I've been using Bitpanda since Gemini…
I've been using Bitpanda since Gemini stopped operating in Europe, and while it has some strong points, there are also a few major drawbacks.
The biggest issue is the price spread. The difference between Bitpanda's buy price and the actual market price can be surprisingly large, making purchases significantly more expensive than expected. On top of that, the trading fees are relatively high compared to some competitors.
Another downside is the lack of a true professional trading platform. Bitpanda mainly offers its standard interface, which is clean, intuitive, and easy to use, but it lacks many of the advanced features that active traders may be looking for.
On the positive side, customer support has been excellent in my experience. Responses have been quick, and any issues I've encountered were resolved efficiently.
Overall, Bitpanda is a reliable and user-friendly platform, and I continue to use it because there are currently few comparable alternatives available in Europe. However, if a platform like Gemini, with lower fees, tighter spreads, and a professional trading interface, returns to the European market, I would seriously consider switching.

An expensive lesson in how not to run a financial platform
My experience with Bitpanda has been appalling from beginning to end.
They were unable to return my money, while their support team kept passing me around instead of actually resolving the issue. After more than a dozen emails and what appeared to be an extraordinary administrative struggle on their side, they finally managed to initiate the refund. Apparently, pressing the “send” button was only the beginning of the expedition, because the transfer then took another two weeks to arrive.
The fees are another unpleasant surprise. The spread is substantial, and additional transaction costs make the platform extremely expensive compared with a proper cryptocurrency exchange. Before buying anything through Bitpanda, I strongly recommend checking the actual execution price and calculating exactly how much Bitcoin you would receive for the same amount on a regular exchange.
According to my own calculations, I was effectively around 6–8% behind from the start because of the combined spread and costs. In practical terms, Bitcoin would first need to increase by several percent just for the investment to break even. That is not investing — it is starting a race several metres behind the starting line while Bitpanda congratulates itself on providing a “simple” experience.
The interface may look convenient, but convenience becomes rather meaningless when support cannot resolve basic problems, refunds require an email marathon, transfers take weeks, and the pricing quietly consumes a significant part of your money.
My advice: compare the purchase and immediate resale value before confirming any transaction. Do not rely on attractive marketing language. Check the numbers yourself.
I would not recommend Bitpanda to anyone who values reasonable costs, competent customer service, or timely access to their own money.
