Worst experience from technicians to managers
I would strongly advise anyone to think twice before buying a car from Big Motoring World based on my experience.
What should have been a simple collection turned into almost two months of frustration, misinformation, and broken promises.
On the day I was due to collect my car, after my finance had been approved, paperwork signed, my private plate removed, insurance arranged and road tax sorted, I was told at the last minute that the car had a fault with its fast charging system and could not be handed over. From that point onwards, it was one excuse after another.
Over the following weeks I was repeatedly told:
• The car was being diagnosed.
• It was waiting for a technician.
• It had been sent to Snodland.
• It was going to Peterborough.
• It was waiting for transport.
• It had been repaired.
• It was almost finished.
• The wrong part had been ordered.
• The correct part had been ordered.
• They had no update.
Almost every phone call resulted in a different story depending on who answered the phone. I constantly had to chase for updates because nobody contacted me as promised. Managers were always "too busy" to speak to me, and when they eventually called back they often knew less about my case than I did.
To make matters worse, I visited the dealership several times in person because I simply could not get a straight answer. I repeatedly had to explain the entire situation to different members of staff. Promises to call me back were regularly broken.
This situation caused major disruption to both my work and my personal life. I had holidays booked and instead of enjoying them I spent my time chasing emails, looking for internet access overseas and trying to find out what was happening with a car I had already bought.
Eventually I was told the original vehicle had developed further issues and was unlikely to be repaired. I was offered another car—but only if I paid £2,240 more. After waiting nearly two months, I had little choice but to accept because I desperately needed a vehicle.
Even collecting the replacement car was another nightmare. I was first told to collect it, travelled nearly 80 miles, then received a phone call telling me to turn around because it wasn't ready. The following day I travelled over two hours by public transport, only to discover I couldn't pay the balance by credit card because nobody had informed me beforehand. I had to ask a friend to transfer money into my bank account while sitting in the dealership. I was also only given one key and was asked to sign paperwork acknowledging this without it being properly explained.
Although they reimbursed some of my out-of-pocket expenses, they ignored the countless hours wasted, the stress, the inconvenience, the disruption to my holidays, and the complete lack of communication.
The final insult came when I visited the original branch after collecting my replacement car and found my original vehicle sitting on their forecourt for sale, despite being repeatedly told it was still elsewhere undergoing repairs. When I questioned this, the manager claimed he had no idea it was even there.
This entire experience exposed serious problems with communication, organisation and customer service throughout the company. I lost confidence in everything I was told because the information constantly changed depending on who I spoke to.
Buying a car should be an exciting experience. Instead, Big Motoring World turned it into one of the most stressful customer experiences I have ever had.
I would never recommend them based on my experience.
Spent time at the Enfield branch
Spent time at the Enfield branch, test drove the car I'd reserved online, car was littered with dashboard warnings - tyres, brakes. Was advised by the salesperson that these would be rectified before I drove away. Completed the paperwork, couple of hours later drove away, it wasn't until I refuelled that I noticed the warning lights were still present. Called the branch the next day, was told to bring it back - not practical as it's a 5 hour round trip, used their app to book a local repairer, they spent a hour or so diagnosing the faults, but were not able to rectify as they said it needs to be looked at by a Mercedes-Benz repairer. Attempted to book in with my local MB but was told that Big Motoring World cap the labour rate they would pay and any difference would need to covered by me!! Fast forward two weeks now, several attempts to have Big Motoring World sort this out, they throw obstacles at you left, right and centre - use the ticketing system, can't speak to a manager, it's in the system.... terrible customer service.
Very impressed with Motoring World!
The buying process at MW was so smooth and organised. Umut was very professional but also friendly and made us feel comfortable. We also received great handover from collections but don’t recall the name of who helped us! Great set up with very good staff. Thankyou!
The cars they sell here are trash
The cars they sell here are trash
The cars they sell here are trash. They clear the fault codes and send out the vehicles. When a problem occurs and vehicle has to go back to prep centre, they like put the blame on someone even though it’s their fault.Mechanics miss things such as fitting tyres or doing their job correctly and the people in final QC get the blame for it. Management are terrible. Don’t engage with people who work here as they like to act superior. You’d get a scrawny or overweight person talking to people like they own them, but I think they need to watch how they’re first haha. Head of HR Gemma Senior is very rude and likes to talk down to people. Big motoring world prep centre management have taken investors money and promised them a certain number of cars every week. 1000 cars a week but they don’t have cars for 5 hours of the shift. When it comes to 1-2hours left of your shift they complain that the team is working slow😂😂😂.worst place to work. Save your mental health by avoiding working and buying from this place!

