If you ever buy a heavy use camera from Adorama, make sure you video document opening the package and the condition.

I bought a heavy use Canon 70D just to mess around with. The serial number sticker on the bottom of the camera was damaged when it was shipped by them.

It showed an "Err 70" and stopped working within the return window. I sent it back and they are denying the return because the serial number sticker is damaged. Last transaction I'll ever do with them.

I’m very disappointed with my recent experience ordering directly from Adorama.

I ordered an expensive backpack and was originally given the impression that it would arrive within a few days. More than a week later, I still had not received it. I also received emails indicating that the item had shipped, while Adorama’s own tracking information continued to show that my order was only confirmed and had not actually shipped. That conflicting information made the situation even more frustrating.

I also purchased Adorama Protect/Extend Shipping Protection with my order. During my first call with customer service, the representative initially told me that because I had purchased the additional shipping protection, I should contact the shipping protection service, and she provided me with their phone number.

At that point, I asked her what would have happened if I had NOT paid extra for shipping protection. That was when I began getting more information about what was actually happening with my order.

I had to continue asking questions in order to get details. The representative seemed very hesitant to explain the situation, and it felt as though I was being redirected to the protection company instead of Adorama taking responsibility for figuring out what happened to an order that had apparently never even left their warehouse.

After I questioned what would have happened without the protection, the representative then told me not to worry about contacting the shipping protection company after all. That made the whole interaction even more confusing. It left me wondering why I was originally being told to contact them in the first place.

During a later conversation, I was eventually told that there was an issue locating my order in the warehouse and that an investigation would have to be opened. At that point, I simply asked for the order to be canceled.

However, I was told that they could not cancel it yet and that I would have to wait several more business days just to receive another update while they investigate what happened internally.

That is probably the most frustrating part of this entire experience. Whatever happened to the item inside Adorama’s warehouse is something Adorama should investigate on its end. As the customer, I should not have to continue waiting on an order that Adorama apparently cannot locate, especially after I have already requested that the order be canceled.

The representative during my later conversation was polite, but there were numerous extended holds, and getting clear information about what was happening took far too long. During my first interaction in particular, the representative seemed disengaged and very hesitant to provide information unless I continued asking questions.

I also encountered pages on Adorama’s website that would not load when I tried to check information or leave feedback, giving me “Page Not Found” messages.

Overall, the entire process has been unnecessarily confusing and frustrating. Between conflicting shipping information, an order that apparently became lost within the warehouse, being initially redirected to a shipping protection company, repeatedly having to ask for basic information, long holds, and then being unable to immediately cancel an order that Adorama itself cannot locate, I am not impressed with the experience.

After this, I personally would be very hesitant to purchase directly from Adorama again. If I need something they sell in the future, I would much rather purchase through another retailer with a more straightforward shipping, tracking, cancellation, and customer service process.

For an expensive purchase, I expected much better communication, accountability, and customer service.
