I know all about the Black Dog
I know all about the Black Dog. The first time he came calling was when I was about eleven and I had started a new school just when my grandad died. I got over it with time. But a pattern of anxiety had obviously been established in my body. So, when my wife died at 26 (I was 30), it was inevitable that Black Dog would come calling again. I described it at the time to my aunt. I feel like someone has draped a wet blanket on top of me and I cannot get it off. I survived with time, SSRIs and counselling and the love of a mother.
The latest episode of depression was just as I retired a couple of months ago. I would not wish depression on my worst enemy. I did think about suicide or at least someone in my brain did. But I thought you know what, I am stronger for having been through what I have already been through. I am NOT giving up. I have used the Flow device for three weeks now and am beginning to feel more upbeat. On day one I had an optimistic thought but you do need to give the process time. Flow was just a part of the recovery though. Nature, walks, sunlight, good food, sleep, probiotics, reading books and the love of a good woman also help the process.
I would say this device is a literal life saver and with so many men (and ladies) suffering, it should be readily available to everyone.
