Despo Hotel Gouves Crete
Firstly I arrived at Heraklion airport at 20.30. I then had to wait 2 hours for another flight to arrive before I got my transfer, arriving at the hotel around 23.00. It was quite a surprise that the air con would be 8 euros per day and safety deposit box 2 euros per day in addition to the mandatory tax of 5 euros per day. So 140 euros so approx £120. I knew that there would be a charge for air con if wanted but was surprised to have to pay a total of 210 euros on arrival. The room was pleasant and adequate. The standard of cleaning could be improved. I regularly cleaned my sink. The sink plug did not work so could not be filled to rinse things out. However I was found a bucket so I was a to do a small amount of washing. A small airer on the balcony would be helpful. It was good to have a fridge but was disappointed there was no kettle. The pool area was pleasant but there was a lack of sunshades and the ones they had were not very effective. The gardens were well maintained and beautiful. The food was adequate but repetitive and poor choices. The drinks were fine. All of the staff were lovely. It's a shame because with a bit of attention to detail and not a great deal of outlay this could be a real gem. I did enjoy my holiday as I met some lovely fellow GoSingles people. The excursions were very good and reasonable. The bus stop being close by was a bonus. Very good and reasonably priced bus service. Approximately a half hour walk to the lovely little Gouves town with some nice shops, restaurants and bars.

Dreadful company
Dreadful company, do not believe their advertising. Only 3 people on the holiday I booked, no hosting rep, not enough of us to do trips as need minimum of 6, hotel wrong side of a dual carriageway and so a long and dangerous trek to get into town, no entertainment at hotel at all, all inclusive food was very basic, and it all cost far more than if I’d booked with a normal holiday company. They didn’t deliver what they promised in their adverts with a rep hosting social nights, but won’t apologise or accept this, saying they delivered the flights hotel and transfers and that’s all they are contracted to deliver. Despicable rip off company with fraudulent advertising and no customer care, solo travellers should AVOID!

Do not fall for the cleverly worded…
Do not fall for the cleverly worded website promises of "solo friendly comfort", "safe and welcoming setting", "relaxed community vibe" - these are clearly designed to make a solo traveller believe they are going to be in good hands, booking with a company who understands how daunting solo travel can be.
Actual experience:
- The cost of the holiday is doubled with GoSingles with no extra services to justify that cost.
- I was informed at the last moment that I was the only female with 4 other males. GoSingles did not bother to contact me at all during the holiday to check if I was ok or felt isolated
- The hotel was remote and next to a dual carriageway. To get to the beach/supermarket/go for a walk, you had to climb over 2 sets of barriers and cross 4 lanes of traffic. This hotel has not been "carefully selected"
- No evening entertainment at the hotel / no information regarding entertainment from the rep. Make sure you can keep a conversation going with 4 other people for a week - otherwise spend your nights staring at a swimming pool you can't go in whilst listening to the barman's very quiet radio.
- 'All inclusive' is very misleading. The food was basically the same thing every day and could only be described as edible, snacks (one thing each day i.e. cheese and ham sandwich) only available at certain times - once they'd ran out then staff would shrug their shoulders at you. Drinks only included until 10pm
- The vast majority of the other guests in the hotel didn't speak English. My point here is that there wasn't really the option to get to know any of the other guests. I was lucky that I got on with my very small group. If I hadn't then I would have been completely isolated and bored. Again, this is not a 'carefully selected' hotel.
In summary, GoSingles are not a solo travel company. Their prices are hugely inflated and once you've paid then they simply do not care about your experience.
There are far better solo travel companies out there. Don't let this review put you off solo travel - just don't use this sham of a company.
PS: Note to GoSingles - I've been back from the above circus of a holiday for 2 days now with no communication from you enquiring about my experience. Further evidence you simply do not care. Please save yourself the trouble of writing the snotty response you've sent to other travellers. My only goal here is to stop other travellers from using your company and being put off solo travel. It's a great way to travel, just not with you.

We were particularly surprised by your comments regarding value. Many guests tell us that, when comparing what is included with other solo travel companies, they consider GoSingles to offer excellent value. Our holidays include ATOL-protected package holidays, guaranteed single occupancy accommodation without a single supplement, a dedicated overseas representative, organised social activities, pre-departure information, and a dedicated WhatsApp group which allows guests to get to know one another before travelling and stay connected throughout the holiday.
Regarding the group composition, we understand that being the only female in a small group was disappointing. Unfortunately, last-minute cancellations can occasionally affect group numbers and gender balance despite our best efforts, and these circumstances are sometimes beyond our control.
The hotel is not advertised as a singles-only property but as a hotel where GoSingles guests can enjoy their holiday alongside other international visitors. Whilst we appreciate that the location, entertainment and catering did not meet your expectations, these are areas where opinions naturally differ, and many of our guests have rated this hotel very positively.
We are sorry you felt unsupported during your stay. Our overseas representative was available throughout the holiday, and our UK team also remained available should any concerns have been raised. We always encourage guests to let us know of any issues while they are away so that, where possible, we have the opportunity to resolve them.

