Failure in Customer Service new account

I have some inheritance coming from my mothers estate and some is with Propera it has taken months to hear back and now either I open an account or have them send me a check. When I tried to open a bank account so it can be deposited into a term deposit I was refused opening a new account. Strange considering the purpose of a credit union is to encourage new accounts especially when the money is already significant. I guess they lost a customer

The staff at Prospera Credit Union have always been very helpful and attentive to my needs over the many years that I have dealt with them.

Worst customer service by Tammie Wright

Tammie Wright

This person is very rude and spoke very unprofessionally to me.

I applied for a credit card and i was to bring Canadian piece of ID and paystubs and NOA if im self employed. Then this person was late for the appointment and mentioned that I need to be a member pf the credit union and reside in British Colombia. this is a very major information should be highlighted before applying. I waited three days for the meeting and u guys here are rudely talking to me.

Poor Service At Prospera

My wife and I rented two Safety Deposit Boxes at Prospera Credit Union. We did not have any accounts with Prospera, we only rented out the Safety Deposit Boxes from them. The fee for this rental was automatically taken out of another financial institution by Prospera.
We went into the Prospera Branch in early January of this year. We removed all the items from our Safety Deposit Boxes and cancelled our rental. And then in late March, Prospera once again withdrew the money from our other financial institution. We went into the Prospera branch where they confirmed that the cancellation of our Safety Deposit Boxes was completed and the withdrawal of funds by Prospera was done in error.

We received a phone call from Prospera the next day telling us it would take 180 days for us to get our money returned and there was nothing they could do to return our money any faster. They said the only other alternative was to contact the financial institution where the money was withdrawn from and see if they could facilitate the return of our money more quickly.

I have no issue with Prospera making a mistake and withdrawing our money in error. We are all human and we all make mistakes. What I do take issue with is it taking 180 days for them to rectify THEIR MISTAKE, with our money. It's not the fact they made a mistake that upsets me, it's their complete and utter lack of any reasonable resolution to fix their mistake that upsets me.

We have now gone to our regular financial institution, where Prospera withdrew the money from, and they have gone out of their way to help us. It will still take 90 days for us to get our money, but it was not our financial institution that made the mistake, it was Prospera.

I thought others should be aware of the kind of service, or rather lack of service, I received from Prospera.

I should also point out that the woman at Prospera who was trying to help us was very nice and I believe she really tried. So I do not in any way hold her responsible. I do however hold responsible Prospera as a Company, and whoever it was at Prospera who thinks it's O.K. to keep someone else's money for 180 days for a mistake made by Prospera.