Promises made at the point of sale meant nothing
My experience with Big Motoring World has been incredibly disappointing.
When I collected my car, both the salesperson and I identified faults with the vehicle, including issues with the windows and the rear seats not reclining. I was assured these would be resolved quickly, and those assurances were a key reason I went ahead with the purchase.
Unfortunately, the after-sales service has been appalling.
I was booked into a garage by Big Motoring World, only to arrive and be told they had no booking for the window or seat issues. I had taken time off work for the appointment and ended up wasting an entire day because of their mistake.
I was then referred to a Mercedes specialist, who inspected the car, diagnosed the faults, and confirmed what repairs were required. They submitted everything back to Big Motoring World, yet I’m still waiting for any meaningful update or resolution.
To make matters worse, I’ve now been asked to provide evidence to support my “claim,” despite these faults being identified before I even left the dealership and being documented in email conversations with their own staff. This isn’t a new claim—it’s an unresolved issue that existed from day one.
The whole process has been full of delays, poor communication, broken promises, and a complete lack of accountability. Instead of resolving issues they acknowledged at the point of sale, I’ve been left chasing for updates and wasting my own time.
I expected far better from a company of this size. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Big Motoring World to anyone looking for reliable after-sales support.

BIG MOTORING SCAM
From start to finish the experience with big motoring world was horrific. I have never dealt with a company so poor in my life. It all started in the sales process at the Cannock branch. Firstly, we waited over an hour to be seen to, and the sales rep I then dealt with left with no explanation after test driving the car. We then waited another half hour before being seen to by another rep. After discussing finance options for 2 hours we then agreed i would return on the following Tuesday to collect the car and sign the final documents, I was told this would take around an hour.
On that Tuesday, I arrived at 4:30pm, and didn't leave until 9:45pm. I kept being told 'you will be called in to collect your keys soon, your car is just round the back being valeted'. I wasn't called in to collect my keys until 9:30pm, where I was then told 'Sorry your car hasnt been valeted, is that okay?' No thats not okay, youve just lied for 2 hours and now I have to leave with an unvaleted car. They said I could return the following day for it to be valeted but this was not an option as I work and live 1 hour away. I complained about this via email which after about a month of going back and fourth, resulted in them offering me £25 to get it valeted locally. Whats this going to cover? 1 wheel?
After I left the car park with my new car, my tyre pressure warning light came on instantly. I couldnt go back as they closed as I left. This does not fill me with much confidence after buying a new car and being told its been through a 200 check inspection.
Around 3 days later, I put my rear left window down, and to my surprise it would not go back up.I had to call out the RAC to wedge the window back up. They shockingly advised me that the entire electrical module in the rear left door had completely gone. This meant my door did not lock or window did not work.
I opened a claim to get this repaired with 'the big garage warranty' that I purchased along side the car. It took 2 months of going back and forth with several different agents to allocate me a garage to fix the car in. This entire time my left door was permenantly unlocked, putting my vehicle at risk daily. During this process, i would be ignored for weeks and constantly having to chase up the claim.
After finally taking the car to the advised garage (which was an hour away) they informed me that copper wire had been wrapped around the module to stop any warnings flagging on the car. THIS IS ABSOLOUTELY DISGUSTING. This has clearly been a cowboy job, and a quick sell for big motoring world.
On top of this, I was advised that Big Motoring World would pay the garage directly for the repair as part of the warranty, but when i went to collect my vehicle, the garage told me that they are ignoring them and that i couldn't take my vehicle unless i pay and invoice big motoring world myself. This left me out of pocket hundreds of pounds until i was able to claim it back.
I'm paying £50 a month for 3 years for a warranty that is absoutely useless. I am still in shock that it took over 2 months to fix a simple repair that I reported within 3 days of owning the car. I have been completely missold the car and warranty, and the company has not done anything to compensate this issue.
DO NOT BUY FROM BIG MOTORING WORLD.

Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Called to arrange an appointment yesterday evening for today. Told them that I am travelling almost 2 hours after work to come and view the car, if it sells can they please let me know.
They sent me a confirmation text for my appointment at 6pm. Then this morning sent me a confirmation email for my appointment outlining what I must bring with me.
I turned up after work and was asked to take a seat by their computer. A few moments later a man comes to assist and asks why I am there.. They did not even bother checking what car I arranged to see.
When I told him they told me it was sold today. Of course I was extremely frustrated having made a 2 hour trip that cost me around £75 on trains and taxis. They didn’t seem bothered about that and asked what else I want to look at.
The man could not understand my frustration as cars always sell? I understand cars can be sold but I specifically asked to be notified as I will be travelling far which will cost me a lot of money.
I would seriously avoid, its a massive place with hundreds of desks, main motive is making money and not servicing clients. I hear some terrible things about their after purchase service as well so maybe dodged a bullet…

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5-Star Review
We recently purchased a 2022 Kia e-Niro from the Camberley branch of Big Motoring World, and the experience was excellent. In addition, our friend has already purchased around seven cars from them over the years.
Every experience has been professional, friendly, and hassle-free. The staff were helpful throughout the entire process, making everything smooth and straightforward.
We have complete confidence in Big Motoring World as a trusted supplier, which is why many drivers also choose to buy their cars from them.
From us, it's a well-deserved 5-star rating. We highly recommend Big Motoring World to anyone looking for a reliable used car and excellent customer service.

Poor Customer Service
reserved a car last week , paid to have it transferred to the Leeds branch , on arrival to view was astounded that it had not even been cleaned since it was bought in, a strong smell of dog. I can see through some things and was persuaded that if I purchase it will be fully valeted with a 200 point inspection , what a joke!
Test drive revealed a TPMS issue , this was dismissed as needing to be reset . Low and behold its a nail in the tyre and a big chunk out of the same tyre . Refused any responsibility as it is wear and tear . . . less than 24 hours . STAY AWAY this is not a pleasant buying experience , Available Car which used to be on this site were a pleasure to deal with, this bunch of clowns are a poor representation of car dealerships .

