I spent much of it building businesses and partner ecosystems across enterprise technology, cloud, and software. Over the past five years, I moved much closer to the application of AI — working with industrial AI companies, deploying AI into real production environments, and more recently helping companies think through the technology, economics, partners, and operating models required to turn AI ambition into reality. That experience has reinforced something I believe strongly: AI isn’t simply changing what we build. It is fundamentally changing how we build it. That is a big part of what makes the opportunity at Snyk so exciting. As AI and autonomous agents dramatically accelerate software development, the way we think about security has to evolve with them. Snyk has an extraordinary foundation in developer security, combined with an ambitious vision for securing this new AI-native world through the Snyk AI Security Platform and Evo. I’m equally excited about what this means for our partners. My job is to help make Snyk’s global partner ecosystem an even greater engine of customer value and growth. The opportunity isn’t simply to do more business through partners — it is to grow with them: creating new solutions, services, routes to market, and customer outcomes together. Mercer Rowe udostępnił(a) toThe War over AI Economics: Ecosystem Winners — System Integrators In my last post, I argued that the most important AI ecosystem debate may not be “open vs. closed” or “who builds the biggest data centers.” The more important question is: How will AI ultimately show up on the balance sheet of the companies that use it? That question creates a major opportunity for one ecosystem category in particular: System Integrators. Several things seem increasingly clear: 1. Enterprises will not standardize on one AI model. 2. AI costs will need to be actively governed. 3. AI architecture will become a business architecture decision. 4. Trust, observability, and governance will matter as much as model performance. 5. The real value will come from workflow integration, not model access. This is where System Integrators become critical. In my research, I am hearing consistent concern from Enterprises about vendors telling them that their model, cloud, chip, tool, or platform is the center of the universe. They need help answering the harder questions: Which workloads require frontier closed models? Which can run on smaller, cheaper, task-specific, or open models? Which should run in a hyperscaler environment, sovereign cloud, inference cloud, private cloud, on-prem environment, or at the edge? Where does GPU acceleration matter? Where is CPU-based inference good enough? Where should the company optimize for cost, latency, data residency, regulatory control, resilience, or user experience? That decision process will not be solved by a single vendor. It requires someone who can connect business process, enterprise architecture, model selection, cloud strategy, governance, security, and ROI. That is why the strongest System Integrators may become one of the most important control points in enterprise AI. The market is already signaling this shift. Large generalist integrators are building AI practices, AI platforms, reusable accelerators, and model ecosystems. Regional and specialist integrators are positioning around sovereignty, industry workflows, AI infrastructure, regulated deployments, and secure implementation. But the real opportunity is not “AI services” in the generic sense. It is helping customers move from experimentation to an operating model where AI is measurable, governed, economically sustainable, and embedded into how work gets done. The weaker integrators will become labor capacity around someone else’s platform. The stronger ones will become AI economics partners. Because the next enterprise AI question is not simply: “Which model should we use?” It is: “Which combination of models, infrastructure, governance, workflows, and economics creates the best business outcome?” That is a System Integrator question.

Mercer Rowe opublikował(a) toThe War for AI Economics: Ecosystem Winners I have spent much of the last two months researching AI economics across the ecosystem, grounded in NVIDIA's 5-layer cake model. My current conclusion: the most important debate may not be open vs. closed source, frontier model performance, data center build-out, sovereign AI, inference clouds, or agent platforms. Those all matter, but the bigger question is this: How will AI ultimately show up on the P&L of the companies using it? A few things seem increasingly clear: 1. AI agents will consume far more tokens than chatbot-style usage. 2. Open and open-weight models are narrowing the gap with closed frontier models in important domains. 3. Infrastructure constraints will remain a gating factor. 4. Enterprises are moving from AI experimentation to AI cost governance. 5. Customers will increasingly demand optionality across models, platforms, and deployment patterns. With that framing, my current view is that several ecosystem categories are especially well-positioned: System integrators - because enterprises need help connecting AI strategy, implementation, governance, ROI, and operating change. Infrastructure providers - because demand will remain enormous across GPUs, CPUs for inference, memory, networking, storage, security, power, cooling, data centers, and connectivity. Model brokers and inference clouds - because customers will need help accessing, routing, optimizing, and governing multiple models without managing all the underlying infrastructure themselves. Developer and orchestration technologies - because the companies that make AI easier to build, deploy, monitor, secure, govern, and optimize will create durable leverage. The AI ecosystem will not be won only by the companies with the biggest models. It will also be won by the companies that help customers answer three practical questions: Where/how should we use AI? Which model or platform should we use for each task? How do we make sure the economics, security, and governance actually work? Mercer Rowe opublikował(a) toI’m continuing my research into how enterprises should think about AI strategy across the technology stack, partner ecosystem, and open-/closed-source choices. One theme keeps coming up: many companies have moved quickly from “How do we encourage AI adoption?” to “How do we control AI costs and prove ROI?” A few early hypotheses I’m testing: 1. AI cost optimization will increasingly be about matching the right model and infrastructure to the right use case, not simply negotiating lower prices. 2. The open vs. closed model debate will become more practical than philosophical: which workloads need frontier models, which can run on smaller or open models, and which require sovereignty, transparency, or portability? 3. The growth of model routers, AI gateways, inference clouds, sovereign clouds, and neoclouds suggests that enterprises want more flexibility than a single end-to-end hosted AI platform can provide. 