Dreadful support that leaves no option but refund
Bought a 2nd hand Secacam 5 from WEX but Zeiss won't register it to me (even though I have registration card, receipt, serial no, etc) for 'data protection reasons' as the original owner registered it. So after a long drive to pick up the camera I now have to drive all the way back to return it. And it took their support site days to be bothered to get back to me to tell me this. Last Zeiss product I will ever buy.
Zeiss binoculars eye cups
The eyecups on our binoculars are made of rubber and are attached to the neck strap. After around three years of use, the rubber became fragile and snapped on one side, with the other side breaking a few months later. Initially, we decided to live with the problem and not pursue a repair. We even considered replacing the binoculars with a different brand, as replacement eyecups did not appear to be available online.
Before making a final decision, I contacted customer services to see if anything could be done. I was pleasantly surprised by their response. They quickly arranged for two sets of replacement eyecups—one for my binoculars and one for my wife's—to be sent free of charge. Many thanks to the customer service team for their excellent support. Thanks to their help, we can continue enjoying our binoculars for many years to come.
They don’t tell you that Zeiss won’t…
They don’t tell you that Zeiss won’t repair the Loops if they have a problem. They used to give you a credit so you could get them swapped out they no longer do that. Why would you pay so much for a set of loops that if you drop them in the prisms moved, you can’t look through them anymore without seeing double vision they don’t even sell parts for somebody else to repair them. For that reason, I would never use Zeiss Loupes.!!!
Ziess has a manufacturing problem?
Some weeks ago I bought new glasses with thinned varifocal Zeiss lenses based on a fresh prescription. On receipt and first try on with the optician I found the lenses unacceptable. Mid to distance vision was blurred across the top half of the lens while the lower half of the lenses seemed to be made for close up reading. Entirely unwearable and I rejected them. The optician sent the glasses back to be remade to a prescription from a repeat eye test. The reworked glasses were much better for mid to distance but reading ability was confined to the lower quarter of the lenses and strained the eyes. I accepted the glasses through necessity and ordered some single vision reading glasses based on the newest prescription. When these arrived there was, again, a problem with the lenses. I could only read through the top third of the lenses. The rest was blurry. How can this be for single vision lenses? The optician measured the magnification strength across the lenses, top to bottom and found the measurement varied from 1.75 at the top to .75 at the bottom. I rejected the glasses which were sent for reglazing and I await the reworked ones. I have no faith in Zeiss lenses now and will specify alternative manufacturers in any future requirements. Zeiss appear to me to have a manufacturing problem. I have been a varifocal wearer for 25 years or more and have never experienced such poor lenses in the past.
We bought 6 month back and couldn't…
We bought 6 month back and couldn't find any difference, after one month again we have change in power both the eyes, but not ready to accept that.while buying they said 0.5 to above within 6 mth replacement warranty, but when changes happen they said above 0.75 only replacement.so sad

Massive branded etching without permission.
Ordered a £200 new pair of lenses and they graffiti it with two very noticiable large stamps on ziess on the lenses completely without your permission. Its absolutely unacceptable. I dont want to buy two lenses with massive branded stamps on them. No notification nothing just send you the lenses with these stamps. Avoid at all costs.
My €850 Zeiss lens failed after 3.5 years of use and they asked €400 for repair
I am extremely disappointed with this €850 Zeiss lens. It failed after only 3.5 years of light, careful use in a studio environment. Despite never being dropped, the internal failure was quoted at €400 for repair in Germany. To make matters worse, I was charged €80 just to have the lens inspected and shipped back to me unrepaired.
A premium brand should offer more than 3 years of life. The lack of local service and the high cost of "inspection fees" makes owning this lens a massive financial risk. I will not be buying Zeiss again.
Terrible marketing practices.
Targeting me for looking for lenses with non-stop ads all over the place. How about 1 star?
Take forever to pay the cashback amount
I bought binoculars they work well but Zeiss have taken over 2 months and still haven't paid me the cashback amount. Seems they can't be trusted.
