Neo financial has been an excellent…
Neo financial has been an excellent institution for the last 4 years for me. Recently i’ve had a few questions, and their support has always been quite helpful, specifically Yeni and Grant directly from Reddit. Thank you Neo!
One of the best fintechs I have ever used
Neo is genuinely a great company. Great products like their chequing accounts that come with a cashback debit card, high-interest savings accounts, or cashback credit cards with credit building options. They're always innovating with new features and it's exciting to see them bringing more competition against the big 5.

Bad Experience
I have a complaint, the Neo representative wasn't honest. She said that I was pre-approved and that no Credit check was supposed to be done. I found that a hard check was done on me, and I lost a lot of points on my credit score. This was an absolutely bad experience. This lady was at Fairview Mall, North York, in November 2025

Poor customer support and unfair dispute handling
I had a very disappointing experience with Neo Mastercard. I noticed a transaction on my account that I did not authorize or recognize, and I immediately raised a dispute with them.
Unfortunately, my concern was not handled in a helpful way. I was told that because the transaction was more than 3 months old, it could not be refunded. There was no flexibility or real investigation into the issue, even though I reported it as an unauthorized charge.
What frustrated me most is the lack of support and accountability. As a customer, I expect a financial institution to take security concerns seriously, especially when it involves potential fraud. Instead, I felt dismissed and left without a proper resolution.

Way back in February at a location at Don Mills in North York I was ruthlessly harassed by an employee . Where he grabbed my phone and looked through my gallery to try to find my SIN number after I told him I didn't have my bag or wallet . I didn't I was there to catch a movie with a friend . They did NOT back off. You know that was bad enough - However being flagged and told I was lying about my experience by Neo financial themselves for not having proof of a purchase is disgusting . Why would I buy anything from Neo financial after an employee harassed me and grabbed my phone ? " They don't believe it was based on a true experience" Drop your egos I had no idea about your company untill I was heckled by one of your employees. Watch this get flagged too . You guys are disgusting .

I was unaware of a reoccurring charge
I was unaware of a reoccurring charge, when I discovered this charge, I contacted NEO the instructed me to contact the merchant. In doing so, it took another month to sort out what was going on.And that's another charge, when I communicated this frustration with NEO, and how I felt that if they were just canceled it in the first place, I wouldn't have gotten that charge. They explained the process involved.Nonetheless, they did a thorough investigation credited/charge back Everything. The process was thorough. It took some time they communicated well during the investigation and updated me as things went along. I was disappointed on a different occasion. When NEO did not update my account in a timely Mandarin. When a merchant refunded me this practice, let's no longer happening. And NEO move to funds fairly quickly. When a refund happens All and All I would recommend NEO, this company is on the ball. It's worth the switch. They have great cash back features. And if you're not sure, just test the water's which just add them on no harm done there.I'm sure you'll like it and you will continue using them in the future
Neo financial is the way to go.....
Neo financial has so far been the very best bank i have ever had to pleasure of working with, amazing features and excellent customer service, as well as no monthly fees. Couldn't have asked for a better banking system to do all my banking with.
Neo Financial refusing to pay out my earned cash back balance owed my account without any notice or clarification
Neo Financial closed my account without clarification and is refusing to pay out my earned cash back balance, resulting in a theft of funds.

My two stars are reflective of the fact I just got transferred from The tim hortons credit card to neofinancial. I got the tims credit card to feed my coffee habit. at the same time I can buy anyone in the world coffee, by anyone I mean my children who call me for coffee. Its funny that neofinancial doesn't know how much money I make. Or that I own a business. It has not been a great card, but it hasn't been a bad card. Its a Meh Credit card. I used to use its rewards for free coffee at tims. I think I still have few cups left there. Its app isn't spectacular and it offers me no incentives to stay with neofinancial other that my name in the computer world is Neo. I will give it 6 months. then I might dump this card. Lets see if they can wow me.

