Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 176 reviews, most reviewers were somewhat happy with their experience overall. Travelers frequently praise the incredibly helpful, welcoming, and friendly staff members who make the entire vehicle handover process smooth and very easy to understand. Many consumers also deeply appreciate the clean, well-maintained motorhomes that provide a truly comfortable home away from home during their holiday travels. However, some customers also noted recurring issues with unexpected equipment malfunctions, broken appliances, and missing kitchen items upon initial pick-up. A few people also experienced frustrating collection delays, poor communication, and generally unhelpful service when dealing directly with the local branch staff.

Terrible experience - avoid!

1 Star – Absolute Disaster: Unsafe Van, Massive Delays, and Zero Quality Control

Do not use this company unless you want your holiday ruined before it even begins.

Our recent experience with Indie Campers was an absolute nightmare from start to finish. We had driven a long distance to collect our motorhome, scheduled for a 1:00 PM pick-up. We arrived slightly early at 12:45 PM, only to be told it wouldn't be ready until 3:00 PM. When we returned at 3:00 PM, it still wasn't ready, and staff had no idea when it would be. The office was full of angry customers all being fed the exact same excuses for their late vans. We were finally handed the keys and drove off at 5:00 PM—four hours late.

When we finally got the van, the condition was shocking: Take photos and videos and check everything on the van before you drive off!

Severe Interior & Exterior Damage: The seats were dirty, the exterior was heavily scathed, and the main door was literally held together with tape and mastic. The door was so hard to close, the handle broke off in my hand trying to close it!

Major Safety Hazard: The indicators were completely non-functional when we inspected the vehicle. How a rental company allows a vehicle onto the road with broken indicators, a basic, critical safety component, is beyond me. Pointing this out delayed us even further.

Subpar Extras: The paid "kitchen kit" was just a plastic basin crammed with loose, unorganised crockery and cutlery. We handed it back immediately.

Because of their 4-hour delay and safety fixes, we didn't reach our first campsite until after 10:00 PM. Our entire first evening was ruined; we simply went to sleep and left the next morning. To make matters worse, when we woke up to make a cup of tea, we discovered the gas bottle we had paid for was completely empty.

While we eventually received a partial refund after a painful back-and-forth process (refunding the gas bottle, kitchen kit, and a meager £120 for the wasted day and atrocious experience), no amount of money offsets the stress, lost holiday time, and blatant lack of vehicle safety maintenance.

Avoid them at all costs!

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS ! THIS IS NOT A UK OWNED COMPANY.

Also known as Bunk Campers and Indie Campers

My experience with this company was abysmal and that is putting it lightly. Missing pre ordered items then fobbed off when I asked where they were. Dirty stained mattress with insufficient bed linen provided. I had to buy a camping mattress on route at £60 to make it work.

Vehicle broke down half way through the trip, called and called with no answers, managed to limp the vehicle to the next town and only by a text message service with AI could I start speaking with the company. I eventually got a call handler pick up the chat and was told to repair the vehicle at my own cost and they would pay me back.

Took into the local garage. They flagged it and said it had been in the same garage 8 days earlier for the exact same fault. This means Indie Campers just turned it around and sent it straight back out. The garage told me it could cost a few hundred quid or they could clear the fault codes and see how it goes. I took the latter as I was wary of paying a big repair bill.

The vehicle worked for 1.5days then went into limp mode. I couldn’t get more than 20mph going up hills in the Highlands of Scotland.

All in all 4 angry voicemails over 3 days and not once did I get a call back. Another time said it was putting me through after 10 mins then cut off. Managed to get the AI chat bot again and it told me to pull over. Well I knew I wasn’t going to get assistance so I decided to limp it back to Edinburgh.

Not being able to get hold of the breakdown line I called sales and you guessed it. They picked up immediately. I was furious and the lady was practically laughing at me and said well I’m not sure I can be any help. Asked for a call back NOT A CHANCE no call back !

On checkout I was told, we can offer you 14% money back as compensation but if you don’t accept you’ll likely not get anything. Basically good luck with that. So I said yes.

3-weeks later and not a sign of the money coming back to me I am owed.

Terrible Experience .... Have Indie Campers broken JustGo?

I am writing this review very reluctantly but feel I need to make others aware of our experience before they book a camper van rental with Just Go.

Our experience during the booking process in March was excellent. The JustGo team, who I understand are based in Scotland, could not have been more helpful and friendly to deal with. We booked our campervan and paid our deposit confident we had made a good decision. However, sometime between making our booking and picking up our campervan, Indie Campers took over JustGo and our experience headed badly south from there.

