docs(specs): pin the arch-linked specs to the commit they cite - #1760
Conversation
Two specs link gominimal/arch by `blob/main`, so what they cite moves under them without a diff here. gominimal/arch has no tags or releases, so a commit sha is the only ref that stays put. Specs 18 (box networking) and 24 (box egress proxy) now carry `arch_sha: "5c1201517ba07347344fb9725efb06ee39d5c03e"` after their `arch:` line, and every `github.com/gominimal/arch/blob/main/` link in them, the `arch:` line included, uses that sha as its ref. Nine links are rewritten; every linked path exists at that commit. No prose changes. This is the frontmatter foundry's spec template asks for since gominimal/foundry@485d77a, whose advisory findings F005 (an arch-linked spec names its arch commit) and F006 (every arch link uses that commit) the two specs now clear. docs/specs/TEMPLATE.md is refreshed from that source the way the copy is installed: the template verbatim, plus the SOURCE stamp block naming the foundry commit it was copied from, which is what foundry's spec-drift check strips before comparing. The stamp names the squash-merge commit on foundry main, since the check resolves it there. The source's `arch:` placeholder is unquoted and contains `: `, which Vale's front-matter reader rejects as YAML, so `just lint-prose` stops on TEMPLATE.md; the previous install quoted that line in place, which is the one-line drift foundry's check has been reporting. Matching the source is what the drift gate requires; quoting the placeholder is a foundry change.

Why
foundry's spec linter now carries two advisory findings, added by gominimal/foundry#141: F005, a spec whose
arch:links gominimal/arch must carryarch_sha:(a 40-hex commit), and F006, everygithub.com/gominimal/arch/blob/<ref>/link in the spec, thearch:line included, must use that sha as<ref>. Two specs here link gominimal/arch byblob/main, so what they cite can move under them without a diff. gominimal/arch has no tags or releases, so a commit sha is the only ref that stays put. What
docs/specs/TEMPLATE.mdis refreshed from foundry'sspec/template.mdthe way the copy is installed: the source verbatim plus the SOURCE stamp block, restamped to the squash-merge commit on foundry main (485d77a), which is the commit foundry'sspec-driftcheck resolves. Stripping the stamp block yields the source byte for byte.5c1201517ba07347344fb9725efb06ee39d5c03e(arch main head):arch_sha:added directly after thearch:line in spec 18 and spec 24.blob/main/toblob/5c12015…/(5 in spec 18, 4 in spec 24; 4 distinct paths). Not in this PR
arch:placeholder (<gominimal/arch link, or: none>) is unquoted and contains:, which Vale's front-matter reader rejects as YAML. The previous install here had quoted that line in place (from #1352), which is the one-line drift foundry's check reports against this repo. This PR matches the source, as the drift gate requires; quoting the placeholder (as the newarch_sha:line already is) belongs in foundry.Verification
foundry linter (
spec_lint.py --repo-root . <spec 18> <spec 24> TEMPLATE.md, from the merged source): 125 advisory findings, 0 × F005, 0 × F006. Everything else is pre-existing and untouched: 41 × P004 in spec 18 and 78 × P004 in spec 24 (named tests not yet in the tree), and on the template 2 × S006 / 4 × S007 (the template's own unanswered placeholders).Link existence at the pinned sha, via
gh api repos/gominimal/arch/contents/<path>?ref=5c12015…: all 4 d 10000 istinct paths resolve (architecture.md,box.toml,specs/authn-authz/gatehouse-spec.md,specs/networking/deployment-and-egress-gateway.md); noblob/mainarch links remain in either spec.Drift rule:
sed '/^SOURCE gominimal\/foundry/,/^$/d' docs/specs/TEMPLATE.mddiffs clean against foundryorigin/main:spec/template.md, andcompare/485d77a…mainon foundry reportsidentical.just lint-proseon the two specs: no new alerts on changed lines. The one alert pair on a changed line (spec 18 line 979,ste.Semicolon/ai-tells.SemicolonUsageon; design §4.3) pre-exists on main at line 978 and is prose, so it is left alone. Pre-existing totals in those two files: 1127 errors, 589 warnings. OnTEMPLATE.md, Vale stops at the front matter (yaml: line 5: mapping values are not allowed in this context) because of the unquoted source placeholder described above; with that line quoted in a scratch copy, the template's alert set is the same 12 errors as before this PR, none on the stamp lines.Summary by CodeRabbit
