Telekom Terror
I cancelled my landline after receiving an unwanted call from a telemarketer saying that I had to upgrade in order to keep the service. I received notification that it would be cancelled till the end of April, so far so good. Not so! I received May, June & July invoices & despite numerous calls to the hotline who each time assured me it would be taken care of I have now received a final warning having blocked their attempts to debit my account. If you try and contact them by email you are steered down avenues of contact formulas that lead nowhere, so you are forced to call the hotline. This used to be a good company, but those days are long gone.
rufnummermitnahme taken place even…
rufnummermitnahme taken place even though i emailed and asked them to cancel my damn request
The promised interim solution turned into an expensive contract at the regular price.
I ordered a Telekom fibre connection on 20 March 2026. As the fibre connection was not yet available, the order included a temporary internet solution intended to cover the waiting period.
For several weeks, I received no installation appointment and almost no useful information. Telekom sent me a router, but the temporary connection was not properly activated until I repeatedly contacted customer service.
Eventually, a MagentaZuhause XL Flex connection was activated on 1 June. However, instead of being provided under the conditions of the temporary bridge solution associated with my fibre order, it was billed as a separate full-price contract.
I was charged €16.18 in April, €7.95 in May, €56.85 in June and €70.89 in July, although the service I received was not what I understood had been agreed when placing the fibre order. The actual DSL performance was also poor: a speed test on 26 June showed approximately 21 Mbps download on an XL tariff.
Trying to obtain a clear written explanation was unnecessarily difficult. Telekom repeatedly directed me towards calls and chats, while I wanted a written record of what had been ordered, activated and charged. The information provided at different stages was inconsistent, and resolving a straightforward contractual and billing issue required far too much effort.
I have now arranged to move to another provider and requested cancellation of the still-open fibre order.
My main criticism is not simply the delay. It is the lack of transparency between the original order, the promised temporary solution, the contract eventually activated and the amounts subsequently charged. Customers should be able to understand exactly what they are agreeing to and why they are being billed.
I tried to cancel my MagentaTV…
I tried to cancel my MagentaTV subscription and was told the whole package couldn't be cancelled because a Big TV addon had a cancellation already pending next month. So first I have to wait for that addon cancellation to actually take effect, only then can I submit a cancellation for MagentaTV itself, which comes with its own one month notice period on top. It feels like the process is deliberately structured to keep dragging out how long you stay a paying customer instead of just letting you leave when you ask. If you're considering signing up, know that cancelling later may not be as simple as it should be.
canceled installation appointment without giving a new one soon
Waited for the installation appointment for 2 weeks. They were supposed to come today; I waited all day at home. Now they called to cancel the appointment and give me a new one in 2 weeks time! I work from home, shame I lost my time and didn't find another provider on time
I am a customer in Hungary
I am a customer in Hungary. It is the worst possible service provider. It takes days to get a fault fixed. There are often issues with billing. I would switch providers, but they are the only ones in my area. All I can do is wait and hope the service improves someday.
Two weeks without internet
Two weeks without internet. A move to the next entrance of the same residential complex — 50 meters away. One click in the system, you’d think. Not for Telekom.
10+ calls. 15+ agents. Hours on the phone in total. The record: 1 hour 44 minutes, transferred four times, result: zero. Meanwhile one decent agent at the end solved everything in 5 minutes. Just 5 minutes. So what exactly happened during all those other hours?
One agent said: notify us 4 weeks in advance. Another: just call on moving day, we’ll switch it instantly. A third: the socket is old, needs replacing. In 4 weeks you could run fiber optic cable through a forest and give beavers high-speed internet. Here we’re talking about the next building entrance and it took two weeks.
Four tickets created in the system. Two cancelled by Telekom themselves. The rest stuck “in progress” with no movement. And after every single call — a request to rate the agent within 24 hours. But the promised fix is always scheduled after that window. Brilliant: everything marked “resolved” in their system, while in reality — silence and darkness.
I still haven’t figured out who’s fooling whom: customer service operators fooling customers, the operators fooling its company, or everyone together fooling customers and common sense simultaneously. Telekom isn’t an internet provider. It’s a comedy show where the customer pays for a ticket and sits in the dark.
The worst customer service in human…
The worst customer service in human history!! Try to reach them for anything and you will be miserably failed. I have subscribed to MagentaTV today, but couldnt login, neither could i restore my password. Nothing is working on this website. Tried to chat to a human but the chat was automatically closed 5 times in a row. Went to the hotline which said "1 min waiting time" and hung up after 35 minutes of waiting and listening to Thomas Müller trying to sell me MagentaTV. WTF!
No internet for 3 weeks after move – false promises for 3 months
I have been a Telekom customer for years and this experience has been the worst I have ever had with any provider.
I registered my flat move in February, clearly stating from day one that the fiber box in my new flat belongs to M-net (UND identifier). In April I followed up and discovered nothing had been processed. The agent I spoke to assured me everything was now sorted and that I would have internet on move-in day, 26th May. I was given false assurances.
I moved in on 26th May with no internet. After spending an entire day going through chat, the hotline (where a call was dropped mid-transfer to a technician), and visiting a Telekom branch in person, the only solution offered was a technician appointment on 18th June — nearly 4 weeks after move-in.