During the lead up to our holiday, information started to arrive from Indie Campers which was just wrong and did not reflect what we had booked with Just Go. In the worst case, our booking showed a 2 berth Aero Van when we had booked a 5 berth van (we are a family of 5).

When we contacted Indie Campers, it was clear that we were dealing with an offshore call centre who did not understand the package we had booked with JustGo. They could not confirm what van we would receive and we also started to receive emails that were asking questions they already had the answer to and offering vague suggestions.

The Indie Campers IT systems continued to show incorrect information, asked for payment when we had already paid and did not align with anything we had booked. We continued to make contact with Indie Campers but the service reps clearly did not understand the JustGo services, and despite assuring us they would take ownership of our issue to resolution, we never heard back from anyone.

It took a lot of phone calls and caused a lot of stress before our holiday and we still didn’t have confidence that the left hand knew what the right hand was doing. It was just woeful.

After 2 weeks of calls and emails, we did finally get confirmation of our campervan type and that no money was owed by us. Once this was confirmed, we booked a 2pm pickup, however, we had to wait 3 hours at the depot to collect it. We did not leave until after 5pm and had to truncate our son’s birthday dinner as a result.

There was such a big backlog of people picking up RVs at the depot in Toddington that it put the poor JustGo representatives under a lot of pressure – the result being that we got a rushed 5 minute tour of the RV by a lady who clearly felt under pressure. It was just a terrible few hours for everyone.

A special shout out to Suzie and her team at Toddington who did their best under significant pressure. We also noticed at “drop off” that they have had to put up notices about tolerating abuse – how has it come to this?

The takeover of JustGo by Indie Campers ruined our Justgo experience. Unfortunately, the overall experience was so disappointing we will not be using JustGo again.

Also, a final word of warning …… Indie Campers issue an email that makes it a condition of the return of the deposit that we must complete an automated review process. This is not in the JustGo Ts&Cs and IMHO is not legal. I wasn't going to leave a review and just "move on" from this experience (life it too short) but as they hold our money and we want our deposit released, I have provided a review that reflects our experience above and hence why I have left one here - I just wonder what they will do with it?

If I could give zero stars

If I could give zero stars, I would.
We arrived two hours ago to collect the RV we booked a month in advance, and we are still waiting. What makes this even more frustrating is that people who arrived after us have already collected their RVs and left.

Nobody has properly explained what is happening. We are simply being told that someone is late and that there is nothing they can do. But that delay is now affecting our holiday and costing us valuable time.

The company may charge the person who is late a late fee, but we are the ones paying the price for the delay. Our holiday company will not compensate us for the hours we have lost waiting to collect an RV that was booked well in advance.

This is extremely disappointing and completely unacceptable customer service. We expected a smooth collection process, but instead our holiday has already been negatively affected before it has even properly started.

several issues with the camper that were never resolved

We had several issues with the camper. Bed slats fell out of one of the beds making it unusable. We were only given 3 out of 4 sets of bedding we paid for. USB points did not work. Wait times to collect were very long. I raised the issues on 4 occasions both with their support system and there process at the end of the hire and with the staff directly. So far after over 2 weeks I only have responses from AI and nothing from a person. I used them many times in the past but since taken over by indie campers the quality and service has become terrible. I recommend using someone else.

Dreadful service

Dreadful service. Booked a 2pm pickup service from the London Liton depot, confirmed on my booking. Arrived early, 2 staff dealing with returns and contracts. Now 3.37pm and still not served. Staff rude too. Dreadful service will not use Justgo again.

Ciaran Collins

Hi, the camper-van itself was in fair condition, a lot of scuff marks on outside that didn’t bother us, my bother had to spend a few hours cleaning, again that we didn’t mind. Our main problem was the paper work which was incorrect and when we noticed this (Friday evening 5pm) they had closed, insurance papers had different names under different license numbers and when we tried to contact someone about this to get corrected no one available to take call just AI, tried calling numbers on Saturday but still no answers, everyone was unable to drive. Still waiting on a reply. Avoid these if possible as we are 3 days into our trip and still didn’t get back. Hoping maybe this will prompt them in getting back.

