I have been using Wagepoint for ten…

I have been using Wagepoint for ten years or so and originally they were great. A relentless downgrading of service has now reached email contact only. In "upgrading" us to Wagepoint2 they cancelled my access rights and converted me to employee status. Everytime I tried the login process, I was locked out and ordered to contact customer service or my employer. The can see that I am the Administrator, but take no steps to rectify this. Their staff end up acting like robots because Wagepoint makes it impossible for them to respond to customers. Terrible service, all of the executives hide behind a virtual assistant. Email addresses are withheld, which a points to a company that knows how bad their service is and wants to avoid facing the issues. Time to find a new payroll service and you should too.

Hi Meredith - thank you for ten years with us, and for being upfront about how frustrating this has been. Being locked out of your own account as the administrator is a serious issue, and we want to get it fixed directly with you.

Account access problems like this are something our team can resolve — please reach out to us at support@wagepoint.com with your account details, and we'll make sure the right access gets restored and confirmed. We take this seriously and appreciate the chance to make it right.

Wagepoint just doesn't seem to care at…

Wagepoint just doesn't seem to care at all. We've been waiting for days to get our payroll submitted, and when I called their toll free number they refuse to help at all, instead they just open a ticket and then you hang up.

"FINTRAC verification is a compliance requirement for all Canadian payroll providers, and a change on your account triggered it"

This is a mispresentation of what the issue was. We completed FINTRAC verification just fine. What actually happened was Wagepoint messed up and refused to let us run payroll for several days with no clear explanation or eta.

They said "This appears to be a system issue rather than an actual rejection of your FINTRAC verification."

Hi Alex, FINTRAC verification is a compliance requirement for all Canadian payroll providers, and a change on your account triggered it. While that process is underway, you can calculate your payroll amounts using the CRA payroll calculator and enter them manually in the meantime: https://apps.cra-arc.gc.ca/ebci/rhpd/beta/entry

If you need a hand getting through it, we're here at support@wagepoint.com.

Wagepoint and Their Star Fever: Small Businesses Aren’t Allowed on the Red Carpet

I tried registering with Wagepoint, and the next day a very friendly representative even called me and thanked me for registering. Honestly, I loved it! I submitted all the documents, went through face control and ID approval, and then saw a message on my account saying everything would start working in 3-5 business days. But after 10 days, I realized something was wrong and contacted support. They again responded very politely: "...Sorry, system errors happen, but we'll figure it out!" The next day, my registration was denied without explanation! They didn't appreciate my small company and my impatience to start working with them! It seems these guys have a slight case of "star fever"; it seems they only want big clients... Good luck to them!

I switched to Divino, and suddenly it seemed like the world could be different: they respond quickly, they check documents without any mysticism, and overall, it seemed like they really did need clients.

If you're a small business and don't want to waste time trying to impress Wagepoint, it's better to go straight to a place where you won't be kept waiting, like at a reception with a Hollywood star.

Hi Andrey — thank you for giving Wagepoint a try, and for being specific about what made onboarding hard.

The onboarding steps you went through are part of FINTRAC compliance requirements that all Canadian payroll providers are required to follow. We understand that process can feel like a lot, especially when you're just getting started.

We're glad you found something that works for you. If you ever want to give Wagepoint another try, we'd be happy to help. Wishing you and your business well.

Wagepoint submitted T4's to CRA without employers approval after employer switched providers from Wagepoint to another provider part way through the year. CRA now has two T4's for my wife. And our refund is now showing a balance owing.

Hi Jeff, thanks for flagging this.

When auto-submit is enabled on an account, T4s are filed with the CRA automatically at year-end. It sounds like that setting was active, which would explain the duplicate filing.

T4s submitted from our end can be cancelled at no charge, which should resolve the balance owing with the CRA. Reach out at support@wagepoint.com and we'll get it taken care of quickly.

Hi Dan — thanks for taking the time to share this.

You're right that payroll can't move forward if the funds aren't in your account — since we deposit directly to your team's bank accounts, we need those funds available before we can process. That's a frustrating spot to be in, especially when you're juggling a lot.

If you ever hit a missed pay date, there are a few options to keep your team paid and your compliance obligations covered — our support team can walk you through them. Feel free to reach out at support@wagepoint.com and we'll help you figure out the best path forward.

