I spoke with Meriem from Eco-cycle August 12/26. Not only did she make several attempts to contact me, she called this am, listened to my story and said they would make it right. I work in retail and I was blown away by how quickly I received a response from Eco, and as a retail customer, how quickly they made the decision to make it right.
This is not an Eco-recycling issue, this is a driver from a towing company who acted alone. I’m extremely happy with Meriem and her team!

Experience:
On August 11/26, United Towing showed up to pick up our vehicle for Eco-Recycle, for the agreed price of $500.00. I was clear the engine didn’t work, and Eco advised that was not an issue. The driver showed up, checked the car and said the catalytic converter was “after market” and the engine couldn’t be sold. He offered $150.00, then after we asked him to leave, he started negotiating. Long story short, we ended at $300.00, but felt really pressured by a 4000lb truck sitting in front of our house. Meriem from Eco-recycling was amazing, and we will use their services again. Customer service was amazing!

Very courteous person who came to see car, work out price and make payment. He made everything clear snd kindly guided me through the unfamiliar process of doing everything by smart phone. The car was not towed away until several days later, but that was a minor problem. I was sad to have to scrap a car that had served me well for nine years, but the courtesy of the company's representative made it a positive experience overall.

Driver was friendly and helpful. Very fast it was all done is about 5 minutes. Especially liked that they came to me.

(Update: Yassine contacted me very quickly. He assured me that this is not how EcoRecycle does business and managed to get me back part of the $200 removed by their contractor. I am completely satisfied with how this was handled and have bookmarked the website for future use. They really are extremely professional. A+ service.)

I like the overall service, however my experience with the 3rd party scrapyard left a bit to be desired. They came to collect my 2015 honda civic yesterday. The “employee” arrived promptly and said he was there to inspect the car, if all went well he would pay me, take the keys and a tow would be by later to pick it up.

After inspecting the car he sent photos to his boss, of the same rust and dents I had already uploaded and explained in the initial process, and his boss came back saying he only wanted to pay $1500 due to the rust, dents and possible dead ac compressor. (All were mentioned and photographed before the bid was made).

After a lot of back and forth and almost walking on the deal he agreed to $1800. I did accept this as I didn’t want to walk away, but I do feel the bid should have been honoured. Even his technician told him the car was as described.

So all this to say my problem is more with the towing company than ecorecycle itself. But it still sucks to be offered a price and have it rescinded.

This is a great company. They made selling my old car very easy. Very good communication and customer service. Fast, easy. Customer service representative named Homer was really good. He answered all my questions, explained everything well and worked everything out when the first sale didn’t pan out.

On the EcoRecycle bidding, the buyer offered $1100 for my car then on arrival to collect they knocked the price down to $700 because they said that the catalytic converters had been removed.  This was a lie which I have been able to prove afterwards with photos but at the time we agreed to the reduced price because we were stressed. 

We contacted Ecorecyle afterwards.  Ecorecycle took this very seriously and said they had other similar complaints about the same buyer.  They have cancelled that buyer's contract and been able to recover $200 for us.  

This confirms that Ecorecycle are a good company with excellent customer service who take their reputation seriously.  Most of their buyers are trustworthy - I got an untrustworthy buyer and Ecorecycle took action.

I called multiple scrap yards and they offered a price, through EcoRecycle I got exactly double the price.. It was fast, smooth and professional experience.. Highly recommended
