Absolute failure of a system between…
Absolute failure of a system between Argos and Domestic & General—unusable serviceI bought multiple high-value items from Argos and took out the recommended insurance through Domestic & General (D&G). The setup and communication between these two companies is an absolute shambles. When you look at the D&G portal, it does not state the specific items you are paying to cover. Instead, it lists completely vague descriptions like "gaming" alongside obscure reference numbers. When questioned, D&G staff claimed they can only display the generic information that Argos provides them. To make matters worse, while trying to sort this out, two separate D&G customer service agents hung up on me.Trying to resolve this with Argos is impossible. Their automated telephone system demands an order number, but because it fails to recognise older order numbers, the system completely cuts the call off automatically. There is zero option to bypass the bot and speak to a human being. You cannot sell expensive items and insurance, and then completely isolate your customers behind broken automated phone lines and unhelpful customer service staff. Both Argos and Domestic & General need to fix this system integration immediately. A manager from Argos needs to look at the communication logs for order history and contact me to resolve this.
Because I’ve have had no luck on the phone, I will use these alternative channels to bypass their automated systems if there management complaints manager doesn’t contact me in 48 hours of 02/09/2026:
Sainsbury's Corporate Escalation: Since Argos is owned by Sainsbury's, I’ll email their executive office directly.
Executive customer relations teams have the power to bypass the standard phone queues. Everyone can try emailing the CEO's office at simon.roberts at sainsburys.co.uk
The WhatsApp Channel: Argos manages an automated but escalatable WhatsApp helper.
Texting 0345 640 2020 allows you to type "Speak to an agent" repeatedly to break through the bot system without being disconnected.
D&G Formal Complaint: To get D&G to accurately list your items, file an official complaint via their online complaints portal or customerrelations at domesticandgeneral.com
They are strictly regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) and must respond to formal insurance complaints within set legal timelines.

One star is too generous
One star is too generous – two days completely wasted
I have never experienced customer service as frustrating as this.
I ordered three storage boxes. One arrived without the essential locking clips, so I arranged a replacement. The replacement arrived today with exactly the same clips missing.
The driver told me a complete replacement would be arranged and that someone would return by around 1:30–2pm. I waited all day. Nobody came.
I had also paid someone to be available to help me organise and fill the boxes, so I have lost money as well as an entire day.
When I finally managed to get through to Customer Services, I was told my complaint had been escalated and that a manager would call me. I was also promised a courtesy call at 6pm to check that the manager had contacted me.
Neither call happened.
Then, at around 4pm, I received a message saying that I had cancelled the collection. I did not cancel it. I was waiting for Argos to turn up.
I have now wasted two days dealing with what should have been a very simple problem. I still need the box, and instead of simply resolving the issue, I am being told I have to wait again for a collection and refund.
The worst part isn't even the faulty £31 box. It's the constant promises that aren't kept, the lack of communication, the wasted time and now an inaccurate record suggesting that I cancelled something I was waiting for Argos to do.
I have never ordered from Argos before. I normally use Amazon, but I happened to find these boxes on Argos and decided to give them a try.
Never again.
There is something seriously wrong with Argos customer service. It is simply not what it should be. My advice to anyone considering ordering from Argos: don't.
Not happy
No, no, and once again no!
I have just placed an order for a vacuum cleaner. The funds have been debited from my bank account, but I have received neither a proof of payment nor a receipt.
When I called the helpline, I was told that my money would only be returned within the next 5 working days. I am left with no immediate refund and no product. I will never shop at Argos again.
Don't buy from here
Bought a cooker 4 months ago..developed a water stain on the hob complained to argos they sent an engineer and they dont want to know since they are not even prepared to chase up the engineer report i am furious and will never buy a cooker from them again..ive had really bad customer service
Argos pay is awful
Argos pay is awful and the added interest on payment plans are ridiculously high. I reached out to discuss making payments more affordable and customer service are awful and didn't seem to listen or understand what I was saying, just wanted their money. I am closing my account and once my payments cleared I will never use Argos again. A shame this company has gone so downhill.
Absolutely awful
Absolutely awful . Had a delivery not show up and can't get hold of argos at all! Absolutely awful
Do not order high-value electronics from Argos
Extremely disappointing and concerning delivery experience. I would strongly advise against ordering high-value electronic devices from Argos based on my recent experience. My iPhone 17 Pro was marked as delivered, but it was allegedly delivered to the wrong address. The delivery photo provided as proof of delivery showed only a pair of hands and a white door, with no visible door number or any clear evidence that the parcel was delivered to my address. To make matters worse, the mobile number provided for the delivery driver was never answered, making it impossible to contact the driver or resolve the issue promptly. What I find most frustrating is that, despite raising these concerns with Argos, I have received very little practical support. The response has been limited to expressions of sympathy and the opening of an investigation, while I remain without the phone I paid for. I am also concerned about the delivery process for expensive electronic devices. The phone was shipped in its original manufacturer packaging, making it obvious that the parcel contained a high-value item. There was no additional security measure, verification code, or robust proof-of-delivery process in place. This experience has left me with very little confidence in Argos's handling of expensive electronics. Until stronger delivery controls and customer protections are introduced, I would not recommend purchasing high-value items such as mobile phones from Argos.
Nothing is EVER in stock!
Nothing is EVER in stock!! And when you finally find an item that is in stock, half the time it’s now sold by a ‘trusted seller’ with a 2-8 day delivery time. I’m afraid this is why I use Amazon for 95% of my purchases now. The whole shopping experience with Argos has gone right downhill. Such a shame.

