Pilton Auctions …
Downsizing following the death of my husband I asked Pilton Auctions to collect furniture no longer needed by one person in a smaller house. I paid £70 each, plus VAT for four vans to collect my 'Treasured possessions'. The fourth and last van failed to deliver its contents consisting of antique furniture, 17th century copper log basket, Game Boy and a pair of full length double width Laura Ashley curtains. I was told I could place a reserve on the items from the three van loads that did manage to arrive, but every reserve was ignored and antique items that should have fetched a reasonable price were sold for a few pounds, less 19% commission ! Interestingly, the driver of the van kept up a running commentary to his two assistants as to who would have what; either he had extensive knowledge of the local population or perhaps local shops and antique dealers who frequent Pilton Auctions for their merchandise. All in all a bad experience I could have done without. My Solicitor wrote to Pilton twice, more expense, regarding the missing items, both letters were ignored.
