Beware!

I was enthusiastic about ordering these screens. For ages I had been looking for something like these and finally came across their website.
I duly ordered 3 different sized screens with the correct measurements and paid the fee. Not cheap. With customs charges it came to near on a £1000 but I though it would be worth it. Well I was very wrong. They duly arrived and when I checked them they were all the same size not the 3 different sizes I ordered. Also the button holes did not match the drawings.
I sent an email and the reply was due to manufacturing tolerances of 1 to 2 cm there would be slight errors. I replied that thye should be able to make them more accurately than that and they replied increasing the errors to 2 to 3 cm. I said that was not acceptable and they agreed to make one of the screens (largest) again with more care. It arrived but was just the same size as before. I emailed again and they suggested a partial refund or to make the screen again. By this time I had managed to get the first 2 screens fitted albeit by warming and stretching. When the replacement arrived I though I would have a go. I managed to fit it but I really had to stretch it and I do not think it will last long as the strain on the button holes is immense.
I sent some pictures of the screen showing the measurement error, how stretched it is and also it is not even square but never received a reply. I waited a week or so and resent the email and pictures but still have not received any reply.
So bewarwe if you need a screen with some degree of accuracy in size as they dont seem to be able to manufacture their screens to the measured drawings. The material quality seems ok but just let down by poor manufacturing errors.

Review of Waggy Tails

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Poor quality and even worse customer service.

Although I liked the harness I bought for my dog, the chest adjuster kept coming loose. I emailed the company about the problem but they never got back to me. I did try again but still failed to even acknowledge any communication. So based on the poor adjuster of the harness and their terrible customer service they only get one star. I certainly will not recommend them to anyone.

Review of Latham's Hardware Ltd

Rated 4 out of 5 stars

I am updating my original review.

I am updating my original review.
I originally left a 1 star bad review because I had not received my product and Lathams were not returning my emails or calls. Since then I have heard from Matt at Lathams and he profusely apologised for the poor service and explained what had happened with staffing. He sent my product which was received within a few days and has since phoned again and emailed to check all is ok. That is the sort of service I would expect and I am glad it has all been sorted and I fully accept his explanation. I cannot give 5 stars because of the what happened originally but they have since redeemed themselves and I will use them again.

Review of DIY Splashbacks

Rated 1 out of 5 stars

Had bought 2 splashbacks from them and…

Had bought 2 splashbacks from them and they were find. third time it needed to be a certain shape. Sent them a detailed drawing but when splashback arrived it did not fit as one dimension was larger than I specified although all others were spot on. As such it did not fit under the window cill. I contacted them explaining ther situation. There answer was to wedge a bit of wood under the cill to lever it up so I could get the splashback under. Bit of a bodge if you ask me as that would damage the surrounding area. They also said I should have deducted 4 mm from all dimensions for expansion. If glass can expand or contract 4mm across a 160mm dimension then they must be using crap glass. They also claim these are machined with a cnc machine. well they need a new cnc machine or a better operator if they cant machine to very good tolerances. Anyway they have not replied to my email and I have wasted £160 so they get one star for crap customer service. They dont seem interested now they have my money.

A human hair is 0.06 to 0.08mm so you are a little out with your comparisons. I measured your splashback with an 8 inch Vernier caliper. Not a ruler. So very accurate.

Customer claimed his splashback was 1.2mm too big (word for word). A little under 1/20th of an inch or literally 1/825th of a metre. There is a 3-4mm tolerance on all glass and glazing products due to how it is cut. We do 100% explain this on our website on at least 300 product pages, you can't miss it.

Regarding not replying to his email detailed here in the customer review...

"There (sic) answer was to wedge a bit of wood under the cill to lever it up so I could get the splashback under. Bit of a bodge if you ask me as that would damage the surrounding area. They also said I should have deducted 4 mm from all dimensions for expansion."

These parts of the review about levering the wooden sill up a fraction (1.2mm) to get the glass in and detailing the 4mm allowance is all of course our reply to his email otherwise where did these comments come from? We were simply explaining how to fit the panel, we fit them every day and know all tips and tricks when required so please don't hesitate to ask if you have a problem.

If you have not read this, have measured incorrectly or your tape measure is inaccurate (as most are) that is indeed unfortunate but all we can do is put the information on every single one of our product pages to explain this and if you have a problem we'll do our best to help you work around it without incurring additional expense.

Yes though all shapes panels are cut using CNC that's correct. Our £1/2 million CNC is most certainly more accurate than any tape measure, there is no question of that. Perhaps that is where the inaccuracy may have stemmed from and not our product.

We do understand you are unhappy your product does not fit for one reason or another but there's no need to embellish the truth about not replying to your email but yet quoting our reply.

Yes though. If ordering from us, as instructed on our website, please deduct 4mm to ensure you have no problems. Wooden Kitchens expand in high humidity (not glass), tape measures are highly inaccurate and there is a tolerance on all glass products. If in any doubt check the glass and glazing federation website where it's all explained. If you need a product perfect to one thousandth of a metre, glass isn't it and it's going to cost an awful lot more than our very affordable products so please do allow for the very small 4mm tolerances- the gaps are not visible once fitted and sealed.