Chaos from the Top Down
My recent experience with Zeiss lenses and their customer service has been profoundly frustrating and insulting. I ordered a Pistachio tint directly from their colour book which was shown to me in person, only to receive lenses that did not match their own sample. They claimed this was too difficult, yet they have the same in their own showroom and proudly displayed in all of their colour books online and in house. The sets I was given weren’t just a little different, they were wildly different from the sample… Two sets of lenses were wildly different… The second set look like something from a cheap pair of children’s sunglasses.
What followed was over two months of communication failures: emails went unanswered, promises of updates or refunds never materialised, all dismissed as "miscommunication" but feeling like deliberate obfuscation.
When the issue finally reached upper management, who I had to contact in a last ditch effort to try and get some communication, it started well with an investigation. They initially had good feedback and I was offered another set of lenses which they specified couldn’t be a tint, so I asked about PhotoFusion X – for which I explicitly offered to pay the difference if it was more than expected – this triggered an alarming response. Upper management cited "concern" over my request, implying it would force a review of their "friends & family" offer I’d used to purchase the lenses. This felt like an unwarranted assignment of blame for their internal production failures and communications breakdown.
Right now, I’m not even getting responses to valid questions about what led to their childish blame pushing. These are Director and Manager level staff, so it seems the issues are stemming from the top down. They don’t seem to be the professional company they portray themselves to be. They even wen’t so far as to state that this sort of order is not ‘profitable’ for them, like I should be on my knees begging for more insults and lacklustre communications.
From a customer's perspective, clearer communication regarding product capabilities (especially for "standard" vs. "custom" tints) and consistent follow-through on promised updates are essential. A more transparent and less punitive approach to customer inquiries, even those involving higher-end products or "friends & family" schemes, would also greatly enhance the customer experience and prevent perceived blame-shifting.
For years, I have been a devoted user of Zeiss products, extensively utilizing their photographic lenses in my professional work and holding the brand in immensely high regard for its quality and innovation. This recent experience, however, has profoundly shattered that long-standing respect and trust. It's truly disheartening to see a brand I admired so deeply handle a customer issue in such a frustrating and ultimately, disrespectful manner. Especially when the whole issue has been internal failures.
Poor product quality, No customer service
I bought a pair of Zeiss sunglasses. The screw lost and leg dropped after 2 month light use. The retailer and Zeiss company have no warranty for their product. I tried to contact Zeiss and got no response. Don't be fooled, it is NOT that old German company anymore.
Zeiss binoculars real life time waranty
Contacted zeiss in search of eyecups for a 1970ties binoculars. They emailed me back the next day and send me 2 new eyecups, for free. Now that's great customer service!
It is an honour to use there optical wonders of engineering. I have a number of their historical products. Camera lenses (hasselblad and rolleiflex) and a great pair of binoculars now.
Zeiss Photofusion X grey do not get dark enough
Just purchased new varifocal lenses with Photofusion x in grey. Vision is fine but very disappointed with the transition of the lenses. They don’t get very dark and are not as dark as my old pair of Zeiss lenses with Transitions from about 5 years ago or my last pair of Essilor that had the extra coating and could be used for driving, about 3 years old. The tint is so pale that I asked my optician to send them back to Zeiss for checking. They just sent them back saying they are performing as expected. Well they are not performing as well as I expected. Do not believe all the marketing hype about Zeiss Photofusion X.
Zeiss lenses in Dubai is a scam
Zeiss lenses in Dubai is a scam, they made so many mistakes in my order , wrong IPD and wrong axis ..I couldn't see with them..they argued and didn't want to correct their mistakes..Later on I wanted to try them again , I thought may be they improved..They refused to make the new lenses for me as a retaliatory measure !!! I have never seen such bad unprofessional service..no wonder more than 65% of their reviews are 1 star only.. Zeiss in Germany should seriously look at this matter , they re tarnishing their name in Dubai

Great quality at a price (if you can wait a lifetime).
Two months and counting waiting for Zeiss to cut and glaze my lenses correctly. My prescription will probably be out of date by the time they get it right. What happened to this once great brand?
I love my ZEISS spectacle lenses
I love my ZEISS spectacle lenses. It is comfortable on my eyes and looks great too - no bad reflections.
