Correctness review of the BRES spec: 8 inline findings. Five are medium: swap on local0, memory.min that a delegated subtree makes ineffective, zram memory that nothing counts, counter-reset detection, and BRES-017 on local0. Three are low and concern admission edge cases.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[medium] On local0, box memory can be swapped to the developer's disk. BRES-014 sets the leaf's memory.swap.max = ram "on either local host", local0 included. On local0 there is no zram (BRES-007/008/010 apply to the guest only), so the swap a box gets is whatever swap the desktop has, often a plaintext swap partition or swapfile. Example: a box on local0 with a delegated subtree and a [secrets] value in memory comes under pressure, and its pages are written to /swapfile on the workstation's disk. The architecture's Swap rule says swap "MUST be unreadable once the boot that wrote it ends ... never plaintext on a volume that persists". It also says the host's own processes are never swapped, and the native minimald gets no memory.swap.max = 0. The "guest-only" swap invariant and the Open question only cover the VM's memory being paged, not this. Suggested fix: on local0, set the leaf's memory.swap.max to 0 unless the host's swap is verified to be zram or encrypted, and state that in a requirement.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. New BRES-075 sets a local0 leaf's memory.swap.max to 0 unless every host swap device is zram or dm-crypt, and BRES-014 now defers to it; the arch Swap rule's silence on local0 is a new open question with a proposed posture.

| - **BRES-070** THE SYSTEM SHALL report a host's memory enforcement as `enforced` when the host holds a delegated memory controller delivering each box's limit, hard reservations and the cap on the boxes subtree, and as `advisory` otherwise, so that `local0` reports `enforced` with a delegated subtree and `advisory` without, decided by the Box Host daemon from what it detects, on the host side of TB2. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
[medium] On local0, enforced claims hard reservations that a delegated subtree usually cannot deliver. cgroup v2 caps a cgroup's effective memory.min at its ancestors' effective protection. A subtree that systemd delegates (for example user@1000.service/...) sits under user.slice/user-1000.slice, and those default to memory.min = 0. So the memory.min that BRES-040 and BRES-041 write on the leaves and on the boxes subtree protects nothing. Both requirements' tests still pass, because they only read the value back. BRES-070 then reports local0 as enforced whenever the memory controller is delegated, which contradicts the Security invariant "report enforced only when it can deliver ... hard reservations". Example: two boxes on local0, each with a reservation, and the desktop under memory pressure. Reclaim takes pages from inside the boxes' reservations anyway, while min host show says enforced. Suggested fix: detection should check the effective protection (memory.min along the ancestor chain, or memory_recursiveprot together with a MemoryMin= on the delegating unit) before reporting enforced. Otherwise local0 should report advisory for reservations.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. New BRES-076 counts reservations deliverable only when the effective memory.min along the ancestor chain reaches allocatable (or memory_recursiveprot below the delegated root), tested by local0_reservations_advisory_without_ancestor_protection_root_integration; BRES-070 reports enforced only then, and BRES-077 keeps the limits while marking only the reservation advisory (BRES-068/073/074 follow).