I've used Wagepoint for 10 years. It's always been bad and it's getting worse. The just migrated from time-based MFA to SMS, a regression. They "upgraded" from v1 to v2, but every staff member complains that they can't access v1 to get their T4. Just now an employee in v2 wasn't paid because of a missing field. There was no notification and no clear indication of what's missing. They just silently didn't pay the employee.

Hi Adam — ten years means a lot to us, and we want to make sure this gets sorted out properly for you.

On the MFA side: if SMS isn't your preference, you can switch to an authenticator app and select "remember this device for 30 days" to reduce how often you're prompted. On the Wagepoint 1.0 question: your v1 account stays available in view-only mode until April 1, 2027, and your 2026 data will be accessible in CSV format in Wagepoint 2.0 after that. If you need historical data pulled sooner, our team can help with that too.

We'd also like to look into the missing field issue directly — reach out at support@wagepoint.com and we'll dig in with you. Thanks for sticking with us, Adam.

Not very effecient and their IT team is useless

I am writing to express my extreme frustration regarding the ongoing technical issues I have encountered since onboarding with Wagepoint. While the initial setup process was relatively straightforward, the subsequent technical difficulties and the support process have become a significant burden on my business operations.

For several days, I have spent a considerable amount of time attempting to resolve system errors. I find it highly unprofessional that your support team repeatedly requests screenshots and videos of my team logging in to verify these issues. This requirement has forced me to repeatedly ask my employees for documentation, which is not only inefficient but also reflects poorly on my leadership. It is my expectation that your IT department should have the internal tools necessary to review account logs and troubleshoot these system restrictions directly without placing the evidentiary burden on the client.

Due to the lack of a timely resolution, I am now forced to manually input all payroll data to ensure my team is paid on time. This is a significant waste of resources and defeats the purpose of utilizing a payroll software service.

This process has been extremely frustrating and time consuming

Tried to sign up our 7 person auto shop as we needed a new solution. Took well over a month until we were even ready although we promptly gave all information requested. The enrollment process was so difficult we ended up going with Zoho and were set up in a week with no issues. If they are this bad when they are trying to get your business they must be abysmal when you are there.

Very terrible company. I do not recommend if you are a business thats needs any admin help. They set you up then leave you to fix and find things out by yourself.

Hey Ashley, I’m really sorry to hear this was your experience.

Getting Wagepoint payroll set up should feel like a supportive experience from start to finish, not like you’re left to figure things out on your own. It sounds like we didn’t show up the way we should have during that process, and that’s frustrating, especially when you’re just trying to get things running smoothly.

If you’re open to it, I’d really like to understand what happened and help get you properly supported. You can reach us at support@wagepoint.com, or share your details and we’ll follow up directly.

We appreciate you taking the time to share this, it's the kind of feedback that helps us do better.

Thanks to Wagepoint I’m living one of Kafka’s nightmares.

I don’t have the right email so they can’t help. I no longer have access to an HR or Wagepoint admin so I can’t be helped. The company is defunct, I a pitiful employee have no control over that, trust me if I did I would be employed still. I provide proof via my personal email to show them hey here’s what’s happening from my end, no bueno to them.

Their Wagepoint 1.0 web portal HTTP301s for infinity so I can never login and view my paystubs or tax documents properly unless I jerryrig something with the cache and cookies.

I have working credentials and working 2FA but their webpage portal for old accounts is busted. I provide the proof to the CSR and she escalates. Weeks go by and I ask for an update, she escalates some more. Get a reply today to basically go pound sand for the reasons above. Just back to square one. To me it means it got escalated and no one did anything for weeks, then someone on the team found a technicality to worm their way out of actually doing something. Look you guys don’t want me emailing or leaving negative reviews then have a proper web page portal. It cannot 301 on the end user for funsies. Beyond aggravated.

Hey Hassan, I can hear how frustrating this experience has been for you, especially when you’re just trying to access your own paystubs and tax documents and keep hitting roadblocks.

From what you’ve described, this situation is tied to the employer account your profile is connected to. In cases like this, access to records is managed by the employer or account admin on file.

That said, we still want to help point you in the right direction. If there’s any way to get in touch with a former admin, payroll contact, or someone from the company who had access, they’ll be able to request the changes needed so you can log in and retrieve your documents.

Misrepresentation

Misrepresentation: “we usually approve accounts in 3 to 5 business days”. It's been 14 days and still counting, and this is after I cancelled my old payroll service. To say this is a disappointment is an understatement. Now payroll is going to be late, but they don't care. This kind of service is a precursor for future service so I cancelled Wagepoint.
