When you buy a car through them they won’t clean it from the past owners

They claim to clean the car as part of the sellers package for them and to help with the selling. But at the time of taking ownership of the car the interior smells like it’s 1992 and there are stains all over the inside of the car. As well as mold. This regards a Tesla Model 3 2019.

Thank you for your feedback. Before every purchase, the vehicle is reviewed together with the buyer, who has the opportunity to inspect and approve its condition before completing the transaction. If the condition does not meet the buyer's expectations, the purchase does not have to proceed. We appreciate your feedback and will continue working to ensure a good experience for both buyers and sellers.

Kind regards,
Car4Sale

They Hide Intentionally

When they call you, they do not tell you about the 90 days contract in which you cant sell your own car or you will pay 2500 nok. What a scamish behavior is this. Pathetic. They do it on purpose. 100%. Highly not recommended

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

When starting the sales process with us, customers are informed that Car4Sale will be the exclusive seller of the vehicle during the agreement period. This is also stated on our website.

The reason for this is that sales platforms only allow one active listing per vehicle, to avoid situations where the same car could appear sold to multiple buyers. Our customer terms also explain that if the car is withdrawn during the agreement period, the customer covers the advertising costs. This reflects actual marketing expenses and is not something we profit from.

Best regards,
Car4Sale

Pathetic approach

They did not inform about the 3 months contract on call. And sent me a faktura. They first make us pay 1700 for car wash and then 2490 if we sell the car on our own. What does it mean? That I am not allowed to sell my car on my own if I can. What kind of business is this?

Hi, thank you for your feedback — we understand why this may feel unclear.

When a customer chooses Car4Sale, it means you have decided to let us manage the sales process on your behalf. Therefore, the agreement includes a standard 3-month contract period where Car4Sale has the exclusive right to sell the vehicle. This ensures a safe and structured process and avoids situations where the same car is offered or sold to multiple buyers at the same time.

The 1700 NOK covers preparation services such as cleaning and marketing. The 2490 NOK fee only applies if the car is sold privately after we have already started the sales process and invested time and resources into the sale.

Kind regards,
Car4Sale

I had a disappointing experience with…

I had a disappointing experience with Car4Sale and want to share it—especially for other foreigners in Norway who may not be familiar with the local car-selling process.

When I contacted Car4Sale, I explained that I needed help selling my car because I had no experience and don’t speak Norwegian fluently. I trusted them to guide me through the process transparently.

They initially informed me about two fees: 1,490 NOK for the car wash and 16,990 NOK as their commission. However, when I brought my car in six months later, I was suddenly charged 1,790 NOK for the wash, even though their website still listed it as 1,490 NOK. There was no warning about the price increase.

The car was sold quickly, which I appreciate, but the process felt rushed. I was asked to sign documents while I was boarding a flight at the airport. A few days later, I received an invoice that included a registration fee, which I had never been told about. This fee was deducted from the selling price, and I only found out after everything was finalized.

When they asked me how much I wanted to sell the car for, I said the price needed to cover both the Car4Sale commission and my remaining car loan. They told me the realistic price was 360,000 NOK, and I agreed. What they didn’t explain was that the registration fee would be deducted from that amount, leaving me with less than expected.

At one point, they told me that my loan was too high for the price I wanted to sell the car for, and suggested I could apply for a loan through Horde to cover the difference. I asked how much I would need, and they told me it would be around 24,000 NOK—to cover the remaining loan and their commission. However, I ended up paying 32,000 NOK, with no clear explanation for the extra cost.

Although it was written in the contract as “Pris 360000 inkl. omregistrering”, as someone who doesn’t speak Norwegian and doesn’t understand car sales, I trusted them to explain the details. Unfortunately, they didn’t.

This experience felt misleading. If you’re a foreigner or first-time seller, I recommend getting an independent opinion or help from someone you trust—don’t rely on Car4Sale alone.

Dear Auste,

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear that your experience didn’t meet your expectations.

Please understand that price adjustments—such as the increase in the car wash fee—are due to market index regulations, much like how prices may change in a grocery store over time. When there’s a gap of several months, price updates are to be expected. All our current prices are clearly listed on our website and outlined in the brief agreement you sign to initiate the sales assignment.

Regarding the registration fee, this cost is consistently communicated: orally, on our website, in the signed agreement at the beginning of the process, and again in the sales contract. As is standard, the buyer pays the registration fee, but you—as the seller—must settle any outstanding car loan you've chosen to finance the vehicle with. Fortunately, we work with excellent partners who can assist with refinancing options if needed.

We strive to support all clients—local or international—with clarity and professionalism, and we truly regret that your experience felt rushed or unclear. Your feedback helps us improve, and we wish you all the best moving forward.

Kind regards,
Car4Sale

The car was sold yesterday

The car was sold yesterday. The money on my account today. Got a far better price than the trade-in offer from Tesla, even after expenses. Excellent personal follow-up from Car4Sale. What more could you wish for?