They were ok when they were Justgo

They were ok when they were Justgo, but I will never touch them again, from the start it was chaos, when booking was told collection time was between 2pm and 4pm, on the day when I check (with a human not AI) that I could not pick it up until 4pm (strictly), I arrived at 2pm onsite and was greeted well, no problem van was ready at 2pm !, would have made a significant issue driving for 5hours if I left it until 4pm, then get back, dropped off at 10am, told all is good deposit was returned no issue, then the following evening I noticed I had been charged £250, with no explanation, this took half a day to get" cleaning fee" excessive pet hair and mud, we didnt take a pet and its been dry for months, there was no mud !, also be aware the vans do not come with kitchen kit (plates, cups etc), that's now £30 extra as well as parking my car, I have used justgo for nearly 10 years no issue, but Indi Campers are just ripoff merchants, £200 to prepare the van, then £250 to clean it so then next poor person has to pay £200 to prep it and again £250 to clean it, wow, that should be illegal, I'm disputing the charge and taking them to small claims, luckily they even sent me before and after pics in my dispute, massive mistake by them, evidence is clear no deep clean needed) , please be aware and think twice, I wish I had realised they were trading as a new company and not Justgo anymore.

I would strongly advise others to think…

I would strongly advise others to think carefully before using this company.

Our experience started with waiting over two hours just to collect the vehicle. Things only got worse from there.

Additional late return options and an extra night's hire were added to our booking that we never requested only enquired about. I contacted the company and had the extra night removed, this was confirmed.

Despite this, seven days after returning the motorhome and being told there was nothing left to pay with John in Broxburn they still charged my credit card £387.52 for the extra night that I never had.

I have now contacted customer services twice. On the first occasion, they admitted it was their mistake and promised a refund. On the second, they admitted the refund had never even been processed and assured me it had now been authorised. Days later, I'm still waiting.

Because of their error, I'm now paying interest on my credit card while they continue to hold my money.

Mistakes can happen, but the way this has been handled has been extremely disappointing. Poor organisation, poor communication and very poor customer service. I cannot recommend this company based on my experience.

The check in process was shocking

The check in process was absolutely appalling.

Received an email from them the day before the booking saying it would be busy and there might be a queue, so arrived early (1.30pm) to be at the front. It turns out that the queue of customers means nothing. The queue which governs is the queue of vans being cleaned etc. So arriving promptly just meant I spent more of the afternoon in their offices waiting and (maddeningly) watching others arrive later and jump ahead. Why not let people know on the day where their van is in the queue so they can arrive later ?

Their systems had not recognised my online payment of the booking balance over a month ago. Even though I had an email confirming the balance had been paid, they couldn’t move forward with the check in until someone in Portugal had done something with that. Another 30 minutes lost.

And the comfort pack I booked - table & chairs, sheets, etc - was not available as “their cleaners had let them down”. That could have also been flagged in advance so we could organise alternatives. Oh, and they couldn’t refund me for that in the office - that will take up to 15 days to be paid.

Once we arrived at our destination we found that the water heater wasn’t working due to an error code on the controls. The telephone technical support helped me reset it, but why was it handed over like that ?

Oh, and they hadn’t filled the water tank, meaning that shortly after getting set up at the campsite we had to pack up and drive to a tap to fill it up.

We had a great trip with a just go motorhome. The van we got was in a good condition, and no complaints about equipment. The pickup process was a bit delayed due to a queue, the return was extremely fast and smooth. The staff (John and Avy) are friendly and helpful.

Left stranded in France for 3 days

We hired a motorhome from Indie Campers/Just Go for our honeymoon, spending over £4,270, including their Premium Protection Plan because we wanted the reassurance of priority roadside assistance and a replacement vehicle if anything went wrong. The motorhome broke down within hours of arriving in France, and from that point onwards the experience was nothing short of appalling.

Despite paying for premium support, no roadside assistance arrived. We spent almost six hours stranded in a service station, repeatedly sending photos, videos and our location while receiving very little meaningful help. We had to contact the French motorway operator ourselves to arrange recovery and pay €280 out of our own pocket. We were told this cost would be reimbursed to us, but when we paid and sent the invoice over, they then informed us it would be reimbursed 10 days after drop off... We were left to sleep in an unsecured recovery truck depot, no one checked in on us from Indie Campers.

Over the next two days we were repeatedly left to organise mechanics ourselves, chase for updates, and deal with poor communication. Promised overnight accommodation was never provided, a replacement vehicle never materialised, and we ultimately lost prepaid campsites and abandoned our honeymoon early because we had completely lost confidence in both the vehicle and the support available.

They did eventually find us a replacement vehicle and we were promised "it's a good new one." But it was either in Brussels or Frankfurt they weren't quiet sure, we would have to make our own way there, their only suggestion was to book a taxi... Being towed back to the UK was offered, I suggested towing our replacement vehicle to us but I was told that's impossible.

