ESA and the European Commission are joining forces with Museo Galileo on a new exhibition to explore the fascinating links between Galileo Galilei and the European satellite navigation system bearing his name.🌍 This exhibition aims to highlight how Galileo, both the scientist and the system, are profoundly connected and how centuries of scientific progress stemming from Galilei's work enabled today's satellite navigation technology serving European society, economy, science and security.🛰️ Jointly curated by the three entities and their industrial partners, the exhibition, set to open in December 2027, will trace a fascinating journey through the history of science, combining original instruments, documents and objects from the museum’s collection, exclusive audiovisual productions, interactive experiences, alongside technological equipment and models. The September equinox marks the change of season in the two hemispheres. As the Sun crosses the equator, day and night become (nearly) equal in length across the planet, with autumn beginning in the Northern Hemisphere and spring in the Southern Hemisphere. From space, MTG-I1 captured this balance as the day–night boundary, known as the terminator line, ran from pole to pole.