Had anyone flagged the M-net infrastructure issue at any point between February and May, I could have booked a technician appointment months ago. Instead, I was repeatedly told everything was fine.
I am now working from home with no internet, have had to escalate formally threatening cancellation under §314 BGB and a complaint to the Bundesnetzagentur, and have involved Check24 as intermediary — all just to get basic internet service I was promised.
Completely unacceptable. Avoid if you are moving flat and have anything other than a standard Telekom setup.
They STILL don't accept credit cards???
How is it possible, in the year 2026, that I can't use a credit card to buy a €1000 product at a Telekom shop? This is insane! I'll never do business with this company ever again.
Very frustrating experience
Very frustrating experience. Telekom support does respond, but the issue remains completely unresolved.
I have been told that Samsung or Mobilezone must take action, while Samsung keeps telling me to contact Telekom. As a result, I am stuck between all parties with no progress at all.
Even though there are replies, there is no real effort to solve the problem, and the customer is left dealing with the situation alone.
WATCH OUT - FINGER WEG - SCAMMERS.
WATCH OUT - THEY WORK WITH SCAMMERS.
They work with Ranger Marketing, door to door salesmen that lie to you, avoid Telekom at every opportunity if you don't want to support fraud.
Paying for a "Premium" Connection to 20% of the Internet? No thanks.
If you are considering Deutsche Telekom for your home or business, be warned: you are not paying for "the best network," you are paying for a hostage situation. For years, Deutsche Telekom (DTAG/AS3320) has been engaged in a toxic peering policy that effectively breaks the internet for its customers. Their refusal to engage in settlement-free peering with major backbone providers and CDNs like Cloudflare is a blatant attempt at double-dipping.
As a customer, you pay a premium for a high-speed fiber or DSL line, while service providers like Discord, Cloudflare are expected to pay Telekom again just to deliver the data you already paid to receive. Because Cloudflare refuses to give in to this "peering toll," Telekom routes traffic through congested, low-priority transit points. The result is high latency, massive packet loss, and websites that simply do not load—even on a Gigabit connection.
We reached our breaking point after realizing that even our Business Line suffered from these same artificial bottlenecks. When critical cloud services, CDNs, and security infrastructures are throttled during peak hours, it is not just a technical hiccup—it is a threat to business continuity. Telekom is abusing its market-dominant position to create a two-tier internet, violating the spirit of Net Neutrality. They are treating the open web like a 1990s cable TV package, where you only get fast access to those who pay Telekom’s extortionate fees.
We have officially migrated both our Private and Business lines to competitors with open peering policies. If you value a fast, open, and reliable internet connection, stay as far away from Deutsche Telekom as possible. They are not building the digital future; they are charging you for a VIP seat in a parking lot.
Rude and pathetic customer service
I would give 0 start to this company. Very rude customer service. It is better to go with 02 at least they are available to answer all our queries and questions. Deutsch Telekom might have good internet service but their customer service is pathetic. No sense of attending call with customers.
They use deceptive patterns that are…
They use deceptive patterns that are forbidden under EU law so you can not cancel their products. also the customer service scams you into buying things that are have hidden costs
Horrible contracts that lock you in…
Horrible contracts that lock you in forever without making it clear
The customer service was rude and the service is unstable.
The customer service was rude and unfelicitable, but the network somewhat is ok and far away from being stable. However, after signing the contract, the service completely changed. I couldn’t believe how poor the communication was and how arrogant the company was.
Worst isp worldwide
I’ve lived in many parts of the world, signed contract with different isps .. I just want to say Telekom Germany DSL has been the worst so far it terms of stable connectivity .. isp’s in Africa even has better internet connectivity than Telekom. If you’re a streamer or gamer ..plz do your best to avoid this company .. it’s been the worst regret of my life knowing I have to be on this contract for two years before I can cancel . An absolute disgrace .
I’ve been using Deutsche Telekom for my…
I’ve been using Deutsche Telekom for my mobile service for a while now. I chose them mainly because of their strong coverage and reputation in Germany, especially compared to smaller providers. In terms of network quality, I can’t really complain — signal strength is generally reliable, even when traveling outside major cities.
That said, the overall experience has been mixed.
The biggest issue for me has been communication and billing clarity. Plan details, add-ons, and pricing changes are not always explained in a clear or straightforward way. I’ve had more than one situation where my monthly bill was higher than expected, and I had to carefully go through the breakdown to understand why. Nothing was technically “wrong,” but it definitely wasn’t obvious either.
Customer service is another area that feels inconsistent. In-store staff are usually polite and knowledgeable, but getting help through phone or online support can be slow. I’ve experienced long wait times, and sometimes the answers feel generic, as if they’re reading from a script rather than addressing the specific situation.
The app and online portal work, but they don’t feel very user-friendly. Simple tasks like checking detailed usage, reviewing past bills, or changing plan options take more steps than they should. It’s functional, but not intuitive.
Overall, Deutsche Telekom delivers solid network performance, which is the most important part. However, the complexity of plans, lack of transparency, and uneven customer support make the experience less satisfying than it could be.
I wouldn’t say it’s a bad service, and I’m not actively rushing to switch. But for the price they charge, I expected clearer communication and a smoother customer experience. For me, that puts it firmly at a 3-star level — reliable, but not impressive.
