Summary

crates/minimal-tui had one consumer, the min CLI, so its own crate boundary added cost without isolation. This folds it into minimal as the dash module.

crates/minimal/src/dash/ now holds app, event, filter, render, rpc, and state, with internal paths rewritten to crate::dash::*. The public entry points minimal::dash::run and DashOptions keep their signatures, and min dash behaves the same. TUI-only dependencies (common, crossterm, futures, ratatui, unicode-width) sit in a commented dash block in crates/minimal/Cargo.toml. The insta snapshots move to crates/minimal/tests/dash_snapshots.rs.

The crate-wide source inventory tests in crates/minimal/src/tests.rs now scan dash/rpc.rs, so their expected lists gain its activate, connect_missing, and discover sites.

Testing

just fmt-check, just clippy (workspace, -D warnings), and cargo test -p minimal --lib pass (433 tests). cargo test -p minimal --test dash_snapshots passes too (19 tests, snapshots match with no INSTA_UPDATE).

just test (nextest, full workspace) passes for every crate. Only the root and namespace-gated tests (minimald::netns_root_integration, sandbox2) fail, because this environment cannot enter those namespaces.

just lint-prose on the edited markdown reports no new violations. Both files carry pre-existing ones I left in place.

Checklist

📝 Walkthrough

The dashboard TUI moved from a separate crate into a public dash module in minimal. The workspace, dependencies, CLI entry point, tests, and documentation now use the in-crate module.

Changes: Dashboard relocation

Layer / File(s) Summary
Workspace and dashboard module structure
Cargo.toml, crates/minimal-tui/Cargo.toml, crates/minimal/Cargo.toml, crates/minimal/src/lib.rs, docs/architecture.md, docs/specs/07-spec-min-dash-tui/07-spec-min-dash-tui.md
The workspace no longer includes minimal-tui. The minimal crate declares the dashboard dependencies and exposes the dashboard through minimal::dash. The architecture and specification describe the in-crate module and its dependencies.
Dashboard paths, activation, and validation
crates/minimal/src/cmd/*, crates/minimal/src/dash/*, crates/minimal/src/tests.rs, crates/minimal/tests/cli.rs, crates/minimal/tests/dash_snapshots.rs, crates/minimal-client/src/lib.rs, justfile, docs/specs/07-spec-min-dash-tui/07-spec-min-dash-tui.md
The CLI invokes minimal::dash. Dashboard imports, activation tests, snapshot tests, and the snapshot update recipe use the minimal crate. Connection and session-creation inventories include dashboard activation.

The move itself checks out: every file under crates/minimal-tui (sources, tests/snapshots.rs, all 13 snapshots) landed under crates/minimal, the only edits in the moved code are the crate:: → crate::dash:: paths, no minimal-tui/minimal_tui reference is left anywhere in the tree, and Cargo.lock adds nothing to minimal that minimal-tui wasn't already pulling into it. Two things outside the diff:

  • crates/minimal/Cargo.toml line 3: the minimal description still lists "sessions, tasks, loadouts, packages, networking, diagnostics and project setup" and says nothing about the dashboard. With minimal-tui gone, no description in just crates says where min dash lives (and minimal-client's "shared by the min CLI and the TUI" now describes a single crate). AGENTS.md asks for the description to change with the crate's scope; adding "the min dash TUI" to that sentence covers it.
  • GitHub reports the branch as conflicting with main. The main-side change is #2153 (35e626a), which edited crates/minimal-tui/src/render.rs: the (none) arm in policy_list and the policy_pane_spells_a_resolved_empty_list_as_none test. A local git merge-tree carries that hunk into dash/render.rs through rename detection, but if the conflict surfaces as modify/delete on the old path during the rebase, taking the delete drops the NET-074 fix without any error. After rebasing, check that both pieces are in crates/minimal/src/dash/render.rs. #2114 is stacked on this branch, so it picks up whatever the rebase produces.

On macOS this recipe no longer compiles. cargo test -p minimal builds minimal's dev-dependencies, which include minimald with test-support, and ci-macos.yml already notes that this pulls the hakoniwa → libcgroups → procfs chain that doesn't build there. The old cargo test -p minimal-tui --test snapshots had no minimald dev-dep, so a Mac developer who changed render.rs could regenerate snapshots natively; just test-snap-update on a Mac now fails to build. Mark it [linux] and either add a [macos] twin over cross (passing INSTA_UPDATE=always through CROSS_CONTAINER_OPTS, like test-cross does for HOME) or point to just test-cross i 10BC8 n the summary line.

minimal-review — approval withheld

Verdict COMMENT — APPROVE withheld: 1 unresolved thread — mitodrummer justfile:443. No findings.

Panel: 1 of 3 personas ran (correctness); did not complete: security, supply-chain.

Move the six TUI source modules from crates/minimal-tui into
crates/minimal/src/dash/ and delete the standalone crate. The dashboard
entry points (minimal::dash::run, DashOptions) and the `min dash`
subcommand keep their behavior.

TUI-only dependencies (common, crossterm, futures, ratatui,
unicode-width) now sit in a commented dash block in
crates/minimal/Cargo.toml. The insta snapshots move to
crates/minimal/tests/dash_snapshots.rs, and the internal crate paths
become crate::dash::*.

The crate-wide source inventory tests in crates/minimal/src/tests.rs
gain the dash/rpc.rs sites, which widen into their scan now that the
module lives under minimal/src.
