BEWARE: Worthless insurance & misleading coverage dates (XCover / Casamundo)
Please be extremely careful when booking travel through platforms like Casamundo that offer XCover "Booking Refund Protection" via a simple checkout checkbox.
Earlier this year, I booked a trip for September. Due to a major, unexpected medical emergency (open-heart surgery), I had to cancel. When I claimed my cancellation fees under the insurance I paid for, XCover rejected it with a shocking technicality: they stated that my policy "period of coverage" had automatically expired months prior to my travel dates, simply because the policy was seemingly tied to the booking date logic rather than the actual trip dates.
They collected insurance premiums for a trip in September, only to issue a policy that supposedly expired long before departure. In my view, this is a misleading "phantom" insurance designed to take your money while offering zero actual protection for future-dated trips.
Save your money and skip this add-on. If you are unfortunate enough to face a serious medical crisis, do not expect any support from their insurance.