| - **BRES-011** WHEN the guest boots THE SYSTEM SHALL mount cgroup2 at `/sys/fs/cgroup` beside `proc` and `sysfs`. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
[medium] zram memory is not counted against allocatable, so boxes that swap can exhaust the guest and reach the daemon. The boxes subtree is capped only by memory.max = guest RAM − 512 MiB. Each leaf gets memory.swap.max = ram (BRES-014). Pages swapped to zram leave the cgroup's memory.current, but the compressed copies live in zram's own pool, which is not charged to any memcg. Neither the boxes subtree's memory.max nor any memory.swap.max on the subtree limits them. Example: a 64 GiB guest gets an 8 GiB zram device (BRES-007). Overcommitted boxes fill the subtree to allocatable and also swap out about 8 GiB, which at roughly 3:1 compression is about 2.7 GiB of real RAM. That is far more than the 512 MiB reserve. The guest then hits a global OOM rather than a memcg OOM, and the global killer can pick minimald or the relay, which have no oom_score_adj protection (that is a Non-goal). This breaks the hard invariant "every kill caused by the boxes subtree reaching allocatable [stays in] the boxes subtree, never the daemon". Suggested fix: count the zram budget in the reserve (allocatable = RAM − reserve − worst-case zram footprint), or cap swap on the boxes subtree, or protect the daemon cgroup with memory.min or memory.low.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. BRES-007 now gives the zram device a mem_limit of half its size (2:1 assumed, held as a bound for incompressible pages), and BRES-012 subtracts that footprint from allocatable; the arch allocatable formula not counting in-memory swap is a new open question.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[medium] Detecting a counter reset by "lower than the previous sample" loses kills. BRES-054 treats a recreated leaf as a reset only when the new oom_kill count is below the previous snapshot. If the leaf is recreated (for example on resume) and reaches the old count or more before the next tick, the reset is missed. Example: the last sample before suspend reads oom_kill = 1. On resume the leaf is recreated, and the box gets 3 kills before the next tick. The sampler sees 3 ≥ 1, reports a difference of 2, and loses one kill. If the new leaf reaches exactly 1, it reports 0 and emits no WARN, no oom_killed event and no notice for a real kill. The T1 property "no kill is lost or counted twice" is false for this input pair, so a proptest that generates recreated leaves will fail, or the property gets weakened. Suggested fix: key the snapshot on the leaf's identity (cgroup inode or id, or a generation the daemon bumps when it creates the leaf), and drop the previous snapshot when the leaf is removed. The sub-bullet's final read already happens at that point.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. BRES-054 keys each snapshot on a generation minimald assigns at leaf creation, its sub-bullet drops the snapshot after the final read at removal, and the T1 property's generator now includes leaves recreated with counters below, equal to or above the old value.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[medium] BRES-017 on local0 has no mechanism behind it. In the guest, writes fail because the leaf is the box's cgroup-namespace root (BRES-016): the kernel returns EPERM for non-delegatable files of the ns root. The spec scopes BRES-016 to the guest only (see the last Open question). With systemd delegation, the native minimald creates the leaves as the delegated user, so the leaves' memory.max and memory.min files are owned by that uid. Example: on local0, if the box is not in a cgroup namespace rooted at its leaf, a box process with the same uid, or root in a userns mapped to it, can write max to its leaf's memory.max through /sys/fs/cgroup/.../memory.max and remove its own limit. BRES-017's local0 test would only pass by accident, depending on how the mount namespace happens to look. Suggested fix: make BRES-016 apply on both local hosts, or name the mechanism that makes the write fail on local0.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. BRES-016 now applies on both local hosts, on a cgroup2 mount with nsdelegate, with a local0 root integration test, which is the mechanism behind BRES-017 there; the guest-only open question is removed.
| - **BRES-038** IF a written `ram_reserved` is above what the box's omitted or `"auto"` `ram` resolves to THEN THE SYSTEM SHALL refuse the box at admission with exit 8 and `code = "insufficient_resources"`, naming `ram` as the remedy, enforced by the Box Host daemon at admission, on the host side of TB2. | ||

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[low] The Box Host does not check that a written ram_reserved is at most a written ram. BRES-038's property says "for every admitted box, its reservation is at most its resolved ram". The requirement, though, only refuses a written ram_reserved above an omitted or "auto" ram. The written-and-written case is checked only by min at expansion (BRES-030, exit 3), which runs on the client side, outside the Box Host. Example: a request that reaches the daemon without going through min's expansion carries ram = "1GiB" and ram_reserved = "4GiB". That could be a nested min in a box, or any other RPC client. Admission accepts it, and the leaf is written with memory.min > memory.max. The Kani harness will also find this counterexample unless the core checks it. Suggested fix: state that admission refuses ram_reserved > ram in every case.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. BRES-038 now refuses ram_reserved above the resolved ram in every case, written ram included, whatever client sent the request; BRES-030's client-side exit 3 stays for expansion.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
[low] A reservation refusal tells the user the wrong remedy. BRES-035 applies one remedy table to fit refusals and to reservation refusals (BRES-039): for ram, "omit ram, or give the host more memory". When BRES-039 refuses because the running boxes' reservations plus this one exceed allocatable, omitting ram does not help. Example: the entry writes ram_reserved = "4GiB" and ram = "8GiB", and 6 GiB of 8 GiB allocatable is already reserved. The user follows the remedy and omits ram, which now resolves to 4 GiB. The next refusal is BRES-038's, or the same BRES-039 refusal. The remedies that would actually help are to lower or omit ram_reserved, or to stop other boxes. Suggested fix: give BRES-039 its own remedy.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. BRES-039 now carries its own remedy (lower or omit ram_reserved, or stop other boxes), and BRES-035's table defers to it for reservation refusals.
| - **BRES-031** WHEN admission resolves a box whose `ram` is omitted or `"auto"` THE SYSTEM SHALL resolve it to the host's default box size, one half of allocatable on `local0` and `local-minvmd0`, and record its source as `default`. | ||

