You pay a lot and have to fight for service.

2nd UPDATE: Their latest reply proves how they set up their business model to deny claims. THERE ARE NO CODE VIOLATIONS with how our laundry machines are set up. In fact, this was a permitted job, and the city signed off on it. We also had it inspected by the gas company. The washer and dryer are in built-in cabinets, but they easily slide out and can be unstacked. The problem is that it takes two people. FAHW only contracts with repair people that send one person. They bury clauses like the below in loopholes in their contract, like the fraudulent business they are.

Also, they don't bother to ask what configuration your washer and dryer are in before they send someone out. So, I had to take time off work to meet with their contractor, who is in bed with them, as they both conspired to deny claims.

Charise spoke to me this morning and admitted that it was ridiculous for us to hire one appliance repair person to slide out the unit, then pay FAHW's contractor to repair it, and then pay our contractor to simply slide the units back in again. They seriously think it's okay to make a homeowner pay a contractor to slide out a stacked washer and dryer, and they take a week to tell you so.

UPDATE: They replied that they're working on my case below. However, they still have not contacted me since they sent the substandard contractor. Today, I tried to get an update on the phone, and they transferred me around. I left a message, but no one called back. I have also sent emails to the executive office. Every bit of communication from me has been ignored. Please don't fall for their fake reply. If you're a real estate agent or in a position to recommend this company, don't. I'm now evaluating my legal options.

ORIGINAL REVIEW:
We have had this warranty service for several years. I cringe whenever I need to use the service we pay for. Each experience has been negative and a struggle.

The latest was a simple washer repair. First American Home Warranty assigned Optimus Appliances. Typically, the companies FAHW assigns are pretty bad and have terrible reviews. I was pleasantly surprised but skeptical when I saw the high rating on Yelp for Optimus. But, my initial feelings were correct. The service from Optimus was terrible.

The tech came to work on our washer. We have a built-in, stacked washer and dryer. The minute the tech saw it, he said he couldn't work on it because it was stacked. NOTE: There is nothing in our contract that states this. There was never any mention of this when we requested the service. Optimus and FAHW should have told us we would need to hire another contractor to move the dryer—which is ridiculous. Indeed, this is something that appliance repair companies must run into. How could they not have the capability to access a stacked washer and dryer?

So now, we've been without our washer for over a week. Their tech did nothing, and we haven't heard anything from them.

We feel like we should call an appliance repair company and pay for it ourselves.

Lumens' mistake, your problem

Since November of 2022, I have purchased thousands of dollars worth of merchandise with this company.

Everything seemed fine until they missed a crucial ship date. They didn't notify me and when I asked for their help to expedite shipping and help pay for those costs, they refused.

I had to order the item from another vendor, pay more and pay for expedited shipping. Of course, I provide better service to my customers than Lumens does to me so I will eat those costs.

Steer clear of this company. They have a 1.5-star rating for a reason.

Great potential but terrible service.

How bad does a company have to be that even when dealing with the executive office, they don't follow through on their promises or call back when you leave messages?

At that point, they're pretty much saying they don't care about you as a customer.

After not hearing from the exec-office rep, Victoria, today, I was told by Michaell that he would call me back and provide the information that Victoria has failed to provide for over 30 days. He never did what he said he would.
They are supposed to install tomorrow and I still don't have a written estimate.

Since I acquired their system through the purchase of our home, the service for this company has been consistently terrible. Initially, it took over 90 days for them to make the first contact. After that, things improved a bit and the system worked okay for a while.

But when we had a problem with the thermostat, it took months to resolve. Finally, we lucked out and got a good tech. He figured out that when Vivint installed the system, they put the heat-generating control panel right next to the thermostat. That's why the heat never came on.

Fast forward to this year, I wanted to upgrade my system. While working on the quote, we had a tech problem. Calling their support made the problem worse. It got to the point where we couldn't secure our home before we left for a flight.

When I told them I was going to go with another company, someone from their executive relations contacted me. I thought things would go smoothly from there. But apparently, their service is so bad, that even the exec resolution team is inundated and can't return calls or emails correctly or promptly.

The exec team rep made an offer of resolution that I initially wanted to accept. But trying to finalize it with her has once again proved that I'm not dealing with a professional company that cares about customers. I sent her an email with three questions. She answered one. When I followed up to ask about the other two, she didn't reply. When I followed up with a phone message, again, she ghosted me. If this is the service that the office of the president provides, it's telling what you're dealing with.

How they can stay in business is beyond me. I have not seen a single positive review for them anywhere.

Beautiful doors, customer service, not so much.

They sell beautiful doors that are of great quality. They just have terrible customer service when it comes to delivering them.

From the beginning, the services were good. The sales rep was responsive and answered our questions. When we ordered the doors the estimate came through and paying was easy.

After they got our money the service went downhill. I had to follow up to find out when they would ship. When I did receive the shipping notification, it said I would receive them on a Friday between 2 and 5 pm. I'm on the west coast and the shipping company is on the east coast. When the order didn't arrive, I tried calling them, but no one answered. I called ETO and the rep told me this happens a lot. She apologized for the poor experience.

The next day, the original rep said it was on me because I was supposed to wait to get a call from them to schedule the delivery. She didn't address why I received a time window prior.

