The Tolls I Reach for First

I bought the nine piece utensil set because I needed utensils to replace the old plastic ones next to my stove. The grain in the wood makes it look homey. It feels nice to hold while cooking. I have been using the spoons for soups, pastas, sauces and weekend breakfasts without marring my pans. The different shaped utensils are all very handy the one with slots, in it and the spaghetti spoon. It has been easy to clean the utensils, just warm water, some dish soap and a quick wipe down after. I also like that the utensils all fit nicely on my counter top. After cooking with the utensils a times these utensils have become the first things I grab every day now.

I was proud to support a Canadian company by purchasing from Teakora. However they warehouse in China and are careful to give just enough information to make you think you are buying Canadian. You aren’t. You are buying from China.

Shipped from China

In your previous response to complaints made below you stated the following:

Our teakwood is sourced directly from **Thailand**, where teak is naturally grown. We work with an **established, family owned teak producer in Thailand**, along with skilled local craftsmen and artisans who manufacture our products and bring our designs to life. **Our teakora utensils are made in Thailand, not China.**

If the utensils are made in Thailand then please explain why they are being shipped from China.

Antwort von Teakora

Hi,

Thank you for your question.

The fact that your package is being shipped through China does **not mean that the utensils are made in China**. The shipping location refers to the **logistics and fulfillment process**, not the country where the products are manufactured.

China is a major global logistics hub, with extensive shipping and distribution networks connecting countries throughout Asia and around the world. Since Thailand is geographically close to China, it can make sense for international shipments to pass through Chinese logistics hubs before continuing to their final destination.

To clarify, our Teakora utensils are **made in Thailand**, while the shipping route may involve China as part of the logistics process.

Best regards,
Customer Experience Team

I am OBSESSED with my 9 piece utensils

I am OBSESSED with my 9 piece utensils. After many years of using toxic, plastic utensils and cheap wooden spoons I finally decided to purchase these and could not be any happier. The wood is so beautiful, you can feel and see the difference between these and cheap ones. They will last me a lifetime with the right care.

Look great no issues for me

I just received my order. They all look well made with no cracks. Beautiful teak wood.
After reading reviews I inspected them and I believe them to be of good quality.

False Advertising. Made in China. No returns.

Wish there was zero stars.
This company is a "front". They claim to be a "proudly Canadian" company with Canadian products. Well, no. When pressed, they say that their products are sourced from a family business in Thailand. Their 30-day risk free trial? Hah! If you want a refund, you have to ship (with tracking) to their depot in China. (the shipping will likely cost more than the product). Oh, and one more - IF they accept your return, you will be refunded the "product cost" - which likely means the pennies on the dollar that they acquire these from some sweatshop in China.
Oh - they also say that they have a 30-day risk free trial - "Love it or return it for a full refund" - but their return policy states that the product must be returned unused, as shipped, in its original packaging. How can you try it if it has to stay in the bubble wrap?!

Do NOT buy from these liars and scammers!!!

Their reply on their return policy is inaccurate.

Return Policy

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your order to request a return.

To be eligible for a return, your item must be unused, in the same condition you received it, and in its original packaging.

To request a return, please contact us at help_shopteakora.com or 800-384-0810. Once your request has been reviewed and approved, we'll provide instructions on how and where to return your order. Returns sent without first contacting us will not be accepted.

Unless otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws, customers are responsible for return shipping costs.

If you have any questions regarding a return, please contact help_shopteakora.com.

Note how they also inconveniently don't mention you have to pay for tracked shipping back to China and any import duties?! And IF they accept your return, they will refund you the "product cost".

Here's another great thing about their return policy:

Items ineligible for returns:

- Sale or clearance items
(so if you took advantage of one of their sales or discount codes - they have an out to deny you a return).

Do NOT do business with this company!!!

P.S. The quote from Canada Post to ship it back? $100.29. So, that's their scam - as no-one is going to pay more than the value of their return to send it back (oh - and there would likely be additional import duties imposed by sending it back as well).

Antwort von Teakora

Hi,

We’re sorry to hear about your experience and would like to clarify several statements in your review that are inaccurate.

Teakora is a Canadian owned company. Our products are crafted through our production partners in Thailand, where we work with a family-owned business specializing in teakwood products. We have never claimed that every product is physically manufactured in Canada.

Regarding our return policy, we do accept returns within the applicable return period. Our policy requires products to be returned in accordance with the stated conditions so that returned items can be properly inspected and processed. Customers are absolutely able to inspect and try their products; the requirement regarding original packaging is intended for products being returned, not to suggest that customers cannot open or examine their purchase.

