feat(packaging): ship minzoned in a signed macOS app bundle with the app icon - #2188
Conversation
… net setup Two module comments in the resolver and the header of the app icon build script still named the command that min finalize-install replaced. The icon script's header also drops a reference to a private tracker.

macOS lists a launchd job under an app's name and icon in Login Items & Extensions only when the job's program belongs to an app bundle signed with the vendor's Developer ID. A bare program is listed under the developer's name with a placeholder icon. Add the bundle's Info.plist and scripts/build-app-bundle.sh, which assembles Minimal.app around a minzoned binary and converts it to and from the flat file names a release carries. just app-bundle assembles the unsigned bundle locally, so the layout can be tested without a signing identity.
…acOS The macOS release job signed minzoned as a bare Mach-O file. A bare program has no bundle to take a name or an icon from, so Login Items & Extensions lists its launchd job under the developer's name with a placeholder icon. The job now assembles Minimal.app around minzoned, signs the bundle with the Developer ID identity under the identifier min verifies it by, notarizes it, and staples the ticket. It then flattens the bundle to one file per bundle file, rebuilds the bundle from those files the way the installer lays it down, and verifies the rebuilt copy against the Developer ID requirement and its stapled ticket before uploading. scripts/stage-release.sh stages those files under bin/Minimal.app on darwin in place of the bare bin/minzoned. The bundle's other files are optional components, like minzoned itself. stage-release_test.sh fails when the staged rows and the flat names scripts/build-app-bundle.sh writes disagree. The signing, notarization and stapling steps have not run: they need the signing keychain and Apple's notary service. A workflow_dispatch run with dry_run set builds, signs, notarizes, staples and verifies without publishing anything.
On macOS the release stages minzoned as the files of an app bundle under bin/Minimal.app, beside min. The installer's generic file rows already place them, so the changes here are the ones the bundle's shape needs. An upgrade from a release that installed bin/minzoned removes that file when it is still the bytes the installer wrote: the program is now in the bundle, and a second copy left on PATH is one min could still find. The same walk removes the bundle's files when a channel points back at a release from before the bundle. Uninstall prunes the bundle's emptied directories. The advice it prints for the host setup names the root-owned bundle min finalize-install installs, and removes it with rm -rf, because the bundle is a directory.
On macOS `min finalize-install` now copies the whole app bundle that ships beside `min` to /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Minimal.app, root-owned, and points the box-name service at the program inside it. Each bundle file is pinned by SHA-256 and checked again in a root-only temporary directory, the signature is verified on that copy, and the copy is renamed into place. The local range job runs the same program with a new `reserve-local-range` verb instead of a shell script, so both jobs run signed code from one bundle and name it in AssociatedBundleIdentifiers. A source that is a bare program, as in a debug build, keeps the script. A host that ran the step before the bundle fails the custody check, so the step is offered again and replaces the bare program and the range script. `--undo` removes the bundle and both earlier files. The privileged macOS proof installs from an unsigned bundle and asserts the new layout. Linux is unchanged.
Cover how the release job assembles, signs, notarizes, staples and flattens the bundle, what `min finalize-install` installs from it and what `--undo` removes, and how to check the result with a dry run of the release workflow.

The three setup-script checks piped into grep -q under pipefail. When grep -q left at its first match, the upstream grep died on the closed pipe and the pipeline failed, so the check read a script with sudo in it as clean. Without the race the check failed on the classifier step's hint messages, which name sudo inside quoted text and elevate nothing.
unsafe-libyaml is archived upstream with no maintained release. It is reached only through nickel-lang-co 8BD0 re's non-optional serde_yaml dependency, so no version bump clears the advisory.
The privileged bundle copy reported every failed copy as the DNS service program. Each file's copy failure now names that file, as the hash mismatch already does.

… failed stale-file removal The macOS DNS remedy removed every path with rm -rf. Only Minimal.app and Minimal.app.old are directories, so the file paths go back to rm -f. A minzoned file an earlier release placed elsewhere that could not be removed now keeps its record row, so the next install retries, as the gvproxy rename cleanup does.
The elevation check missed sudo after if, elif, while, until, time, !, {
and a backtick, and matched then/do/else inside a longer word.
Each bundle file was optional on its own, so a stage could publish a bundle missing a file its signature covers. With any bundle file present a missing one now fails the stage. --allow-missing still stages what is there, so a backfill of a release from before the bundle keeps working.

Checked the bundle signing and notarization order (assemble, sign the bundle, notarize, staple, then flatten and re-verify the rebuilt copy, with nothing touching the program after codesign), the Info.plist identifier and executable against what min verifies, the installer/stage-release rows and old-path cleanup, and the root-side bundle copy, hash pins and range-unit migration, and found nothing blocking.
What
On macOS,
minzonednow ships and installs inside a signed app bundle,Minimal.app, that carries the app icon. Both launchd jobsmin finalize-installinstalls run from that bundle. Why
System Settings > General > Login Items & Extensions lists two rows for the product today:

Its program is a shell script, and a script carries no signature.macOS takes a background item's name and icon from an app bundle signed under the vendor's Team ID.