Would give 0 stars if I could!
Would give 0 stars if I could!! Bought a car 05/03/2026 reported faults within the first couple of weeks (hesitation on acceleration, black smoke and an engine rattle) took weeks for them to sort out a diagnostic after many phone calls and emails which are always ignored. The diagnostic said it needed a new EGR valve. Which we then had to wait for BMW to authorise to have done which was another couple of weeks. The day after the repair we noticed the car was still the same and the repair hadn’t made any difference so again contacted BMW and my finance company as we wanted to reject the vehicle. BMW ignored emails and when I phoned my case worker was never available no matter what time I rung there was always an excuse as to why he couldn’t speak to me (he never once spoke to me in the months this nightmare went on). My finance company stayed in contact with me explaining they were trying to get answers from BMW. Eventually BMW told me to contact the RAC through my warranty (that they make impossible not to purchase due to the price they give for a part exchange which is considerably lower if you don’t take out the warranty) and get them to do a diagnostic to prove the faults are still there, at this point the engine management light was on and fault codes showing mass air flow sensor. RAC came and did a report stating that the faults were there and that I wasn’t to drive the vehicle anymore. I sent this report to BMW who then failed to respond for around 5 days to then tell me that report wasn’t detailed enough and I needed to get my car recovered to and from a garage to get another diagnostic done at my expense which I said no. My finance company sent someone to come and do a diagnostic at my address (weeks had gone by at this point) the report came back stating that the EGR valve had never been replaced and that the car had been sold to me with faults and it was unfit for sale (bearing in mind it should of had a 200 point check before me taking the vehicle). Even with this report BMW stalled the rejection process and just ignored emails and again nobody was ever available to speak with me from the rejection team. I eventually demanded a response and threatened legal action. BMW then said it was my finance company that was responsible for collecting the vehicle. After going back and forth BMW eventually got my car recovered from my address. My finance company refunded me all the monthly payments I had made up to this point (4) after 4 days of collection of the vehicle. but said it was BMW responsibility to refund my deposit within 14 days. BMW tried to stall again with payment by saying they had to wait for an ROA from my finance company and that they weren’t responding so I contacted the finance company myself who said that an ROA was nothing to do with me and should not be holding up a refund and that they had been in contact with BMW that morning. I have finally after 4 months of this and 3 months of the vehicle been sat in my driveway unused I received my deposit back but minus the fee that was paid directly to BMW as apparently an admin fee. I am still trying to get this back! I have contacted the ombudsman as I was left completely without any transport for months, never offered a courtesy car and have had nothing but stress and inconvenience for months as well as been out of pocket. No compensation nothing from BMW. By far the worst company I have ever known. Please avoid them at all costs as the cars are faulty, the staff are rude and literally the worst customer service ever!!

Incompetent, Careless, and Unresponsive
Purchased: 30/06/26
We purchased a Kia Ceed from Big Motoring World in Wimbledon and it was hands down the worst car-buying experience we've ever had.
They rushed us for their bonus: That day, they pressured us to buy the car immediately because it was the end of the month — clearly chasing a sales target or bonus. We agreed to go ahead as a personal favor to the salesperson, rushing our own decision to help them out.
The lie during the sale: When we were purchasing the car, we kept saying that my partner needed to be the owner and the register keeper. They kept asking me to sign documents instead. When I questioned this, they told me not to worry — that it was only because they had engaged with me first, and that she would still be the owner. They lied to our faces to get me to sign. This was not an honest mistake. They deliberately misled us.
The mistake: During the sale, we clearly stated that my partner needed to be the owner and the registered keeper and that she was paying for the car herself. They still put my name on the invoice. A basic check would have prevented this.
The delay: We didn't even receive the invoice until three days after purchase — by which time we were already out of the country. So instead of enjoying our trip, we're stuck dealing with their error from abroad.
The consequences: This isn't just a paperwork annoyance. The mismatch between who paid and whose name is on the invoice creates a potential money laundering red flag, serious compliance issues, and problems with our self-assessment tax returns. I explained all of this to them in detail.
The customer service — absolutely disgraceful: I just called their customer service to resolve this. The representative kept repeating that they cannot amend the invoice because the car had already been sold, completely ignoring everything I said. I explained the tax complications, the financial compliance risks — she didn't care. She just repeated the same line over and over until she hung up on me.
Hanging up on a customer who is trying to fix your mistake? That is completely unacceptable.
A warning to future buyers: Their carelessness doesn't stop at the sale. Once they have your money, you are on your own. We are now considering escalation to Trading Standards and the DVLA to resolve this.
Bottom line: If you value correct paperwork, timely communication, and a dealership that treats its customers with even a shred of respect, go elsewhere. These people don't deserve your business.