Also, I asked both the sales rep and the CSR for samples so I could choose a stain color without ruining the doors. They said they would overnight them and they didn't arrive the next day.

I called the next day when they didn't arrive and was told they would ship that day. Nope. They didn't and I didn't receive them. Now they are holding up our construction project by not sending the samples when they promised to.

I called and left 3 voicemails and sent an email. They didn't reply to any of those.

Once they get your money they don't care about you. I have a lot of future projects that I'm working on. ETO will not be part of those.

Verizon 5G doesn't deliver what they promise

Verizon's rep Sam tried to sell us their 5G services. He misrepresented the speeds the system was capable of. He said that increasing the number of boxes would increase the speed. Dereck from their QC department called us and said that their system can not get even close to the speeds we have with Cox Gigablast. When I let Sam know this, he again made false claims about the capabilities and told me I should try to set them up and see if it gets me those speeds. I don’t have time to waste doing that. He said if we weren’t happy he would pick them up so we could avoid the re-stocking fee that I objected to prior to signing the contract. When I took him up on that offer, he refused to pick them up. I called the main line and they said they would send a return kit with everything I needed so that UPS could pick them up. The kit arrived and didn't have everything that I needed. I called and spoke to a supervisor, Rick. He told me someone would come to get them today. They didn't show up. I called the extension he gave me and no one at Verizon could get hold of him. I spent 2 hours on the phone and spoke to 6 people Now they're saying if I don't return the boxes they will charge me hundreds of dollars. But they make it impossible to return them. If this isn't a scam, I don't know what is.

Good financial terms/lackluster service

I contacted them a few weeks ago. For the most part, I think they mean well. I get the impression that they're a new company and that they're very short-staffed.

The pros and cons:

Pros:
1) The initial application is very simple.
2) The website is nicely designed and easy to navigate.
3) They offer long payback terms for smaller loans which is hard to find in today's market.
4) They offer great interest rates if you have good credit.
5) The employees are very professional and friendly (but see cons below).

Cons:
1) Communication and responsiveness are lacking. This isn't the type of company that you can call if you have a question. You can leave voicemails and send emails but don't expect same-day responses. Sometimes it can take more than 2 days for a response.
2) From what I understand, RenoFi doesn't provide funding. They work with financial institutions who they sell your loan to. The one that they told us to apply with, had extremely poor reviews--an average of 1.5 stars. That credit union did not reply to a single negative review and some were very credible and very bad. For example, many of them said that credit union is very slow to post payments, and then they charge late fees. We asked if there was an alternate institution we could use, and in our case, there was.
3) Information was sometimes unreliable or missing. For example, before we switched institutions, they didn't tell us the new one had stricter requirements like needing a full estimate for the project. It took a couple of weeks to finalize that as we were trying to get bids. That's an unusual request for a personal loan such as ours. Per #1 above, there was a lot of time and back and forth to get answers on that.
4) It takes a long time to get funded. With us, it's been 3 weeks and we're still not there yet.

So, if you're the type of person that likes to get information quickly, either over the phone or via email, get correct, complete information upfront, and if you want a simple smooth process to close your loan, this may not be the company for you. If you're willing to be patient, can do your own research and wade through the issues above, the financial terms may make it worth your effort.

Tony, thank you for the thoughtful review. Much of your criticism was fair and we've worked incredibly hard to address each of these areas to improve the homeowner experience when using a RenoFi Loan to fund their renovation. I am happy to report over the past 6 months we've made significant improvements and should you ever have a need to finance a renovation again, I am confident you'll be delighted with the experience from start to finish. We hope your renovation turned out to be a major success!

Farmers Questionable Practices

Farmers increased our premium by $116 without notifying us or our mortgage servicer. After receiving a threat from them that they would cancel our policy, we called them to sort it out. The Farmers rep said they don't have a way to overnight a payment (which was incorrect). Our mortgage servicer mailed a payment. We called over 2 weeks later and they claimed that never received the check. We paid with our credit card. I called back 2 days later and they said they received the check and verified a double payment. They promised a refund that never came.

Yesterday, I spent over 2 hours on the phone. I was told that they applied the refund to a policy renewal that I never requested. I spent another hour on the phone trying to get the refund. Finally, they said they would send it in 2 business days. We'll see.

They think they're the customer not you

I was with another insurer for 3 years. They provided excellent service. The only issue I had was that they were more expensive.

A salesperson convinced me to switch to Metlife/Farmers. Big mistake. Signing up with them took HOURS. They sent me the wrong forms several times. They sent constant updates and requests for information I had sent them previously.

I spent so much time working to sign up with them, at my billable freelance hourly rate, I would have been better off staying where I was.

To make things worse, their inspector made a federal case out of some chipping stucco and peeling paint on our 60-year-old home. We're in the process of a remodel to address these issues but the threatening emails and exaggerated language (peeling paint can injure someone) is uncalled for.

The language in the letter is also confusing. In one place it says I have 30 days to repair the issues. In another, it says I have until 1 year from the new policy, in yet another section of the same letter it says "90 days before the policy renewal."

I spent over an hour and a half on the phone with CSRs that interrupt, don't listen, and not one person from the underwriting department would speak to me.

So here's news for you Farmers, when my policy is up for renewal, it will most likely be me that cancels you not the other way around.
