Our guide Lois made the experience and tour even better. He was very knowledgeable about the area and historic sites and was very personable and easy to understand. I would highly recommend this tour and if you get Lois as your guide - even better!!

Great tour with a great guide.

If I could give Civitatis zero stars, I would.

We booked and paid in advance through Civitatis for a 09:40 transfer from Civitavecchia to Fiumicino Airport on Saturday 29 August, operated by SIT Srl. Booking reference A41197258.

We received a full booking confirmation and, unbelievably, Civitatis sent us a reminder message the day before the transfer, confirming the booking and telling us where to meet the bus after disembarking from our cruise.

So we did exactly what we were told.

We arrived at the meeting point with our 4-year-old child, luggage and pushchair, only to be told by staff wearing orange that **there was no bus operating that day.

No warning. No cancellation. No email. No alternative arrangement. Nothing.

We had paid in advance for a service that simply wasn't being provided, yet Civitatis had still allowed the booking to go ahead and had sent us a reminder the previous day as though everything was completely normal.

We were then effectively left to fend for ourselves. We were pointed towards another bus company and told we would need to purchase new tickets, at approximately €30 per person (€90 Total)

Imagine arriving at a port with a young child, luggage and a pushchair, expecting a pre-booked and pre-paid airport transfer, only to discover that the service doesn't exist and you have to find and pay for another one yourself.

It was extremely stressful, completely unacceptable and entirely avoidable.

The fact that Civitatis sent a reminder the day before makes this even worse. If the service wasn't operating, why was our booking not cancelled and why weren't we informed?

We had an airport to get to and no choice but to pay again for alternative transport at short notice. As a result, what should have been a straightforward journey became a stressful and significantly more expensive experience.

Civitatis failed to provide the service we paid for and failed to warn us that it wasn't operating.

I have now submitted a formal complaint and expect:

-A full refund of the original booking
- Reimbursement of the additional costs we incurred because of their failure
- A proper explanation as to how a transfer could be confirmed and a reminder sent the day before when it wasn't operating

This isn't a minor inconvenience. When you book an airport transfer, you are relying on the company to actually get you to the airport.

Based on our experience, I would think very carefully before relying on Civitatis for an important transfer, particularly when travelling with children or when you have a flight to catch.

Extremely disappointing. Extremely stressful. And completely unacceptable.

We booked the bus tour and tapas tour with Civitatas, everything was straightforward and easy to follow. Bus tour was great. Tapas tour was absolutely brilliant.

The guida was very knowledgeable and told us much more than just about the subject of the tour, but told us about how life was also after world war 2 in Poland
