Review of Whirlpool (NL)

Be careful of the ‘10Y guarantee’. It comes with a price

We bought the Whirlpool washing machine and drying machine in Aug 2022. On both machines there’s a sticker with giant letters ‘10 Years Guarantee’ but it’s apparently just a wisecrack- they don’t really mean it.
The washing machine is now leaking (after less than 4 years) and I called them. I was told basically I don’t have any guarantee because I didn’t register the machine within 60 days after purchase. Now the repair visit is 219e for personnel guaranteed for 3 months and afterwards I’m on myself again. The machine cost a bit more than 500e. And the for-once repair will cost 220e.

Summary: Whirlpool really knows how to make business. The ‘60D register’ is clearly a setup cos they know nobody would know, thus do it, and they not only get away with the 10Y guarantee, but also are able to charge you more indefinitely. The ‘10Y guarantee’ in big letters basically tells you that there’s no such thing as free lunch.