| verify: cargo nextest run -p minimald auto_ram_resolves_to_half_allocatable | ||
| property: For every allocatable, the default box size equals one half of it rounded down, so above zero it is less than all of it; at an allocatable of zero no box is admitted. |
There was a problem hiding this comment.
[low] When allocatable is tiny but not zero, a box is admitted that cannot run. The property only rules out admission when allocatable is 0. With allocatable = 1 byte, the default box size rounds down to 0. That 0 fits (BRES-034), and the reservation is min(256 MiB, 0) = 0, which also fits (BRES-039). So the box is admitted with memory.max = 0 and dies when it starts. In practice: local0's allocatable is capacity − max(4 GiB, capacity/4). A machine with about 4.1 GiB of MemTotal therefore has an allocatable of about 100 MiB and a default box size of about 50 MiB. Boxes are admitted that are immediately OOM-killed, instead of being refused with exit 8 and the figures. Suggested fix: add a minimum default box size, for example the 256 MiB floor, below which admission refuses.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in dd4443b. New BRES-078 (T2, its own Kani harness, same 8-box bound) refuses an omitted or "auto" ram with exit 8 and the figures when the default box size is below 256 MiB, and BRES-031's property now points at it.
…set keying) On local0 a box leaf swaps only where every host swap device is zram or dm-crypt (BRES-075, BRES-014). local0 reports enforced only when the ancestor chain's effective protection can deliver reservations (BRES-076, BRES-070), and otherwise keeps the limits and marks only the reservation advisory (BRES-077, BRES-068, BRES-073, BRES-074). The zram device carries a mem_limit of half its size, subtracted from guest allocatable (BRES-007, BRES-012 10BC8 ). OOM-kill snapshots are keyed on a leaf generation and dropped at leaf removal (BRES-054). The leaf is the cgroup-namespace root on both local hosts (BRES-016). Admission refuses ram_reserved above resolved ram in every case (BRES-038), BRES-039 carries its own remedy, and a default box size below 256 MiB is refused with exit 8 (BRES-078). Three architecture gaps are recorded as open questions. Co-Authored-By: Claude Fable 5.1 <noreply@anthropic.com>

BRES-075 accepts dm-crypt host swap only when keyed fresh at each boot, matching the swap invariant. BRES-076 also requires that, at each ancestor level, siblings claim no more memory.min than their parent, so reservations are not diluted. The spec pins arch_sha. Architecture-conformance review against gominimal/arch 5c12015 (Box Resources, Box Provider API §5–§8, networking §4.1). The prior 12 inline threads are all answered on the branch.
Changes requested: three medium findings (in-box reach to sibling leaves and the subtree, local0 allocatable vs the delegated chain's limits, small hosts losing local0) and five low ones. Rulings on six of the open questions are inline: stopped boxes do not count, cpu_arch uses insufficient_resources with dimension: "cpu_arch", BRES-077's per-guarantee marking is accepted, the zram footprint in allocatable is accepted, the local0 swap posture is already what the architecture requires, and TB3 paging stays open. The arch-side edits those rulings name are a follow-up in gominimal/arch.

