026, I was automatically charged USD 29.95 for a monthly subscription that I did not clearly and intentionally choose to continue using.
After contacting customer support, they confirmed that my subscription had been canceled and that no further charges would be applied. However, they repeatedly refused to refund the USD 29.95 charge, stating that payments made through their website are non-refundable.
What I find inconsistent is that they did process a refund of USD 0.95 for the trial payment, which I had actually used, but they refused to refund the main disputed charge of USD 29.95. This shows that refunds can be processed, but in my case they did not resolve the actual issue.
The replies I received also appeared to be template-based, as they did not directly address the specific points I raised: the partial refund, the unexpected monthly charge, my lack of intention to continue with the service, and my request for a supervisor or billing manager to review the case.
I do not recommend this service if you only need to use a PDF tool once. Please read the terms very carefully before entering your card details, because a low-cost trial can automatically turn into a monthly subscription.
In my opinion, this type of practice may affect consumer rights, especially when users believe they are only paying for a short trial or one-time use and later face an automatic monthly charge. If there is already a group of affected consumers preparing a collective complaint or legal action, I would appreciate being informed. If not, I believe affected users should consider organizing a collective consumer complaint before the relevant consumer protection authorities.
In my case, the subscription was canceled, but the USD 29.95 monthly charge has not been refunded.

The company's billing practices are 100% fraudulent. Do not use at all. If you complain about unexpected charges, they'll hit you in private "we don't do refunds"... then they'll reply to you on Trustpilot publicly "we have forwarded your concern". Think about it, $19.99 for Adobe Acrobat Pro... or $50-60/month for a lackluster online PDF editor that you won't be able to avoid monthly charges from? I had to deactivate my credit card to escape their monthly charges.

This company deliberately conceals subscription information. For this many people to be complaining about the same issue, there is evidently a deliberate lack of transparency regarding the 95p trial. I too used the service just once. The biggest concern for me is not only concealing the terms and conditions, but the deliberate company name change on subsequent transactions. In my PayPal account, the 95p is a separate transaction under the name "The Best PDF"-indicating it was a one-off payment, as I believed it was at the time. However, the subsequent three monthly subscription payments of £39.95 were taken under a completely separate automatic charge using the company name "Xafenil Limited." Because of this name switch, I did not make the connection between the two companies on my statement. I have raised a dispute with PayPal. If enough of us fight back, we can force this company to stop its underhanded practices. If you have been caught out, do not just accept the loss. Here is how you can fight back:
IF YOU PAID VIA PAYPAL:
• Call the PayPal UK customer service line directly.
• Bypass their automated voice bot by repeatedly saying "I must speak to someone" or "Agent" until it connects you to a human.
• Ask the agent to link ALL the subscription charges to your dispute and ask them to file the claim under "Service Not Received."
• This forces the company to prove they provided a continuous service, which they cannot do.
OTHER PAYMENT METHODS:
Credit Card:
• You are legally protected under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.
• Call your provider and raise a "Chargeback" for a subscription trap.
Prepaid/Digital Cards (Revolut, Monzo, Wise, etc.):
• Freeze your card immediately in the app and open an in-app transaction dispute.
Reporting:
• File a report online with Action Fraud and raise it with Citizens Advice, who will pass the evidence straight to Trading Standards to investigate the company.

This website charged 0.50€ which automatically signed me up to their subscription, I was going to be charged 39.9€ two days later without even noticing. I wasn’t asked anything at any point. Shocking

Absolutely horrendous service. Charging me for something I haven’t even used and then refusing to refund. Despicable.

Absolute scam of a company. Purchased a one off £95p pdf edit and got pushed into a monthly subscription of £39.95 didn’t see anything about this horrendous amount and have had 3 payments come out of my account. Contacted them and they cancelled my subscription but won’t refund any money. Absolute joke of a company. Please avoid at all costs.

WARNING: They show you a fake compression preview to get you to pay
I uploaded my PDF and their website showed me a preview saying the compressed file would be under 4MB. I paid for the plan based on that. The downloaded file was 20.4MB — barely any change from the original 20.5MB. When I contacted support, I got a generic email about “why compression sometimes doesn’t work,” then two days later an email telling me to clear my browser cookies, then finally a refusal to refund citing their “non-refundable policy.” The preview they show you before payment is misleading. Save your money.
Update: They claim in there response the preview was “an estimate based on your file’s parameters.” If it’s just an estimate, why is it displayed so prominently before payment as the reason to buy? No disclaimer was shown. I paid because your website told me my file would be under 4MB. It came back at 20.4MB. That is not an estimate being slightly off - that is five times the promised size. They also took two days to respond to my emails, suggested I clear my browser cookies as a solution, and refused a refund. Now they’re offering to “personally analyze my file” - after I’ve already cancelled and been denied a refund.