Strongly suggest you stay away from this company.
Their drivers can't drive in a straight line. One of them took the front end of our car off, and funnily enough wasn't even delivering too us.
But the driver thought the best option is to drive away from the scene. But fully caught on the neighbours camera.
1. Hitting our car.
2. Delivering the parcel whilst looking over to our home in the hope we didnt come out.
Spoke with Argos after struggling to get through to them, and 5 days later recieved an apology letter saying "allegedly one of our vehicles" before even giving us a chance to send footage over.
The drivers name was Alan and we have photos of him clear as day.
Alan can't drive... allegedly
Poor communication, missing items
I ordered 2 furniture items for delivery a couple months prior. The order was not delivered as expected and I received no communication from Argos or the delivery team as to the delivery being cancelled.
On contacting Argos I have been informed that the delivery did not take place as the items are no longer available and I have to wait for stock to be in. They could not give me any kind of time frame as to how long this will take.
Moreover when I check the website I can see both items are in stock albeit no longer at a discounted price.
Therefore I can only assume that the only reason they cannot supply me with the items is because Argos does not wish to honour the lower price. I find this highly dishonest and far below the standard I would expect of a retailer.
I informed the online agent of my dissatisfaction and they told me a manager would contact me via phone in the next 24 hours however I received no phone call.
Unfortunately there appears no way to speak to someone who knows what is going on or what the resolution may be. I have tired their chat function, email and Facebook message to no avail.
I will be avoiding ordering from Argos again after this experience.

Ordered a tumble dryer on 13 august for delivery on 17 august waited in all day no delivery. Now says will be 19 and again to wait in all day,£300 is a lot for me I am a 70 year old pensioner and need this dryer. What the hell has gone wrong with this company
Update from last week
So, another update! After last Friday, Argos said they would deliver my cooker today. So, in order to entertain this I took ANOTHER day off work. Guess what? No delivery! Am I surprised? Hell no! Am I annoyed, absolutely, I'd be insane to not be annoyed. Apparently when I finally got through to Argos customer service, DHL delivery drivers 'tried' to call me and couldn't get through, well that's odd because I don't have any missed calls and I had my phone in my hand the whole time, liars. These DHL drivers are lazy and do not want to work, hence they lie about 'attempted delivery', it's a well-known tactic they play when all they want to do is finish work early so they can go to the pub and get pissed. Half of them look drunk on the job as it is! To avoid further headache, I have simply cancelled my order and requested a full refund, I cannot deal with this a single second more. Karma, DHL and Argos will get what the have put out there in 10 fold, they treat customers like crap, they'll get theirs, looking forward to the announcement of DHL and Argos downfall. And no RAHUL, don't bother commenting on this post regarding how sorry you are and will rectify this error, no you won't, your comments are all for show, a facade, no-one believes anything you say. Fingers crossed people will learn from my experience and take their money elsewhere, corrupt DHL company that send thugs to your own home to intimidate you and then steal your order and Argos defend this behaviour, if anything, they encourage it. Disgusting.
They mislead you on consumer rights
Ben the store manager on a Saturday is a bully. He misled me on my consumer rights, questioned my character and made me feel ashamed for knowing these rights and for politely standing up for them. The other male manager then took Ben’s side and they tag-teamed me into becoming emotional and feeling like I had have no options as a customer.
I bought £230 Sony XM5 headphones in June and by mid-August they had snapped at the headband hinge due to normal use. A known design fault that many users have experienced. As it’s within 6 months of purchase the law automatically says the fault was there at manufacture and it is the retailers legal responsibility to refund, repair or replace and it is my discretion which option to pick. Ben refused me any of these options and made me feel embarrassed and upset that I was even asking. I had the receipt, return code and all original packaging.
Horrendous experience.
Argos customer service is extremely poor
Argos customer service is extremely untrained and completely unprofessional. The moment you mention the law, they panic and refuse to help. They won’t let you speak to a manager on the phone and instead send you to the store in person, and once you get there, the store refuses to take responsibility and tells you to call customer service back, who then tell you to go in person again. It’s genuinely time wasting behaviour. If you counter their misinformation, they just repeat the same points over and over, clearly unaware that Argos updated its own policy months ago. They are not trained, not informed, and not prepared to resolve even basic issues. If you’re considering buying from Argos, don’t — because the second you have the slightest problem, they will lie to your face, send you around in circles until you’re tired enough to give up, and they’ve done this to plenty of other customers too. My situation is now going down the legal route simply because nobody senior was capable of resolving a straightforward consumer‑rights matter.

Tv developed a fault within first 12 months, I received QR code and email to return item to store. After carrying it into the store, explaining i had code & wanted to buy a new one, I was told that's not the way it works and head office always send these codes & email out but you only have 30 days manufacturing guarantee. I was given the manufacturers details for me to deal with them direct and sent back out with the tv. Assistant was quite rude & arrogant
Their prices are just mad 😅