If the box's cgroupfs is a bind of the host mount, the box sees and can write a sibling's or the boxes subtree's memory.max, reaching the daemon's reserve (architecture Box Resources: "a box cannot loosen its own limit", "never reaches the daemon"). BRES-070's detection also never checks that the host mount carries nsdelegate; BRES-016 assumes it.
Ask: BRES-016 states that the box's /sys/fs/cgroup is a cgroup2 mount made from inside the box's cgroup namespace, never a bind of the host mount; BRES-070 reports advisory when the mount lacks nsdelegate; BRES-017's test also attempts the parent and a sibling path.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in abfcfd7. BRES-016 now requires the box's /sys/fs/cgroup to be a cgroup2 mount made inside its cgroup namespace, never a bind of the host's; BRES-017 covers writes to the boxes subtree and sibling leaves; BRES-070 reports advisory when the mount lacks nsdelegate.

[medium] local0 allocatable ignores the delegated chain's own limits. BRES-026 takes allocatable as capacity minus reserve. A MemoryMax= on the user slice above the delegated subtree makes that figure undeliverable: a written ram fits on paper and is OOM-killed by the ancestor, against the architecture's "gives the box exactly that limit or refuses it" and the cap being one of the three enforced guarantees.
Ask: on local0, allocatable is the smaller of capacity minus reserve and the lowest effective memory.max/memory.high along the delegated chain, reported as such in min host show; a BRES-076-style check decides it.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in abfcfd7. New BRES-080 takes local0's allocatable as the smaller of capacity minus reserve and the lowest memory.max/memory.high on the delegated chain, read by BRES-076's walk and reported in min host show; BRES-026 points at it.

[medium] Small hosts lose local0 entirely. The reserve max(4 GiB, ¼ capacity) plus BRES-078 means any local0 under about 4.5 GiB refuses every box, auto included, with or without delegation (BRES-073 keeps the accounting on advisory hosts). The architecture makes auto the portable choice ("write a size only when the workload needs one: it makes the file fail on smaller hosts") and has SharedLinux overcommit like LocalVM. S1 applies "small hosts keep current behaviour" (BRES-001's floor); S3a-3 does not.
Ask: give local0's reserve S1's shape, so allocatable keeps at least the default-box floor where capacity allows, and drop this sub-bullet.
There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in abfcfd7. BRES-080 gives the reserve S1's shape: allocatable keeps at least the smaller of 512 MiB and half of capacity, so an auto box clears BRES-078's floor from 1 GiB up. BRES-034's refuse-every-box sub-bullet and its open question are gone.

There was a problem hiding this comment.
Fixed in abfcfd7. BRES-072 now decides local-minvmd0 by BRES-070's detection: advisory when BRES-011's mount fails or the memory controller is missing, with a test for that path.

The box mounts its own cgroup2 view, never a bind of the host's, and a host without nsdelegate or a memory controller reports advisory (BRES-016, BRES-017, BRES-070, BRES-072). local0 allocatable is bounded by the delegated chain's limits and its reserve keeps S1's small-host shape, replacing the refuse-every-box sub-bullet (BRES-080, BRES-026). A stopped box reserves nothing and resume is an admission (BRES-041, BRES-081). cpu_arch refusals carry insufficient_resources with their own figures and remedy (BRES-033). Sources name the BOX-064 layer or the Box Spec file (BRES-032, BRES-068). PSI joins zram as a guest-kernel prerequisite, the nesting cap is attributed to the architecture, and five open questions close into Design reasoning. [medium] No requirement gives local0 an allocatable when no subtree is delegated. BRES-080 is the only statement of the local0 reserve and allocatable, and it applies only WHERE the host delegates a cgroup2 subtree. BRES-026 has the same scope. Without delegation, BRES-073 still does the fit and reservation accounting, BRES-078 still tests one half of allocatable, BRES-067 still reports allocatable, and the First slice refuses with exit 8 on local0. Each of these needs a figure that no requirement defines.
Source: Box Resources, "The host's side". Every host reports allocatable. An advisory host "still does admission's accounting (fit, reservations, quota)".
Required change: state the reserve formula for every local0, with or without delegation. Apply the chain-limit bound only where a delegated subtree exists. Add a test for the host without delegation, or extend advisory_host_admits_by_accounting_without_limit to assert the figure.

[low] The spec names commands that the architecture removed after arch_sha. arch_sha is 5c12015 (2026-09-23). The architecture has since made the grammar noun-first with no top-level shortcuts (gominimal/arch #124), and the BOX spec on main is written against that grammar.