4. The fact that major players such as Microsoft and NVIDIA are supporting broader model and infrastructure ecosystems reinforces this point: the market seems to be moving toward multi-model, multi-cloud, workload-specific AI architectures. 5. System integrators have a growing role as more neutral advisors, helping customers define usage policies, ROI models, vendor-selection frameworks, and governance structures. My current view: the next enterprise AI challenge is not just adoption. It is disciplined scaling. Mercer Rowe opublikował(a) toI’m doing some private research as part of a business school / executive learning project on a question that I think will shape the next generation of enterprise technology ecosystems: Will AI consolidate power into a small number of closed platforms, or will open-source and sovereign approaches create a more distributed ecosystem? The debate is often framed around model performance. That is obviously important, but I think the bigger strategic questions may sit one layer above and one layer below the model. Above the model: What happens to the application layer when products are increasingly built on top of foundation models, agents, AI-native interfaces, and platform-specific capabilities? Below the model: What happens when the ability to compete depends not only on software, but also on capital, talent, compute, data, infrastructure, and ecosystem access? I’m especially interested in what this means for enterprise customers and the partner ecosystem — sovereign clouds, ISVs, GSIs, regional SIs, infrastructure providers, telcos, MSPs, tooling vendors, resellers, and cloud service providers. The NVIDIA “AI stack” / 5-layer cake metaphor is one useful way to frame the question: different layers may have different winners, different degrees of openness, and different partner opportunities. I’d welcome perspectives from people working in AI, cloud, infrastructure, enterprise software, regulated industries, public sector, sovereignty, or partner ecosystems. Last week, the Women in Revenue AI Leadership Council met for the first time in Boston. I teach a method I call humble bragging. Five steps for talking about your own work without shrinking or overselling. It would be strange to teach it and not use it. Credit. None of this happens without Briar Harvey 🐉, Sirisha (Siri) Swahari, 👠 Emily Leahy, Urvashi Batra, Daniela G., Diana Locke Brunelle, and Dina Habib OMara, who gave us a full day and did not coast through a minute of it. Daniela had to leave before the photo, so look for her name rather than her face. Sarah Squires and Sally Abdelnabi, kept the whole thing upright. The team at Snyk gave us the room. My co-chair Virginia (Ginna) Santya designed the arc of the day. Hard work. Months went into one day. Pre-reads, research, and a run of show built and rebuilt so the room would produce something rather than just agree with itself. Vulnerability. There were moments I wondered whether a room this rigorous would land anywhere a seller could use on Monday. That is the risk in work this ambitious. It landed. Duty. My mission is to empower one million women to sit at the table of their dreams by 2030. A Council is that mission at scale. Not one woman at a time, but the systems deciding who gets a seat at all. Gratitude. Thank you to Women in Revenue, to every member who gave us a full day, and to our research fellows drafting now. When we publish, it will carry evidence. Thank you. It has been wonderful to reconnect with so many of you. After many years in the technology industry, most recently at AWS, I’ve started a new chapter. Earlier this month, we established REFLEKT(https://reflekt.jp/), built around a simple idea: helping people use their limited time for what truly matters. Together with a small international team, we are exploring how technology — particularly AI — can become a more mindful partner in everyday life: helping people notice what matters, make their own choices, and enjoy the process of growing. We are still at an early stage — learning, experimenting, and building one step at a time. At the same time, I’ve also begun working with business leaders as an executive advisor, bringing my experience in strategy, go-to-market, business operations, and organizational transformation into a very different kind of environment. In many ways, this new chapter feels both familiar and completely new: working with people I respect, solving meaningful problems, learning every day, and building from the ground up. I’m looking forward to seeing where the journey takes us. And to everyone who reached out — thank you. Your messages meant a lot!

And then Discover, remediate, validate and prevent in a continuous loop! Thats the answer we dove into as the solution to the burning problem of the moment! The most useful minute of this conversation with Alon Krifcher, Head of Applied AI at Anthropic, was the part where we drew a line between what a model provider secures and what you still have to. Model-layer hardening is real work and Anthropic does it well. That's a genuine signal and it deserves credit. It's also where their job ends and yours begins. What reaches production is your code, your agents, your credentials, your backlog. Across 4,800+ customer environments we measured new issues introduced growing 108% between Q4 2024 and Q1 2026. A manual pentest covers roughly 15 days of that year. The attacker has the other 350. That gap was never a security decision. It was a budget decision about how many days of a skilled human you could afford, and it's the constraint the attacker just escaped. The clip below is where that becomes operational. SnykSnyk’s Evo Continuous Offensive Security is GA, built in partnership with Anthropic. It puts your context, the deterministic scanning and dynamic testing we already run, and AI red teaming against the same application. On a business critical app you can run it every day. Nothing prevents that anymore. Alon's Swiss cheese framing is the one I keep coming back to. Every layer has holes. The only question is whether yours line up. Discover, remediate, validate and prevent were designed as an annual cycle, and an annual cycle is four layers with the holes pre-aligned. Supply chains today operate at a scale and level of complexity that traditional planning technology simply wasn’t designed for. That’s why I’m excited about today’s announcement from Kinaxis and NVIDIA. By bringing GPU-accelerated optimization into the Maestro platform, we’re pushing the performance ceiling for large-scale supply chain planning — enabling companies to evaluate complex scenarios dramatically faster. In testing on a semiconductor planning model with nearly 50 million decision variables, planning cycles were reduced from over three hours to about 17 minutes. What does that mean in practice? It means supply chain leaders can move from waiting for plans to run…to iterating and making decisions in real time. For organizations navigating volatility, complexity, and global scale, that shift is incredibly powerful. Great to see this innovation highlighted at NVIDIA GTC this week.
