Do not use this company. Half the staff are utterly rude, unhelpful and don't speak English and tell you none of their colleagues do which is a lie. They also gave me the wrong advice which cost me nearly 2,000 euro. Absolutely avoid!

Avoid this insurance like a plague. I repeat- avoid them and get your lawyer ready for any eventualities, as they are predators and fraud.
Here is the story:
I was insured freiwillig with them and because of my low income I was given a reduced amount, which is required by law. Then, mistakenly and gullibly I informed them that I was going to another country and will need to cancel my insurance. And stupid of me, I submitted my address and contract letter to show them evidence. I was trying to abide by the rules and do things by the book. They accepted the cancellation and confirmed I do not owe any thing and the account will be canceled. Then 2 days later a lady came back to say I owe them difference of what I need to pay if my income is in certain level. I replied the email and sent them evidence of the contract I signed stating the amount I was to pay and all my account payment. For the next 4 years, these fraud of an organization sent me letters to me and my old address adding charges to what they claim I owe. I continue to ignore; and then they went ahead to the social welfare department to request they remove whenever I retire from the amount. I mean, who does this fraudulent practice? I will eventually sue you guys when the time is right.
Folks, avoid them- Germany is full of their likes. Fraud and predators.

No service supported on web! So you have to download their APP which isn't reliable at all! also they don't answer your E-mail! you will have to call them for every single problems and services they don't provide (although they say they do but never can be found on the APP).

In the year 2021 I had switched over to this insurance as a voluntary insured individual. It took the stuff around three months to do the paperwork, leading to my son's hospital bills unpaid in the meanwhile (causing a lot of added stress on top of already stressful situation). However, that was only the beginning.

Throughout the year 2021 ZERO service fees had been withdrawn from my account, despite two SEPA Direct Debit agreements that I had sent and repeated attempts to point this issue out to the stuff to cause any action on their part. I ended up receiving a 8K bill in the beginning of the next year, which essentially meant that all of that money had been booked in the next financial year, allowing me to deduct nothing in the year's 2021 tax declaration. My somewhat unusual tax residency situation makes it impossible to deduct these contributions in the next financial year either. Which basically means that I paid eight thousands EUR for hkk's incompetence.

My fair complaints to hkk have been met with a jolly "das ist wurst egal, ob wir ein Fehler gemacht haben". For those of you reading who doesn't speak German it is a way of telling one to f@(# off. Thank you hkk, likewise.
