I love most of their styles and when wearing, I frequently get compliments. I have also visited three of their beautiful stores in Europe and had excellent service. In fact, I have only had good experience, even when returning for a different size or a refund. Everything was handles promptly. Some of the negative experineces I have read may well have to do with their American ware houses. My shipments come from Minneapolis and are usually quick. Preview orders.take longer and it is usually indicated at the time of ordering.
The materails.are thin because they are meant to be worn with their famous slips and in layers. Perhaps, some customers are not clued in on this concept.
I love Gudrun Sjoden clothing. The issue for me is that you use UPS delivery service which is very poor. The emails from UPS do not match what your website says. When I ordered, it said I could pick up from a locker, which I arranged. Then the clothes were delivered to my home address. The UPS app is not fit for purpose and I’m usually locked out of it. So after ordering clothes from you what follows is uncertainty about if/when they arrive. Also, if I want to return an item I don’t trust UPS to do this. I’ve decided not to order from you again as long as you continue to use UPS. I find DPD a good delivery company. I would order from you if I trusted the delivery service.
I do not understand the negative reviews at all. Customer Service is very responsive, the clothes are fabulous. Whoever complains about some of them being to thin, does not seem to understand that Gudrun makes clothes with all types of cotton and linen and also silk. The thinner cotton is great for summer pieces and I love them. They also have thicker cotton and linen which is for most of the clothes. This is an excellent brand with unique clothes that could cost 3x as much with other stores.

never received my order, tracking showed order was delivered to my mailbox on a Sunday, however USPS does not deliver mail on Sundays. they offered to refund 30% of cost, unacceptable. DO NOT BUY.
Update; They did finally refund my money, so all OK

My wife and I are frequent buyers with GS. Our experience has been great for the most part; we like the materials, colors, fit, delivery and in-house purchase experience (New York).
However, a caveat. The summer dresses/tunics that are produced in an almost shear weave are easily prone to tears; we have had 4 items tear with ease, not along seams but the material itself just separating. These were not fixable. Less than 2 months use with a $130 dress is not acceptable.
We try at all times not to buy at full retail price, rather make use of sales and end of season stock, but that's how we shop for other brands too.

Purchased shorts that I never received. My biggest mistake was not reading reviews.
This business will straight steal your money so buyers beware. This business tried to solve my problem buy asking me for more money can you believe that. Do not purchase nothing from this business, they are just another business from China that steals from hard working Americans.

I've been buying from this company since 1982. They use organic cotton and non pollutant dyes. They visit the companies who make the clothes, which are often hand woven. I love them. Especially the sales, which is when I buy the clothes. I have got every design now, I think and they do hold their price when sold. Some fabrics are very lightweight and the linen weaves are tougher. Know your fabrics! This company makes clothes for Layering! Often they are fine and see through and if you layer them properly, you will see why!

I am so sad and disappointed with the new Autumn catalogue. It seems to be yet another dumbing down of all Gudrun’s old patterns, bright colours and embroidery. The colours are simply miserable! Where are the generous fits and glorious colours that I have loved (and filled my wardrobe with) for well over a decade? The cotton linen smock blouse, I bought many years ago in a fabulous lime green and still wear it! I wouldn’t have any of the current colours in my wardrobe. Please please go back to the bright and beautiful designs, patterns and detail of previous years.

I have only ever bought items in the shop in my city. I cannot fault the choice or the service. I have always been treated with the utmost respect and politeness. However, I am wary of the fabrics I buy. As many people have said, the quality of the fabrics often does not justify the really high prices. This complaint has been mentioned regularly for the last few years, but the cotton especially has visibly gone downhill. Years ago, I bought a thin jersey skirt which proved a mistake. After a couple of washes, small holes appeared in the fabric. I had an issue with a felted waistcoat, which, as per instructions, I washed cool by hand. It shrank anyway, but the shop was not interested and made some excuse, suggesting I had done something wrong. But these are really exceptions. I love many of the designs. I have delighted family with presents of beautiful blouses over the years. But I really think GS should seriously address the issue of fabric quality. In replies to complaints, they have been saying for long enough that they will look into it, but it's clear that, so far, they haven't. And the almost transparent cotton they use in no way justifies the high prices. The radical reductions at sale times indicate that the wholesale prices of these items must be low. Overall shopping at GS is a worthwhile experience. Nevertheless, I think the company should put their money behind their promises and improve the quality of their fabrics - and try only to use natural fibres without the addition of any synthetics.
Shocking customer service. I ordered two weeks ago three items from the sale. I had acknowledgement that they had my order but two weeks after that still nothing about it being sent so I rang them. The girl on the end of the phone seemed absolutely clueless said there was an issue with My order and she’d have to discuss it with somebody else and would call me back. needless to say she never did. My emails were completely ignored in the end as I paid by PayPal I reported non-receipt of goods to them and they refunded me immediately. The money was back in my bank account within minutes. I sent a further email to GS informing them that I have had a refund from PayPal and they could regard My my order as cancelled. Two or three hours later I get an email from him saying my package has been dispatched. What a coincidence? Firstly I’m not sure. I even believe them but if it does turn up, I shall refuse the parcel at the door and it can go back to them.
It used to be an excellent company and I cannot believe how bad it has become. I will never order from them again.
I discovered Gudrun Sjoden about 6-8 years ago and, as an art professor, I fell in love with their styles and fabrics. I have no problem with this company's service-I used to be a prolific buyer, and I have never had a bad experience. That said, their style— the very reason I loved them, has tanked. I went from being a dedicated buyer, to—this past year—no longer buying at all.
Many of their newer styles appear clownish. For length, many depend on wearing underskirts. The full-skirted, longer dresses that older ladies like myself would favor are few and far between. If they're full, they are often too short. It used to be that, when the new catalogues came out, I didn't know what to buy first—there were so many great choices. Now, I throw the catalogues out- there's nothing I want.
Another problem is the fabric is literally sheer in some dresses. Gudrun, what woman over 60 wants to wear see-through clothes?
Also… the few really popular styles they have run, have run out early and are never replaced— for example, the Judit dress.
Speaking of running out… the turtlenecks that we rely on to turn summer dresses into winter dresses— how long are you going to advertise 15 colors and only 1 shirt left in the lot? I'm writing all this because I have loved Gudrun and fear it will go out of business without correction.
What to do:
1. More generous fit dresses. Many of us don't want fitted waists and we love the flowy look.
2. And make those dresses longer. A generous fit over the hips that's only 39" long is just too short— and I am not a tall person, I'm only 5'1" but for those full skirts to show to advantage, we need the length.
3. Bring back the full range of turtleneck colors.
4. Cardigans should be full to accommodate full dresses.
5. Get rid of the fabric and cuts that are clownish. We don't want our hips to be emphasized.
I know I don't speak for everyone, but I am pretty sure that, as I am an average customer, I speak for many. I'm an art professor whose wardrobe, until now, has been almost exclusively from Gudrun Sjoden. If you've lost me, you've already lost a lot of people.

