Excellent product

Excellent product, easy to set up, works well as actual card and via phone for payment. Links to your bank account to see balance and spend comes through converted back into sterling reasonably quickly. Calculator is useful but sometimes it converts higher than actual spend. Used abroad lots of times in many countries with no issues.

Great product, crap service

The card itself works fantastic, I took out a Marriott card but managed by Currensea, initially all transactions were going through and payments being taken from my account. I’d reached the rewards target that I’d originally signed up for and contacted them to understand where the points were, at this point they identified that there had been an issue collecting the annual fee, I’d changed accounts during set up as my initial bank account wasn’t compatible. My card was immediately frozen, I was told my sort code was incorrect, although I pointed out several payments had been processed and eventually was told they’d try again. This was over 10 days ago and still the card is frozen and no bonus points. These were intended for an upcoming trip but now I’ll need to book this directly. As a product it would be 5*, use was great and saved me money as I travel a huge amount, from a service view point I would give 0 stars if possible! I’m left feeling extremely let down and will be complaining to Marriott as to why they allow a company to now provide the reward points as promised!

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re pleased to hear that the card itself has worked well for you and that you’ve found it useful for your frequent travels.

We’re very sorry that your experience with our service, and particularly the delay in receiving your welcome bonus, has been so frustrating. We understand how disappointing it was to have met the requirements for the bonus but not receive your points within the expected timeframe, especially when you had planned to use them for an upcoming trip.

The delay was unfortunately caused by an issue with the subscription collection. The bank account originally linked when you signed up was not compatible with the collection process, and we were notified of this by your bank. We then contacted you to let you know, and we appreciate that you promptly linked a new bank account.

However, the subscription collection remained associated with the original account, meaning we were unable to complete the initial collection. This subsequently affected the processing of your welcome bonus and also resulted in your card being temporarily frozen while the outstanding subscription was resolved.

We appreciate that this was confusing and understand your frustration that it took longer than expected to resolve, particularly as you had already been using the card successfully.

We’re pleased to confirm that the subscription has now been successfully collected, your card has been unfrozen and is ready to use, and the instruction for your welcome bonus to be credited has been sent to Marriott.

We’re sorry that the delay affected your plans for your upcoming trip and that the overall experience has left you feeling let down by our service. This is not the experience we want our customers to have. We’ll reach out to you directly with some further information and hope to address your concerns in more detail.

Thank you for your patience while we worked to resolve this.

Best wishes,
The Currensea Team

A great card when travelling abroad

If your bank or credit card charges you to use your cards abroad then take out a Currensea card. No charges for using the card abroad and you can also take out a reasonable amount of currency from ATMs without charges.
It links straight to your bank account so you don't have to worry about remembering to pay it off.
You can also set it up on Apple Pay and Google Pay so you can use it online or for contactless payments on your phone.
I've used it successfully in the USA, Mexico, Jamaica and Europe without any issues so I highly recommend Currensea.

Mistake on my part resolved very quickly.

Had a small problem in that I cancelled my direct debit with my bank by accident. Hadn’t realised until Currensea sent me an email. It was reinstated very quickly and Teddie was very understanding and reassuring in his communications with me. Was very pleased with the level of customer service.

Convenient and secure

Got my Currensea card three years ago and use it whenever I go abroad - I find it cheap to use abroad and very convenient; and the combination of the app and a notification every time it’s used gives me a lot of confidence that any attempt at fraud would be instantly apparent. I actually leave all my other cards at home now. Have used it in Europe and the US with no problems at all, both for card payments and cash withdrawals. Wouldn’t travel without it.

New Phone caused problems trying to…

New Phone caused problems trying to connect Currensea card to bank account - the app kept saying my card was frozen...although I followed instructions to connect to bank it didn't work. I connected the helpdesk and suggestions as to what to do came through very quickly. Unfortunately, that didn't work. Over a period of a few weeks emails went backwards and forwards. A very big thank you to Ross who replied to numerous emails extremely quickly and kept me informed as to what they were doing their end to sort the issue. At last, now all sorted!
