You pay a lot and have to fight for service.
2nd UPDATE: Their latest reply proves how they set up their business model to deny claims. THERE ARE NO CODE VIOLATIONS with how our laundry machines are set up. In fact, this was a permitted job, and the city signed off on it. We also had it inspected by the gas company. The washer and dryer are in built-in cabinets, but they easily slide out and can be unstacked. The problem is that it takes two people. FAHW only contracts with repair people that send one person. They bury clauses like the below in loopholes in their contract, like the fraudulent business they are.
Also, they don't bother to ask what configuration your washer and dryer are in before they send someone out. So, I had to take time off work to meet with their contractor, who is in bed with them, as they both conspired to deny claims.
Charise spoke to me this morning and admitted that it was ridiculous for us to hire one appliance repair person to slide out the unit, then pay FAHW's contractor to repair it, and then pay our contractor to simply slide the units back in again. They seriously think it's okay to make a homeowner pay a contractor to slide out a stacked washer and dryer, and they take a week to tell you so.
UPDATE: They replied that they're working on my case below. However, they still have not contacted me since they sent the substandard contractor. Today, I tried to get an update on the phone, and they transferred me around. I left a message, but no one called back. I have also sent emails to the executive office. Every bit of communication from me has been ignored. Please don't fall for their fake reply. If you're a real estate agent or in a position to recommend this company, don't. I'm now evaluating my legal options.
ORIGINAL REVIEW:
We have had this warranty service for several years. I cringe whenever I need to use the service we pay for. Each experience has been negative and a struggle.
The latest was a simple washer repair. First American Home Warranty assigned Optimus Appliances. Typically, the companies FAHW assigns are pretty bad and have terrible reviews. I was pleasantly surprised but skeptical when I saw the high rating on Yelp for Optimus. But, my initial feelings were correct. The service from Optimus was terrible.
The tech came to work on our washer. We have a built-in, stacked washer and dryer. The minute the tech saw it, he said he couldn't work on it because it was stacked. NOTE: There is nothing in our contract that states this. There was never any mention of this when we requested the service. Optimus and FAHW should have told us we would need to hire another contractor to move the dryer—which is ridiculous. Indeed, this is something that appliance repair companies must run into. How could they not have the capability to access a stacked washer and dryer?
So now, we've been without our washer for over a week. Their tech did nothing, and we haven't heard anything from them.
We feel like we should call an appliance repair company and pay for it ourselves.