They advertised made in the U.S.A. Thats why i purchased it. Then i get an email saying its being shipped from Hong Kong. They advertised that i would get the product in 4-7 days of placing the order which is an out and out lie since its coming from Hong Kong. Why are they still allowed to sell here in the U.S.

As a new customer, I bought five dresses last week, but no one mentioned that the fabric could bleed colour so badly.
When I hand-washed them separately, the colour came out heavily. Luckily, I did not wash them with other clothes, especially light or white items, otherwise the damage could have been much worse.
For a dress that costs nearly 900 SEK and is very thin, almost transparent, I expected much better fabric quality and proper colour treatment. Colour bleeding and shrinking are basic issues that should be handled before production.
Very disappointing quality for this price, and it makes me question the brand’s quality control.
I would love to know what has happened to the quality of their clothes. I can’t find any history about it online. I have only good experience with the staff, and everything I bought in the past. I also bought a dress today, but it is only for casual wear in the garden, not for anything else. I used to love their designs.
We were wondering if there are problems with the deliveries or the manufacturers, it seems that the fabrics and the designs have deteriorated, unfortunately. It is missed.
What a shambles now. After years of being a regular customer I had a terrible experience in January when I bought 4 items in the sale and only one arrived. Only when I queried the late delivery of the missing items weeks later was I told they were out of stock and my order had been cancelled.
So order cancelled, but no notification and no automatic refund. After multiple emails I finally got my money back, but with the website not even showing orders I couldn't even tell if I'd received the correct amount back!
Stupidly I thought I would give them another chance, so when I got the email announcing the Summer sale today I ordered a couple of things. The website was clearly struggling to cope with traffic, navigation taking an age, and when I got to payment it crashed.
So I now have a pending payment on Paypal for almost £150. No order confirmation email from GS. No option to check on the website as it doesn't show orders. I am not prepared to re-order and potentially be charged twice and spend weeks trying to get my money back again. So I'll miss out on the items I wanted as no doubt they'll be sold out by the time the pending payment is cancelled.
What on earth has happened to what was once such a lovely, quality, ethical company?

I have just located this information from Companies House, unable to copy & paste or share it, sorry.
But it is saying “Termination”, Thorntons Law LLP in January 2026.
It makes me think they may have gone into liquidation in the UK? I’ve sent many emails & more & there’s just a wall of silence. I’m waiting to see if my bank will refund my April Payment, but think I’ll lose the payment made on the 5/3/26 for the order in advance from the August, Autumn/Winter collection.
I now have cancer, along with many other chronic illnesses & needless to say I really need this grief like a hole in the head. I hope some of you fare better than me.
Extremely poor service. Non-delivery of item. Non-response from customer service despite numerous emails and calls.
I like most of the designs. It took me a bit to learn the sizes. Quality is not top notch. Received a sweater which had an enormous hole on the chest. Fixed it rather than deal with returns. Can't believe they actually shipped such an item out to the customer

I don't understand all these negative reviews. I have bought clothes from Gudren Sjoden for years and have had nothing but good clothes and good experiences. Lively colours and lovely designs on dresses and knitwear. Still a fan

My wife ordered 3 items and paid for 2 of them
1 A long cardigan 129€
2 and 3 And two tops
She was to be charged for the top (2) that was in stock and the long cardigan (3).
She was informed that the other top ((3) was out of stock and would be sent in April. On the 8th of May it has still not arrived.
In late April we noticed that she had been charged twice for the long cardigan (1) .
She sent proof of the double payment and waited a week or so for a reply which asked her to provide proof of double payment again .
She resent the proof and Gudrun Sjöden GS) said they would credit her for the 129€ less the price of the top which she is still waiting for.
She protested that this was unfair and was told that the GS finance department insisted on this deduction.
This is not Customer Service and anyone who deals with this company , Gudrun Sjöden , should be aware that they are not a company which is interested in customers.