An independent mechanic later advised us that the engine oil appeared to at 29,400 km miles since a change, well over for replacement and identified further issues with the vehicle's oil monitoring system and DPF, leaving us with serious concerns about the vehicle's maintenance before it was hired to us.

This should have been the trip of a lifetime. Instead, it became one of the most stressful experiences we've ever had.

We have submitted a formal complaint and hope Indie Campers will now do the right thing, but based on our experience, we cannot recommend them.

AVOID at all costs

Everything was going fine until Indie campers took over .... Terrible comms, fobbed off telephone calls, contradicting information to genuine questions, emails take a week to a month to reply and are useless for any concerns. We cancelled with a lost deposit but better than spending thousands and having a nightmare abroad at the side of the road as some have. Indie Campers have terrible ratings in Europe (except Portugal where they are based, surprise - surprise), Trust Pilot UK have suspended them due to fraudulant reviews, many previously were 1 star horror stories. We had an expensive close call, but happy with our choice and gone elsewhere. You have been WARNED !!!!

Shocking Company DO NOT rent from them

The motor home I was given was not what I had ordered. Several things were broken: Toilet leaking into main dining area; TV not work: Leisure battery not work on Fridge/Freezer: Broken blinds: Sat Nav not work even when representative tried to do it with his own phone.
Trying to register a complaint is virtually impossible. There is no direct number.

Previously happy repeat customer but no longer

Used this company several times over the last few years and always very happy with experience. However since being bought over by Indie Campers the prices have increased significantly leading to me no longer being a customer. The fees added are exorbitant for example £200+ for preparation??? Initial price noted at £85 per night but bumped up to over £700 for a 5 night hire is unacceptable. Unfortunately I will no longer be a customer of the company unless they are willing to reconsider some of these ridiculous fees.

Tread with caution.

I have been hiring campers from Just Go for many years, often hiring two a year. Always had a great experience all round. The company has recently been sold to Indie Campers and the changes have been dramatic. Reduced staffing levels leading to a wait of over two hours for collection with no time slot given as was the previous system. Mild damage happened to the vehicle which was mended within hours of drop off (I actually went straight back to the depot to view the damage within hours of drop off to be told that I could not see the vehicle as already in cleaning dept) . Was given an initial figure for the damage by email which was around the figure expected and that I had also discussed with the team at the dept, however when the damage report arrived, the figure was three times as much. Have argued for weeks as the final figure was way more than the actual costs could have possibly been. Have got no where and will therefore not be hiring from Just Go again. An example of how new owners can completely change the service, policies and overall experience for the worse.

AVOID, terrible customer service

We hired a 6 berth camper for 17 days back in Easter. The booking process was good, picking it up wasn't great and we had some problems. We had water in the wing mirror, which caused the bulb to go, which they just cleaned out and replaced the bulb and said it will be fine but during our trip it started filling back up with water. We were wild camping for the 1st few days and had no water, we somehow lost 100L of water during our journey. We had no oven tray to cook with, had to find a shop in France to buy one.
No plug sockets worked in the camper when wild camping, you have to be connected to the mains, was not told this.
The pins in the mains lead were loose and would get stuck in the plug when we disconnected.
Blinds were broken, we told them when we picked up the van and someone came and had and look and said no they are ok. The bin was held together with wood screws so the plastic lid on the plastic bin kept falling off.
The main problem we had was when we converted the dining table into a bed it broke! We tried to fix it, we rang and reported it. We were told to go and find someone who can fix it, pay them and they would reimburse us. My problem was we were in the middle of our holiday, parked up at a holiday campsite in Spain. I don't want to use my precious holiday time with my children to go hunt down someone who could or could not fix it. So the youngest (13) had to share a bed for the rest of the trip.
When we returned the RV to the Toddington branch we told them we wanted to make a complaint and they sent us a link to do so. Well who knew it was going to be such a palava.
So while we were away Just Go was taken over by Indie Campers, we have been past all over the place trying to get some compensation for all the issues we had.
I have submitted the complaints form twice, I have called over 20+ times, I have been told my complaint is 10th queue so someone will get back to me soon. I went back to the Toddington branch to speak to a manager, there wasn't one on site that day but I got her email address and we have been communicating but today she tells me she doesn't deal with complaints or compensation and she is just escalating my complaint.
I would have recommended this company before as we have hired from them before as they are local to us but after this experience I would not recommend. Avoid!