We also want to clarify that refunds are based on the applicable purchase amount and are not calculated based on manufacturing or sourcing costs, as suggested in this review.

We understand that international return shipping can be frustrating, and we appreciate feedback regarding our policies. However, we respectfully ask that concerns be based on accurate information about our company, products, and policies.

We do accept returns and honor eligible refunds in accordance with our published return policy. We are always willing to assist customers directly with questions or concerns regarding an order before assumptions are made about our business practices.

Best regards,

Teakora Customer Experience Team

Misleading website

Misleading website. They're very vocal about being Canadian owned but zero mention on their website about not being made in Canada. You can absolutely buy imported teak and manufacture the utensils here; the excuse of teak growing in Thailand is a silly response to another review here for why they aren't made here. It's fine if they're made abroad but don't try and stamp Canadian on every page of your website and social media to basically maple wash it as being a Canadian product. The business owner chose to leave that part out for a reason despite having a large FAQ section. There's even an FAQ that's say the teak is "sourced from Thailand", why no mention that they're made there? "Orders are fulfilled through our trusted warehouse and logistics partners." Classic drop shipping lingo.

With all the drop shipping "Canadian" companies popping up (their website registered April 06 2026) it's difficult to trust the brand.

*Follow-up to initial Teakora reply*
Your reply basically reinforces my concerns and reiterates my points.

Respectfully, your comment is describing a drop shipping company. I would implore you to lookup the definition of drop shipping. If your goods are made to order and shipped from a manufacturer or supplier abroad then it fits the bill.
"Because our supply chain involves international partners, tracking information may show other countries during transit."

Your response would have been better to take the critique and the opportunity to update your website to be clear about where the product is being made and where they are being shipped from, rather than defending every point. You should understand how important it is to Canadians these days to have clarity on Canadian businesses and their products, to what level they are Canadian.

Antwort von Teakora

Hi,

Thank you for sharing your concerns. We’d like to clarify a few points, as some of the statements in this review are inaccurate.

Teakora is **Canadian-owned and operated**, and our Canadian team oversees our product standards and quality control. Being Canadian owned does not mean that every component of a product must be manufactured in Canada.

We also want to clarify that international fulfillment or logistics should not be confused with manufacturing. Because our supply chain involves international partners, tracking information may show other countries during transit. This does not mean the products were manufactured in those locations.

As for the website and the claim that we are attempting to disguise imported products as Canadian made, that is not our intention. We identify Teakora as Canadian owned and operated because that is what the company is. We do not claim that the teak itself is grown or that the utensils are manufactured in Canada.

We appreciate that customers want transparency about where products come from, and we take that concern seriously. We’ll continue working to make our sourcing and manufacturing information as clear as possible. We are also open to answering any questions anyone has about how we source and produce our products.

Best,
Teakora Customer Experience Team

The product is beautiful and very functional.

The product is as advertised. Great quality, beautiful wood grain, just the right utensils in the package of 9.
Was delivered on day I was expecting them. Price is appropriate for the quality of the utensils. On top of all the above they are very easy to use, not heavy and not cumbersome. Just simply fantastic!!

This company is a complete SCAM

This company is a complete SCAM. Do not fall for it. Says they're Canadian but products ship from China. Bait and switch used: what you order is totally different from what you get (cheap garbage unfinished moldy wood pieces). They try to force you to pay for return shipping, play games and refuse to refund your money. AND they'll automatically use your credit card to enroll in an ongoing subscription from your one-time purchase WITHOUT YOUR CONSENT or any notification to you. STAY FAR AWAY from this fraudulent company.

Antwort von Teakora

Hi,

We’re sorry to see this review, but we’d like to clarify a few important points for anyone reading it.

Teakora is a Canadian owned company, and we are not Woodly or affiliated with Woodly in any way. We’ve unfortunately seen confusion between our company and Woodly, but they are completely separate businesses.

Our products are not made in China. Our teakwood products are crafted in Thailand, where teak is naturally grown and where we work with an ethical, family owned business. Teak does not naturally grow in Canada, which is why our products are sourced and crafted in Thailand. Our teakwood is FSC certified, and we prioritize responsible and ethical practices throughout production.

Regarding product concerns, if a customer receives an item that is damaged or defective, we are absolutely happy to look into a replacement. We simply ask that customers email our Customer Experience Team with clear photos of the damage so our product team can properly review the issue.

Finally, we do not have a subscription program, and we do not automatically enroll customers into any subscription after a purchase. We also do not have access to customers’ credit card information and cannot use their cards for unauthorized charges.

We’re always happy to address legitimate concerns directly and help our customers when something goes wrong. We encourage anyone with an issue to contact us so we can actually investigate their specific order rather than leaving the matter unresolved.
