I arrived to pick up my car with my wife and children but did not have a credit card. I did have the debit card with which I paid in full for the car.they were incredibly unhelpful and left us stranded. I had booked the car for 2 weeks and they would not refund a penny. They have a 48 hour cancellation policy yet they stuck to their guns and charged the full 2 weeks rental despite me not having use of the car for a second.
The complaints process is pointless and I can’t even give them a review on their own site. They quote great reviews on their site which are at odds with the trustpilot reviews.
I’ll never use this company again.

The final price was higher than the search price.

Sensible, efficient car hire

I am giving 1 star only because zero or negative stars are not an option. This was hands down the worst car rental experience I have ever had.

I arrived at the desk with my fully prepaid voucher (Booking ref: IT888405790), traveling with small children and luggage. Instead of honoring the agreed terms, they forced me to sign up for unnecessary extra insurance and bogus cleaning fees, effectively doubling the price of the rental. It was a complete shakedown: take the extra charges or be left stranded with no car and lose the prepaid money.

To make matters worse, Holiday Autos (Case ref: 03294138) completely washed their hands of the issue, hiding behind the fact that I "signed at the desk" under blatant coercion.

Avoid Green Motion and Holiday Autos at all costs. This is an aggressive, predatory business model designed to trap families upon arrival.

Before you paste your standard generic reply claiming that I signed the agreement: please explain why on earth any customer would willingly ask to buy an expensive duplicate insurance at the desk when the rental and full coverage were already 100% paid in advance with the original booking? The signature was obtained under pure coercion.

order was not filfilled. offered a higher price which i rejected. still awaiting refund. since been asked to confirm details for a car im not renting because the order couldn’t be fulfilled. awful and time consuming experience

For transparency, following up Holiday Autos' reply to my previous review. Of course, I have already raised the complaint (18 days ago) and they have made absolutely no effort to resolve it despite me chasing several times. Avoid this company at all costs

Empresa interesseira que não protege os clientes. Tive um problema no aluguer de um carro, alem de incongruentes protegeram a empresa wheego de aluguer que me burlou, mesmo sabendo que estão a fazer algo ilegal, não fizeram nada para me ajudar. Vergonhoso.

I booked green motion through holiday autos.
Awful experience, green motion would not accept my credit card due to my middle name being an initial on card, I don’t use my middle name and on initial hire it just put my name and surname, so they charged an extra 315 euro to use debit card instead, and pay for super waiver. Hired cars many times with no issue in Europe and Italy frequently. It seems that this company will do any thing to squeeze money out of you, and then the car provided was full of scratches, tire rims damaged and interior poor, worse car I have ever hired. Worse car rental experience ever and do not recommend this company. It has also put me off holiday autos also as difficult to contact, only chat facility and whilst trying to contact them, green motion were trying to cancel my booking.

I booked a zero‑deposit rental car through Holiday Autos and paid in full. The voucher clearly stated that I should pick up the car at FOX Counter, Denver International Airport, while Europcar was listed as the provider under the vehicle photo.

At FOX, my details were found, my driver’s license was copied, and the reservation appeared in their system. However, the booking could not be activated because it was not confirmed and could not be processed without a deposit — even though my reservation explicitly stated no deposit required.

The entire partner chain Holiday Autos (Etrawler/CarTrawler), Europcar and FOX failed. Despite having paid in advance for a confirmed Zero‑Deposit reservation, no vehicle was provided.

The staff at FOX were professional and tried to help, but Holiday Autos failed to transmit a complete and confirmed booking. This experience significantly affected my trip. I cannot recommend Holiday Autos as a broker.

Ich habe über Holiday Autos eine kautionsfreie („Zero Deposit“) Mietwagenbuchung abgeschlossen und vollständig bezahlt. Im Voucher stand eindeutig, dass ich das Auto beim FOX Counter, Denver International Airport abholen soll, während unter dem Fahrzeugfoto Europcar als Anbieter angegeben war.

Vor Ort bei FOX wurden meine Daten gefunden, mein Führerschein kopiert und die Reservierung im System angezeigt. Trotzdem konnte die Buchung nicht freigegeben werden, weil sie im System nicht bestätigt war und ohne Kaution nicht weiterbearbeitet werden konnte – obwohl meine Buchung ausdrücklich ohne Kaution war.

Die gesamte Partnerkette zwischen Holiday Autos (Etrawler/CarTrawler), Europcar und FOX hat nicht funktioniert. Trotz vollständig bezahlter Buchung und bestätigter Zero‑Deposit‑Option wurde mir kein Fahrzeug bereitgestellt.

Die Mitarbeiter bei FOX waren bemüht und professionell, aber Holiday Autos hat die Buchung nicht korrekt übermittelt. Diese Erfahrung hat meine Reise erheblich beeinträchtigt. Ich kann Holiday Autos als Vermittler nicht empfehlen.

Holiday Autos hat auf meine Bewertung geantwortet und mich gebeten, mich per E‑Mail zu melden.
Ich habe ja bereits Kontakt aufgenommen und meine Buchungsnummer übermittelt.

Very straightforward. Just a little more explanation of the add-ons would be helpful.

Wanted to extend my booking 7 days and leave at Norfolk Virginia instead of Ohare Chicago quoted 2900 usd. Crazy money. Is this because its a hol auto booking instead of a direct booking

1. I could not choose a different drop off of the car.
2. I want to be charged in USD and credit card account is in USD NOT IN EURO??

Booking and, if needed, cancelling a car booking, is all very straightforward with great communication throughout the whole process. Price is competitive with great discount offers.

Unfortunately, our experience was disappointing. We had to wait an extremely long time at the rental desk, and the service was very slow. Despite already having comprehensive insurance from Germany, a lot of time was spent trying to sell us additional insurance that we did not need.

The communication and handling by email afterwards was good, but overall the long waiting time and unnecessary sales pressure made the experience frustrating. Next time, we would definitely choose a different rental car company.