Required change: set arch_sha to the current commit and use that sha in the arch: link and the Context link, as the template requires. Name min task run in BRES-048. In BRES-064, put the line on min box list, or state that min ls is a legacy alias that the box CLI spec keeps.

Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): name one local provider per deployment style, per arch#45's ruling gominimal/arch#45 ruled on 2026-10-27 that the local providers are local, local-minvmd and local-box, one per deployment style, and that the 0..N suffix names their hosts. BCLI-046 now names the three providers and the hosts by daemon instance; only local-minimald stays as a one-release alias, in its own WHERE sub-bullet. local-minvmd is the provider's name again, so the Rollout no longer lists NET-049, NET-051 and TEL-034. The S16 non-goal records that the daemons serve the providers over their sockets, and a design-reasoning paragraph carries the ruling. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): keep min box spec's path form and add the entry and box forms on top Main's min box spec [path] renders the Box Egress Proxy rows (BEP-038). BCLI-021 now keeps that form as a sub-bullet, renders BEP-038's rows in the entry form, and BCLI-022 resolves a box only when the argument names neither a directory nor an entry. The directory-first precedence is an open question. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): narrow the self non-goal to the verbs BCLI specifies Main's min box audit already takes self and --parent self (BEP-042). The Non-goals now defer self only on min box spec, show and events, and --parent self only on the verbs this spec specifies. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): cite BVOL and BRES as their open PRs, and state BOX's missing restart BVOL is proposed in gominimal#1990 and BRES in gominimal#1762 (epic gominimal/inbox#698); neither is on main, so BCLI cites them as the open PRs. BOX defines no restart for an until_stopped box and sends those rules to the Agent Box epic gominimal/inbox#678, so the Rollout line says so and an open question asks which spec defines the operation. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): print alias hints after the command, and keep the global --provider BCLI-042 and BCLI-046 now print their hint once the command's own work ends, after any attached terminal is released, so no hint precedes the shell of session activate, bare session attach, or a healthy start under --provider local-minimald. The Non-goals and BCLI-026 now defer only --all-providers and --provider naming a remote provider: the global --provider flag stays as the local-provider selector the box verbs take. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): verify BCLI-049 on the VM lane and BCLI-044 against the reference BCLI-049's test is now a scripts/session-e2e.sh case, the form NET-049 and NET-107 use for VM-lane behaviour. BCLI-044 now names the pages it binds (the CLI reference and the sessions concept page) and is checked by a test that reads them, the form NET-036 and NET-111 use; the justfile has no doc-check recipe and the spec skills prescribe none. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): state BCLI's requirements and reasons without decision history Drops the was-BOX provenance comments, the dates, who decided what, the retired-number notes and the plan-task references. Design reasoning keeps each reason and each alternative, stated as a reason. The Rollout's NET-015 line now names what must change before BCLI-066 ships rather than a plan task. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): drop local-minvmd from the expiring aliases local-minvmd is a canonical provider name (BCLI-046); only local-minimald is a one-release alias. Design reasoning now says so. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): choose BCLI-074's refusal hint by lifetime, as BCLI-009 does The sub-bullet picked its hint by Box Type (task); it now names min task run for any box that does not set lifetime = "until_stopped", the same rule BCLI-009 and BCLI-068 use, so behaviour keys on a spec attribute and never on a type name. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): cover the secret invariant by BCLI-063 alone The invariant holds in every output mode; BCLI-063 states that universal with its property. BCLI-021 is the min box spec requirement and renders one of those modes, so it is not the requirement that covers the invariant. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): tighten BCLI's changed lines to the prose rules Splits BCLI-044's alias-note clause into a sub-bullet and BCLI-022's argument precedence into a sub-bullet, states the alias hints as printing after the command ends, and shortens the changed Design reasoning, Rollout and Open question sentences so the lines this round touched add no Vale alerts beyond the verify-line pair every verify line carries. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): close four BCLI review gaps on start, run, stop and restart BCLI-029's off-TTY refusal now runs before the box is created and creates nothing. The fresh-instance reasoning states the refused alternative as one. Bare `stop` maps to `host stop` on the one host the global `--provider` and `--minimal-dir` flags select, with `--force` carried over. The Rollout names the `min box restart` hints of BCLI-009 and BCLI-068 as needing the same daemon operation as BCLI-074. