The longest security check I have ever experienced. The staff were incredibly slow, and there’s no point in having automated systems if the people checking the bags move at a snail’s pace.
The instructions were also unclear: my boyfriend was first told to put his laptop inside his backpack, and then told to send the bag through security again, adding another 20 minutes instead of simply checking it themselves.
A very frustrating experience. I’m grateful we had plenty of time before our flight, but it definitely makes me less keen to fly from Düsseldorf again.

2 immigration officers to services multiple airbus landings is unacceptable. It is not reasonable to stand in lines for over 2hours to get through immigration. Hundreds of countries have this figured out, but clearly not Dusseldorf Airport.

Terrible, slow, understaffed, nasty, and inconvenient airport, queues till tomorrow

The security staff were extremely rude and disrespectful. They were insisting on rules that I have never encountered before, despite having taken many international flights.

Even if these are specific security requirements at Düsseldorf Airport, they should be communicated clearly and politely to passengers. There is absolutely no reason for staff to behave in such a rude and unpleasant manner.

This was by far one of the worst security experiences I have had at an airport.

The queues for both bag check and passport control at Düsseldorf Airport are ridiculously slow and inefficient. Processing times are unacceptable, causing unnecessary stress for travelers. The airport seriously needs better crowd management and more staffing at critical checkpoints to handle passenger flow. One star is too much. I thought Germany was known for having everything running smoothly and on time?

The security at this airport is a disaster. Personell is so slow that missing your flight is a high probability. 30 minutes for a manual check is fully unnecessary. I have never seen security personell with such a low working ethic. Slower is impossible.

the positive: there are some nice places to get food, and the security check people are kind and nice. all other airport staff are extremely rude and the process for checking in and getting through security and onto your plane is so ridiculously complicated and opaque, and nobody gives you helpful advice (or people even give conflicting advice) when you ask for help. it is especially awful for travelling with families. they badly need to get organised!

Probably the worst airport I've ever had the misfortune to use. The search area was slow and inefficient. The security agent that searched my bag was rude and aggressive. This is quite typical in German airports. Please teach your security staff some manners. I will never use this terrible airport again.

Total chaos, waiting in line for security will take over 2 hours. Lots of people who don’t know how to handle their jobs and seem to be randomly changing procedures, or just standing around barking at people creating more chaos.
Extremely long lines. No clear signs what to do and where to go. Almost lost the flight because of this, only the unexpected delay of the airplane made it possible to get on it. No priority of time-schedules.
This airport needs to get its procedures sorted out.

One of the worst airports I have ever used. Security took over 20 minutes even though it was maybe 20 people in the queue in total. More than half the bags needed manual scanning. People at security barely speak English, best they can do is German + few English words. Many places have German only signs. Swinging doors moving from Schengen to non-Schengen that open 20 minutes before your internal flight, with German only sign telling why, and no sitting area to wait for the door to ve opened. Random airport staff lady angry screaming in German while opening and closing the door. Airport looks very outdated, like third world country airport, small and crowded, not suited for modern flights.

Poorly laid out eg passport control after duty free in Terminal A, permit control in middle of gate waiting areas in Terminal A. Long queues for both, appear to be staff but many just standing around, very slow processing of people & luggage. Once through passport control in T A no duty free, shopping or food, complete joke!

Very unpleasant security control staff, arogants, lack of basic culture rules, unfriendly, unprofessional , this is how few persons can destroy image of serious airport, better to avoid this airport in the future

Disgusting staff, horrible threatening treatment from police man twice my size. Berated personal medication around the staff and other travellers and refused to allow me through so had to pay to check bag in.
First time in Germany and I hope to never come back again.

My mother needed a wheelchair to get to the gate. We had one booked in advance. The staff were extremely rude and barked orders to me. I speak fluent German. They were absolutely horrible to us and I will avoid Düsseldorf airport in future. I am still upset at the treatment we were given and I will never understand how these people get jobs in hospitality. A horrible experience.

Really poor experience as many,many others have mentioned on here that arrival passport control are super, super slow and staff rude. In the non EU line don't even bother greeting staff in german as they don’t respond at all and of every country i have visited this airport staff check every stamp in my passport 3 times extremely slowly. The time taken was just not acceptable and for no reason at all and they were doing it to everyone. I have visited germany so many times and lived and worked here and the Düsseldorf airport welcome is just not one that would make me want to return. If you want to put tourists off from visiting then you are going the right way about it, there are lots of other countries to spend my tourist money in. Will not be using the airport again and cannot recommend flying into it for a trip to germany. Never had a similar experience at any other airport.

What a mess, Monday morning and they have 1 security line open. And no water fountain. The exact opposite of German efficiency.

Rude staff, extremely painful and long security checks. The worst Airport experience I have ever had!

Completely farcical, over an hours to check in… we were unable to do this online so had to wait in a queue, with other flights getting pulled to the front. Then we joined the security line, at point where the line split was told to join a different queue which by all accounts took 3 times as long. We had arrived 2 and a half hours before our flight and didn’t even get the time to use the loo, let alone grab some breakfast or waste money on duty free.
