This was my first book. I researched cover artists on Fiverr, Reedsy, and Etsy, then did a Google search and found a review by a book cover designer saying that Ebook Launch is top-notch in the field. (That hit me.) If someone who is IN THE BUSINESS is recommending them, they must be good. I was very impressed with their cover artwork samples, lead time, and pricing. They listened to all my ideas and thoughts and came up with two beautiful options. I also chose them to do the book formatting (both ebook and print) and SO GLAD that I did. (As a newbie, they helped walk me out of my panic tree a couple of times.) Thank you, Ebook Launch team!

This was my first time using a professional cover designer, so I was understandably a little nervous about how the experience would go. Alisha, my project manager, was amazing to work with! Communication was a quick turnaround and they really listened to the feedback that I gave on the different iterations of the cover until we finally landed on a cover that I absolutely love. A few months ago, I finished my first novel. I had attempted to format it myself, but quickly became overwhelmed (Microsoft Word is trying at the best of times), so I went looking for specialists. I happened across this company, and I'm very glad that I did. I had the pleasure of working with John, who expertly and seamlessly formatted my novel for eBook, Paperback, and I was supplied a .PDF to send to reviewers, agents, etc. Everything looks perfect, and the small editing errors that squeaked through (my fault) were quickly addressed in the revision process. The available resources were plentiful and easy to navigate. The advertised time frame was adhered to almost down to the minute as well. The whole process was smooth, kind, and professional and it has completely removed all my anxiety about publishing my book. Ebook Launch was wonderful to work with on both my ebook and print covers, as well as formatting both versions. For this debut author new to self-publishing, everything seemed a daunting task but working with their teams made it all not only possible but also exciting -- to see my creation come to life! The cover came out beautifully, true to my vision, and uploaded without any of the issues I've read other new authors have encountered. Same with the formatting -- no issues at all uploading the file. Will definitely call on them again when the time comes.

I wanted one service( proofreading). I was told my manuscript ( which was edited - I worked with two professional editors to get the manu exactly as I want it) needs to be “ edited”. Evidently, their position is the personnel who have proofreading expertise somehow cannot proofread a manuscript unless it is deemed by them to be “ professionally edited”( which it was- I worked with two professionals to get my manuscript exactly as I wanted it.)

The key here is the manu was written( edited) exactly as I wanted to it. Alas, the personnel who are proofreading experts ( who hadn’t any idea of the editing that had taken place) felt it necessary to have me be informed it needs to be “ professionally edited “. Granted, I had fun in an email playing stupid and asking what “ copy editing “ means- but I could not resist- the emails received were staggeringly bizarre. The focus on the firm’s part ( and nobody ever stopped and said “ This guy is joking, surely he knows what copy editing means”) was to have me purchase a service I did not want.

It was clear the game being played was trying to get me , a return customer- purchase a service I did not want . The proof ( and this is so bizarre) is the email received stating their website states “ get a professional edit first” ( it seems nobody ever stopped and said “ Let’s ask this customer “ Was this copy edited?”- to which I could have replied “ Yes, it is exactly as I want the manu to be”) .

The focus to get me to purchase a service I did not want- because somebody deemed the manu needs editing( even though it has been edited to my exact specifications).

As a customer, I could not have been easier to deal with- I don’t haggle over price, I accepted estimates. All I wanted was a service I wanted. Yet the focus was to tell me what is “ needed”( even if I did not want this deemed “ need”).

This insane exchange ended with me being told -one does not paint a wall until it has been prepared for painting- yes, but what if one is happy with the condition of the wall and just wants it painted? As well the correspondence contained the dismissive comment that the firm “ doesn’t have to “ proofread my manu and I am free to use another service( As if I didn’t know as a customer I am free to give my business to a provider of my choice?).

Funny how the dedication to getting a customer to purchase services they did not want , blinded the firm to the extent they lost a customer because they refused to provide a service a customer was seeking.

That is what I did, contacted another provider ( recommended) and informed them “ This is what I want, will you do it?”
They demonstrated an appreciation of my patronage and said “Tell us what you want, we’ll do it”.

I gave them the proofreading project as well as a full package for an additional manu. ( Which I had mentioned to ebooklaunch I would be giving them that project.)

My first experience was very positive; sadly as a returning customer it was ( hilariously) bizarre.

My email exchange is going to be a great social media series of posts. I’ll put up screenshots of the utterly ridiculous exchange on X and Google Reviews.

I approached this project with little know-how, so it was great to find a professional company with great people who were willing to patiently guide me through everything, while making a great product I could be proud of. Will definitely use again!

Formatting an ebook on Kindle is not an easy process. I uploaded my manuscript dozens of times before getting it right, but I was never completely satisfied with it. That’s when I discovered Ebook Launch. They were able to create an epub from my Word file and now I have a much more presentable version to upload on Kindle and other ebook sites.
