VAT Payment for an Amazon Order of €40 within the EU
I was called by local post office to pick an order from Amazon.de that actually came from China. I had to drive to post office and pay for VAT and customs for a 40 euro purchase made on their website for an EU address. Their website states clearly that I was not supposed to pay for it. When I contacted Amazon.de, they wanted me to contact the seller and they said they couldn't resolve it themselves. Never answered my question if what happened was legal, and they didn't want to bother to handle the issue. If they are not going to be involved, why they sell items like that?
After three weeks from my initial review, they refunded the amount related to the product cost. As a result, I am updating my experience rating to reflect their corrective action.
