Do not use Europcar Cardiff Roath…

Do not use Europcar Cardiff Roath unless you want to be scammed and stonewalled. I booked and paid in full over a week in advance for an Intermediate class vehicle (VW Golf / T-Roc or similar).
When I arrived, they handed over the keys to a Ford Puma—a subcompact vehicle in a completely lower category. There was no apology, no explanation, and no offer of a reduced price or partial refund. They simply tried their luck, hoping I wouldn't notice or care. To make matters worse, they sneaked the vehicle through the paperwork and tricked me into signing the agreement without once mentioning they were downgrading the car I had paid for.
When I sat in the car and realized how small it was, I went straight back inside to demand the Intermediate vehicle I actually paid for. The staff refused to swap it, claimed they had "nothing else," and stated the manager had gone home. I had to force the desk agent to write down on paper that no manager was on site and no correct cars were available.
I specifically booked a larger, comfortable Intermediate car to take my elderly mother on a 6-hour round trip to her brother's funeral. Forcing an elderly woman with mobility needs into a cramped, lower-category vehicle on an emotionally draining day is absolute disgusting behavior. Zero empathy, zero customer service, and zero accountability.
This is a classic "bait and switch" operation—a clear breach of contract under UK Consumer Law. I have formally logged a complaint ticket (Ref: 26934901), and if this is not rectified with a full refund and compensation, I will be escalating this directly to the BVRLA (British Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association) and initiating a credit card chargeback.
Be warned: Europcar Cardiff Roath will take your money for a decent car and hand you a budget box without telling you. Extremely dodgy company run by dishonest staff. Avoid at all costs!

What an absolute disaster of a business model. As a first-time customer, you’d expect a company to try and make a decent impression. Instead, they managed to leave four entire items off my very first order.

When I contacted customer service to get it sorted, I was met with total incompetence. I was told there was absolutely nothing they could do to fix their own mistake and deliver the missing items I’d already paid for. To make matters worse, they didn’t even offer a solution—I had to manually demand my own refund, only to be told I now have to wait up to 10 days just for a response.

Established supermarkets like Asda and Tesco run circles around this joke of an operation. This company is all premium branding with zero substance. I will never waste my time or money ordering from this shambles again.

I genuinely struggle to comprehend the…

I genuinely struggle to comprehend the overwhelmingly positive reviews for Simba mattresses. In my long-term experience, this is the worst mattress I have ever owned. While it may initially seem adequate, which likely explains the initial positive feedback, significant dips began to form in our sleeping areas after approximately one year. Despite regular rotation, these indentations have worsened over time, severely impacting our sleep quality. I can only imagine the issues this would present for individuals of a heavier build; my partner and I weigh 10 and 13 stone respectively, and the profound dips have ruined our sleep. After just two years, our mattress is now unusable, necessitating a replacement. I would strongly advise against purchasing a Simba mattress; while acceptable for a few months, their long-term quality is poor and will undoubtedly lead to sleep disturbances.

Update: So their 10 year warranty covers dips but they must be greater than 4.5cm when over 2 years old! The dip on our bed is around 3 cm so I can only assume their warranty wouldn't apply! That madness, they are basically saying if your mattress deforms by up to 4.5cm this is normal! £800+ spent on this mattress and needs to be replaced after 2 years!

Simba reached out asking for the order number after I posted this review. I updated this review with the order number 373619173, but nobody has contacted me.

Never post with this company if you can help it. They've now lost a second parcel. Their customer service is rubbish and they really do not care about their customers what so ever. Attempted to contact them (very difficult) advising they've lost the parcel and they then said to contact vinted, to which I never sent the parcel through vinted! Just trying to palm responsibility off and delay resolution.

Terrible customer service

Purchased Emma bed and Mattress. Received email confirming delivery slot. Waited home all day, no contact from them and no delivery. Called them late I
the afternoon and told they were delivered to a different warehouse with no new ETA. Been over 5 days and no contact from them. They just don't care. The fact they didn't even contact us to advise there was a mess up with delivery and just let us wait in all day long is just not what a reputable company does in this day and age.

Do not buy , they cannot fulfill orders. Look at the other reviews, there's alot of us

Cutting a very long story short, I had to end up cancelling my order due to the worst customer service I've ever experienced from a company.

Delays in the order, waited at home all day as told item would be delivered but never showed. They are just not being honest about delivery times and trying to hush customers until they can fulfill orders with no regard for their customers what so ever. Go to a competitor if you haven't purchased one yet. Most likely you will regret ordering from this company as they cannot fulfill the orders and will not be transparent with you when the items do not get delivered.

I know alot of others are having the same issues with these crooks and wanted to provide some info that helped me when dealing with this very strange company.

There are letter templates to send on citizen advise website which are free, just search "letter templates citizen advice" and use the .gov website. Know your rights and don't let them get away with treating you like a fool.

Update: Still no communication about about my refund. Can only assume they are dragging their heels on purpose to hold on to the funds as long as possible. Time is ticking and I will be taking legal action. Few more days an I will be contacting the bank to run a charge back then pursuing them through the small claims court.

Never buy a sofa from this company

Never buy a sofa from this company. They look good but after some time the materials used in the cushions are not fit for purpose and will cause you back problems, they don't last long before they become uncomfortable. The 5 year guarantee isn't worth anything and I'm stuck with an uncomfortable sofa after only a year and a half, spend the same money and get a sofa from a reputable company who use good quality foam.

Not a reputable company

Terrible company. I used Klarna to try and get financing for a Google Pixel 6 Pro. However, they had the items value wrong on their side. This meant I got approved for £20 less than the item (£830) so couldn't proceed with the purchase AND had a hard credit check for financing that I couldn't use. This situation is unacceptable & not at all unique to my circumstances. Many others encountered a similar issue. AVOID AT ALL COSTS

They don't know what there doing

Booked me in for smart meter installation. Told me to wait home from 8am to 1pm. Waited in on date given, nobody arrived, no calls or anything to inform me of any changes. Called the number given and put through to a South African call centre who firstly assumed I was a different person. I then provided my account number to be informed they don't know why the meter engineer hasn't showed up and that they can do no more. I asked if they had the contact information for the engineer so they can find out what's happened, he explained they do not and cannot help any further. I'm very shocked by this service and the fact I have wasted a day's holiday to sit in and wait for this and not even A courtesy call to inform me it's cancelled and no explanation, or an apology or anything as to why the engineer hasn't showed up. This company is clearly run unprofessionally and I will be switching my energy provider immediately due to this, they should not be in business. Do not use this company find one with better service and one which puts it's customers first

Hello Adam, the call agent should have explained that the engineer had deferred the appointment and until we see the engineer's report we do not know why it was deferred. I am very sorry that your time was wasted and we will be crediting your electric account with a £30 goodwill payment for the missed appointment. Our Smart Team will be in touch to arrange a new date for the meter exchange. I regret the poor communication. I hope we can deliver a 5 star service going forward. Eileen