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): bring BCLI's prose to the repo's Vale rules Split long sentences, drop semicolons, passives and unapproved modals, and restate the AI-tell patterns Vale flags. Each requirement keeps its EARS pattern, id, tier and verify line. The alerts left are on the format's verify lines, the owner field, the template's heading dash, and the user stories transcribed from the epic. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): keep bare stop's refusal in its alias window; track restart Bare `min stop` keeps today's refusal while boxes run during its alias window, and maps to `host stop --force` under `--force`. The Rollout names gominimal#2761, a spec-29 amendment in its own PR, as the dependency of BCLI-074 and the `min box restart` hints, which closes the matching Open question. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): map every activate flag and follow arch at 7a86ec7 Rework BCLI-042's alias table: a plain `session activate` maps to `session start --detach` and `--attach` to `session start`, every activate flag is mapped (the network policy flags through the command-line override layer, so `--deny-all-egress` is never dropped), and an alias refuses any flag it does not map with exit 2. `session hooks` maps to `box spec <box>`, which now lists each hook with its declarer. Re-pin the architecture to 7a86ec7 and follow it: `box run` refuses a pty_enabled entry, bare `box attach` and `session attach` are permanent with the attach exit codes 0, 7 and 254, exec refusals name exits 2 and 5, and the held-volume exit code is left to BVOL. Also: BOX-005's second ambiguity refusal, the byte comparison in BCLI-021, BCLI-073 narrowed to `loadout_mode = "open"`, the BCLI-064/BCLI-042 order, `box wait --timeout`, the global-flags non-goal, the provider non-goals after the Box Provider API, and the Rollout's missing citers, scripts and the gominimal#2834 dependency. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): cite the BCLI residual issues and answer the review threads Cite gominimal#2868 for the verbs with no owner, gominimal/arch#160 for the 124 row, gominimal/arch#161 for --no-hooks and --sync, and gominimal#2834 for both halves of BCLI-006, whose disk figure excludes Box Volumes (BVOL-008). From minimal-review on c4896c0: attach fails off a TTY before it resumes the box; a stop or removal ends an attach with 254, not 0; `session hooks <name>` resolves a box, never an entry; and an alias's window ends one release after its listed citers move, stated in the requirement as well as the Rollout. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): put an alias's machine-mode hint in the error object and map short flags From minimal-review on 4b494ed: a failing alias under -o json puts its hint in BCLI-033's error object rather than a second stderr line, and a short flag (-n, -f) maps wherever its long form maps. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): state the bare stop alias's running-box check and its exit code From minimal-review on 990008d: `host stop` stops running boxes, so the bare `stop` alias is not a pure mapping. It checks for running boxes first and refuses with exit 2, keeping today's message byte for byte because the installer matches it. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): keep a detached PTY box's terminal input for a later attach From minimal-review on ef58775: BCLI-029 closed stdin on every unattached start, including the `start --detach` that a plain `session activate` now maps to, which would leave a later attach unable to type. The close now applies only without `pty_enabled`. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): answer Norrie's review at 990008d - BCLI-022 lists hooks without a declarer: BOX-068 stores the merged expanded spec, so the record keeps none. Open question for the BOX amendment that would restore it. - Rollout lists the scripts each alias's window waits on, session-e2e.sh among them, and gains `session rename`. - The activate alias's network flags each name the spec key they set. - `session destroy --all` and `--force` on a missing box keep today's behaviour through the window. - The `session hooks` hint names the box id. - BCLI-064 states the parse-first order in its text. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): scope `session destroy --all` to session boxes and exempt prune --dry-run From minimal-review on 1bd4c43: `session destroy --all` now removes only boxes of type `session`, as BCLI-030 filters the session verbs; a dry-run prune needs no --yes off a TTY; and the design reasoning no longer claims `box spec` shows each hook's declarer. Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 5.5 <noreply@anthropic.com> Claude-Session: https://claude.ai/code/session_01NSAwDroXL6KqsSxUzdbZGw * docs(specs): order BCLI-068's --exec refusals From minimal-review on b3d698f: an ended exec without a PTY matched the exit 2 and both exit 4 rules. The unknown-id check now comes first, then the ended exec, then the live exec with no PTY.