Disappointing
Disappointing. It could have been a lot better with improved communictation. I was at the Despo Hotel in Crete with four others. There were 4 males and 1 female. The sole female only found out she was going with 4 males the day before. Luckily, we got on brilliantly but we, especially the lady, felt deceived by the lack of communication from Go Singles. Two of the our group had done similar holidays with other companies and their experience was of the companies bending over backwards to help. We felt isolated and very much left to our own devices. It is advertised as 600 yards from the beach. This should say as the crow flies; I measured it as just short of a mile given we had to walk to an appropriate crossing point to navigate a busy main road. The hotel was particularly basic, same can be said about the food, although it has to be said that the staff were very friendly. Another thing to look out for was that we were charged £40 tax on arrival at the hotel despite it saying all taxes were included on the Go Singles website. As a footnote we found the same holiday on another (reputable) holiday website for just short of £600 rather than the £1100 I paid. It was supposed to be a well needed break for me after losing my wife in February. I came back disappointed and let down.

As your review refers to another guest, we would like to clarify that she was informed of the final group composition before departure and confirmed that she was happy to travel. We also discussed the situation directly with her before the holiday commenced.
The Despo Hotel is not advertised as an exclusive GoSingles property or a singles-only hotel. It has proved to be a popular choice with many of our guests, although we appreciate that opinions on the location, accommodation and catering will naturally vary.
With regard to the tourist tax, this is a government-imposed environmental levy introduced by the Greek authorities and is payable locally by all visitors unless specifically stated otherwise.
Regarding pricing, comparisons with accommodation-only or different package arrangements do not always reflect what is included in a GoSingles holiday. Our holidays include ATOL-protected package arrangements, guaranteed single occupancy accommodation without a single supplement, an overseas representative, pre-departure support, a dedicated WhatsApp group before departure to help guests get to know one another, and the opportunity to travel with like-minded solo travellers. Aegean Escape
Had a lovely time in Rhodes with a really good group. After 7 days I was off to Turkey as the trip was the Aegean Escape. The ferry trip from Rhodes to Turkey was really smooth and very easy to manage. A further 5 days with another amazing group had a fabulous time.

Excellent experience.
The boat was clean, modern and well equipped.
The staff were brilliant and worked so hard to keep us happy.
Other passengers seemed very nice and there were 14 different nationalities.
In my opinion, we stayed in Porto for too long, as we didn't sail until 36 hours after we boarded the boat.
The excursions were pretty expensive and definitely not value for money.
These were the only negatives and on the whole it was a great experience.
Special mention to Gabriel the entertainment guy, Sara in the dining room and Sonia the multilingual cruise director 😀

Could do a lot better
Very poor admin, unable to check in on line but advised to keep trying only to find that other travellers struggled too. Check in at the airport i was a solo traveler but I had been booked on by gosingles as if I was travelling as part of a couple this caused issues when I couldn’t produce my imaginary travel partner at check in. The gullet was well past its sell by date with very poor standard of upkeep, patched up would be a more accurate term. Food was very low standard and after day three very predictable. Drinks on board were of a very limited variety and expensive five pound for a can of lager twenty four pound for a bottle of wine ( 4.2 euros in the supermarket).
Cruising time in the week approx twenty hours, runs ashore in the week one. Onboard safety briefing none.
I did enjoy the holiday because of my fellow passengers who adopted the attitude of it’s a week so let’s make the best of it, and we did. crew, two young lads and the skipper were friendly and easy to get along with. This is a very brief description of a holiday that if it wasn’t for my fellow travellers could have been a total disaster
However for the cost it was a very poor gullet experience and with a bit more shopping around could be greatly improved on.