Repeatedly denied advertised bonuses – I no longer trust Neo
I’ve used Neo for years and have now been burned twice on promised bonuses. First, I opened a Neo savings account long ago through a Virgin Mobile / Virgin Plus promo link that advertised a cash bonus for signing up; Neo pulled the offer and never paid the bonus, despite me meeting the requirements.
More recently, I applied for the Cathay World Elite Mastercard, met the full spend requirement with a large Cathay Pacific purchase, and waited months for the extra 25,000 Asia Miles welcome bonus. After multiple chats and an “escalation,” Neo finally replied that I was never eligible because I already had a Neo deposit account and the Cathay card was not my “first Neo product” – a restriction that was never clearly shown on the public promo pages or application flow, which just advertised the 35k + 25k Asia Miles structure.
They did credit the regular earn rate (4x miles on Cathay spend), but flatly refused to honour the welcome bonus they advertised, and took months to say so. Combined with the earlier broken Virgin‑linked savings bonus, this feels like a pattern: aggressively market promos, then rely on hidden or after‑the‑fact “eligibility” rules to deny them.
On top of that, the Cathay promo code for flight discounts only applies to specific routes and fare classes buried in the fine print, so many people will find it doesn’t work for their trip if they don’t read everything carefully.
Overall, I no longer consider Neo a trustworthy company. If you do choose to sign up, screenshot every offer, read all the PDFs and fine print, and assume you may need to fight to get what was advertised.

Several fraudulent charges on my account, 30 days after and no action taken, impossible to talk to human being constantly referring to bots, this company is basically a fraud as they protect fraudsters instead of their customers, keep away from this shitty company, do not understand how they can operate in todays financial spheres as they do not respect any laws.

My car was broken into my Neo financial credit card world elite was stollen 1000$ of charges were completed during the middle of the night I reported it stollen first thing in the morning when I seen notifications for purchases I did not complete master card has a zero liability but Neo expects card holders to be up 24/7 to know if someone has stollen their card the same happened for my visa but visa reversed the charges I’ve provided Neo with the police statement and photos of the person who stole my cards and they will not cover the charges including a statement from the police and the store I was told they are not a bank so they do not have to fallow Canadian laws on credit cards or fallow master cards policy’s do not trust them Neo financial can contact me Neil Belanger through my account or email neil14n on all socials and I can provide more information and my phone number plus records from the police

Using the Neo United World Elite…
Using the Neo United World Elite Mastercard is good I think but the math to convert miles to dollars is not super intuitive. I compare this one to my other world elite mastercard (which I haven't used for a while) and the cashback is very intuitive to k ow how much I'm getting back. I understand that miles are different, but realizing how far I am to an actual trip is not easy. I only managed to get 3600 miles during the first month which I guess it's ok, but hard to know and use.
I like that on paper it seems like it's a good deal and I'm getting good miles, but I would have to try it a bit more to make sure is alright.
I haven't tried much the lounge perks or the other perks from the card yet as I haven't had to travel.
The one thing is understandably not Neo problem but for me doesn't help the experience is that having to see how many miles I have in total and how to use them have to be done through the united account which by itself is a bit extra.
Enjoying the Neo United World Elite Mastercard
I’ve been using the Neo United World Elite Mastercard for about a month now and honestly I’ve had a really good experience with it so far.
The biggest surprise has been how quickly the miles add up between regular spending and the Neo partner network. I originally signed up mostly for the United perks and flight discounts, but the day-to-day earning has actually been stronger than I expected. The welcome bonus was also pretty easy to hit and posted without issues.
The app experience has been excellent too — super easy to track purchases, rewards, and progress toward benefits. It feels a lot more modern than most travel card apps in Canada.
The United-specific perks are what make the card stand out for me. If you already fly United or Star Alliance a few times a year, it’s pretty compelling.
Only things I’d improve:
- Better explanations of some travel insurance/perk details in-app
- More partner offers in certain categories
- Higher credit rating potential
Overall though, I’ve genuinely enjoyed using it and it’s probably one of the more interesting travel cards launched in Canada recently.
Neo = Amazing cash back
Neo has provided me with great cash back and alot of opportunities to continue earning cash back by providing an easy to use app to locate other partner businesses which provide additional cash back earnings. The true power of Neo lies in the incredible earnings amounts for groceries, gas and recurring payments though which range from 3-5% and are much higher than most other competitor cash back cards!
Good Banking!
Great customer service, easy app to use. Transparent banking. Great cashback %!
NEO is exactly the sort of banking…
NEO is exactly the sort of banking service that I'm proud to be associated with. They provided me with the ability to start rebuilding my credit, and are heavily involved in community outreach to continually improve their service offerings to their consumers.
