fix(net): keep restored own-ip boxes' rows and ingress across a VM restart - #2298
Conversation
…start A minvmd load reinstated each standing row detached, arming the 45 s detach grace; a VM's cold boot (40-70 s) outlasts it, so the row — and with it the box's published name and declared ingress forwards — was gone before the guest daemon started. Reinstate reloaded rows under the resume bound instead, the same wait a resumed withdrawn row gets. And the guest resume started a restored box's actor but never its host, so the shuttle never attached: ingress stayed unbound and the reloaded row never saw its box's first frame until a client's first exec or attach. Resume now launches the host of an own-address box detached from the resume, unattached to any client, so the box's ingress binds and its name keeps answering as soon as the daemon is up. …st-the-bound check can fail Without a drainer nothing sweeps the resumed registry, so the assertion that a carried row stands past RESUME_ATTACH_BOUND held vacuously.
…e bound Replace the reload test's resume segment with a reload-only check, hold the host-network box's no-launch assert over a settle, unlink minimald's doc reference to minvmd's private mark_row, and rewrap the dormant-creation doc.
A reloaded row has no attachment left to end in the new run, and a cold boot outlasts the detach grace. Scope the 60-second withdrawal to an attachment that ends during the VM host daemon's run, name the reload test, and rewrite the rationale that said rows reload detached.

…ries its row The host-side gate counts a box's row carried only once a frame from the box's address crosses it, and the tap's static configuration sends none. A resumed own-address box whose host runs idle with no client therefore left its reloaded row awaiting until RESUME_ATTACH_BOUND withdrew it, its name and ingress with it. Every gated box attach now writes one gratuitous ARP from the lease, at the lease's own MAC, onto the switch connection before the relay starts. The minvmd gate admits it as any ARP from a row's address and carries the row, so the restored box's row stands past the bound without traffic.

…start (#2298) A minvmd load reinstated each standing row detached, arming the 45 s detach grace. A VM's cold boot outlasts that, so the row, and with it the box's published name and declared ingress, was gone before the guest daemon started. Reloaded rows now wait under the resume bound. The guest resume also started a restored box's actor but never its host, so its shuttle never attached and ingress stayed unbound until a client's first exec or attach. Resume now launches an own-address box's host detached from the resume, and the attach announces the box's lease, so an idle box carries its row. Backport of #2298. Adapted to the line: box_actor and box_manager hunks land in session/tests.rs and sessions.rs, crate::traced::spawn_detached becomes an instrumented tokio::spawn, and line names replace BoxGate, BoxKeyPredicate and boxes::. #2333 below moves the announcement. (cherry picked from commit 10d34a5)
A gated attach wrote its framed gratuitous ARP into the /connect handshake, before the relay owned the stream. gvproxy's hijack discards bytes already buffered, so the ARP's tail was read as a bogus length prefix and box ingress died. The handshake now speaks only the upgrade, and the relay sends the announcement as its first frame, one short delay after it starts. Only the vsock attach announces: on the local-socket attach the tap wears a kernel-chosen MAC, so the announcement would point the gateway at a MAC the box does not wear, and there is no host-side row for it to carry. Backport of #2333. Required follow-up to #2298. Adapted to the line: crate::traced::spawn reads tokio::spawn, and line names replace BoxGate and boxes::. (cherry picked from commit 1bec117)

After a VM restart, a restored own-address box lost its declared ingress binding and its
.min.internalname answered NXDOMAIN until the first exec or attach — two halves of one bug:resume_active_sessionsstarted a restored box's actor but never its host, so the shuttle never attached — the reloaded row never saw its box's first frame, and ingress never bound, until a client's first exec or attach. Resume now launches an own-address box's host detached from the resume (unattached to any client), so ingress binds and the name keeps answering as soon as the daemon is up. HostNet boxes are unchanged: no declared ingress, no launch.Verification