We are, however, disappointed that other aspects of the cruise did not meet your expectations.
Regarding online check-in, unfortunately this is managed entirely by the airline. On rare occasions, airlines are unable to complete online check-in for some passengers, and this can affect travellers across all tour operators. We appreciate this can be frustrating, but it is outside our control.
With regard to airport check-in, we have investigated the matter and found no booking error on our part. We are sorry if there was any confusion at the airport, but fortunately it was resolved and did not affect your travel.
We were also surprised by your comments regarding the Gulet itself. This vessel has received consistently positive feedback from the vast majority of our guests over many years. As with all traditional wooden Gulets, regular maintenance is carried out between seasons to preserve the vessel, while retaining its authentic character.
In relation to drinks on board, prices are set by the cruise operator, not GoSingles. As with most cruise holidays, drinks purchased onboard are naturally more expensive than those sold in local supermarkets, reflecting the costs of operating and supplying a vessel at sea.
We would also like to clarify that a safety briefing was provided by our representative during the welcome meeting before departure, and written safety information, including the location and use of life jackets, is displayed onboard for all guests.
Finally, regarding value for money, we appreciate that opinions differ. However, many of our guests regularly tell us that our GoSinges holidays offer excellent value when compared with similar solo cruise holidays.
Whilst we regret that the holiday did not fully meet your expectations, we appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback and will take your comments into consideration.

The location of Olympus Hotel in Turkey is excellent. However the premises itself has not been improved in the five years since I last visited. The rooms need a complete revamp with cupboard drawers and units peeling off. The televisions do not work and only show Turkish programmes when I guess the majority of guests are English. Apologies but disappointed.

I’ve given the middle star cos not sure…
I’ve given the middle star cos not sure yet if this is good or bad - but I suspect bad. I have paid over £800 deposit and flight money for the sea and sand to Turkey some of the money was for booking an upfront seat. Despite paying this money months ago it now appears they have not booked me on a flight or reserved an upfront seat. Surely this is taking money - if not illegally - at least not morally ?? They want another £1,500 at the end of June so a very expensive 2 weeks in Turkey !! I wonder how trustworthy this company is ?

As a returning GoSingles customer who has travelled with us previously, we were naturally surprised by the concerns raised regarding the legitimacy of the booking arrangements, particularly as your holiday is protected as part of an ATOL protected package holiday.
As explained directly, your booking, flights and seating requests were all correctly recorded within the airline allocation system linked to your package holiday arrangements. However, final seat numbers are only confirmed closer to departure in accordance with standard airline and package holiday operating procedures and remain subject to airline operational control.
In order to resolve your concerns fairly and transparently, we offered several options, including:
continuing with the holiday arrangements as booked,
arranging independent flights should you have preferred direct airline control or cancellation with a full refund of monies paid.
Following clarification of the above, we understand you have confirmed your wish to proceed with the holiday arrangements.
At GoSingles, we always aim to deal with customer concerns fairly, professionally and transparently, and we appreciate the opportunity to clarify the situation publicly.
Worst Holiday Rep Ever
Returned from GoSingles holiday to Tenerife, have had many great holidays with them in the past, but the holiday rep Sabina did not meet us at the airport.
There was no meet & greet, didn't see her at any point throughout the duration of holiday., who was she? what did she look like? does she even exist! No communication whatsoever. Could she be on her own holiday in another country! GoSingles are paying this rep for being useless & not doing her job. The only contact from her was to a whatsApp msg sent by a concerned holidaymaker from the group regarding our return pick up times for the airport. Sabina has to be the worst holiday rep ever. The only positive in all this was the hotel The Gara Suites Golf & Spa which was fabulous.

It was great value for money
It was great value for money. Easy place to find, whatever you were travel from. The hotel was a dream and the staff even better. Excellente customer services, great spa, good food (nobody could finish it all!) and Elsa was great, making sure the whole group had a memorable time. I recomended. I will do it again.

Maldives Cruise 🇲🇻 .... it was amazing and more than exceeded my expectations👌😍
It was perfect and a wonderful experience in every way: boarding Neo Cruiser on 16th March, my cabin which was luxurious, the fantastic crew, the food, the itinerary, the stunning beauty of The Maldives, snorkeling which was a first time experience for me, the incredible sealife that I saw and swam with while snorkeling (hundreds of beautiful fish, sting rays, reef sharks, manta rays, nurse sharks, turtles, octopus and the rare sighting of a whale shark!), and finally, the lovely people I met and shared this fabulous 'holiday of a lifetime' with.
I was sad to leave and return home, but feel ecstatic that I had such a fantastic time and an incredible experience 👌😍🇲🇻
I would, without any reservations, highly recommend this fabulous holiday.

I enjoy the holiday and the company of the rest of the group. I didn't like it when I found out that go singles forgot to buy the tour tickets for Granada for the group until the 12th hour when we all kicked up a fuss and even then it was for only some of the group and not the whole. The whole reason I booked this holiday was for Granada. To me this was a miselling of the holiday