Absolutely useless, been off the road for over 3 months been 2x garages. My car was authorised to go to Volkswagen on the 15th June and today I find out they won’t deal with because they won’t offer them a good will gesture. Now I have to wait for them to take the car to another garage so they can fix the part they want to buy off eBay. Class service
Avoid Big Motoring World
Avoid Big Motoring World. Complete con artists!
Shortly after buying my Kia, we noticed an intermittent fault that left it unreliable as the 12v battery would run flat overnight. The car was attended by the RAC multiple times, and it was looked at by two separate garages, including a Kia main dealer. Despite all of these attempts, nobody was able to identify the exact cause of the fault because it an intermittent battery drain.
When I asked for a refund, I was told that one would not be considered unless the fault could be identified. That left me in an impossible position: the vehicle was repeatedly experiencing problems, but because no one could pinpoint the exact cause, I was left without a resolution.
In the end, I lost confidence in the car completely and had no choice but to sell it at a substantial financial loss just to move on. I expected much better customer service and support. I feel completely conned as I was sold a car with an intermittent issue which would have been there previous to purchase, and even within their warranty period they found a way out of paying.
I wish I read the reviews before going to them, very similar issues reported to BBC Watchdog also!
To your reply:
you were given several chances to fix the vehicle, over several months, and your final response was that we would have to take you to court.
Although confident we would win this, as everything you were saying was not legally correct, such as not being able to pay out until a fault was found, we did not want the case to drag for many more months on end with another financial cost.
You knew our hand was forced to sell the vehicle at a huge loss, all of this will be forwarded to bbc watchdog and hopefully they will investigate you (again)
Disgraceful company who show no care or remorse once the sale is complete

Proceed with caution and inspect…
Proceed with caution and inspect everything carefully before collection
We found a car that appeared suitable as our son’s first vehicle. During our initial inspection, I pointed out that one tyre had a piece of rubber missing and asked whether it was safe. I also highlighted several scratches on the rear of the car. I was told that the scratches would be polished as part of the handover preparation.
After paying the deposit, I returned three days later to collect the vehicle. The handover representative checked the records and told me that two tyres had been replaced. When I inspected the car, I found that it had a mixture of Nexen (South Korean) and Bridgestone (the A3 comes with this) tyres. I appreciate that fitting different tyre brands is not necessarily unlawful, provided the tyres meet the relevant requirements, but the arrangement caused me concern because the vehicle was intended for a new 17-year-old driver. The handover person also informed me that one tyre had small cracks and needed monitoring.
The scratches I had previously raised also remained visible.
I asked whether anything further could be done regarding the tyres, but I felt that my concerns were dismissed and that the position presented to me was essentially to accept the vehicle as it was or not proceed. I decided not to complete the purchase and requested the return of my deposit - I am told 3-5 days. I will report back whether that is indeed the case.
This review reflects my own experience. My advice to other buyers is to inspect the vehicle carefully at both the viewing and collection stages, confirm any promised work in writing, and consider arranging an independent inspection before completing the purchase.
Ideally I would recommend to chose a different car dealer.
Very poor aftersales support after buying used car
I purchased a used car from Big Motoring World around two and a half weeks ago. Unfortunately, the aftersales experience so far has been very disappointing.
The car was delivered with approximately 2.5 litres of excess oil in the engine, which triggered an excessive oil level warning shortly after collection. To get this resolved through Big Motoring World, the only option offered was to use their warranty/insurance process and an in-network garage, with the closest suitable garage being on the other side of town.
The car has since been inspected by Mercedes-Benz Nottingham, who identified further issues, including a welded front alloy wheel which they advised should be replaced, and play in both front suspension spring link ball joints. The car is still with Mercedes-Benz Nottingham and I am currently without use of it while waiting for Big Motoring World to properly respond and confirm how they intend to resolve the situation.
My impression so far is that Big Motoring World pushes everything through the warranty/insurance policy route, rather than properly engaging with Consumer Rights Act issues. That matters because warranty policies have exclusions and capped labour rates, whereas the selling dealer still has legal responsibilities for the condition of the vehicle at sale.
Communication has also been very slow. Email replies take days, and when calling aftersales, I have mainly been directed back to the warranty/insurance company rather than getting ownership of the problem from Big Motoring World.
I understand used cars can have issues, but the real test of a dealer is how they handle problems after the sale. So far, the process has been slow, reactive and lacking clear ownership.
I will update this review depending on how they resolve the matter, but based on my experience so far, the aftersales support has not met my expectations.
