Amex Platinum is a scam company
Amex Platinum is a scam company. Applied, promised 250,000 points if I spend $20,000 in 3 months. Spent $19,700 and was within 3 days before deadline. Charge 2 separate purchases on Amazon which would've put me at $20,500 easily, charged 2 days before expiration of deadline. Amex said the merchant didn't process until 5 days after charged. Refused to give points as promised. Scam company. I will pull out all accounts with Amex including a savings account that I had $100K+ in. Never will come back and will tell all friends and family this scam company.
Truly the worst
Truly the worst. I’ve been a customer for over 10 years, have never missed a payment, and yet this company continues to reduce my credit limit, which has significantly impacted my credit utilization and, in turn, my credit score.
After more than a decade of being a responsible customer, it’s incredibly frustrating that there seems to be nothing they can do to help or reconsider these reductions. Instead of rewarding a long-standing customer with a perfect payment history, their decisions are actively hurting my credit profile.
Extremely disappointing experience.
What a joke of a company
Good ol American Express with call centers in India. Great. Nothing says American like outsourced call centers.
Onto the real issue. Like many many others have stated, I have had my account for several years. Put a decent couple charges on the card and then paid it off the next check to keep the account in good standing. I've done this for years. This last run, I had to put some vet bills on the card. Not even 5% of my limit. AMEX demanded I pay well over $1500 on the card or they'll reduce my limit by over half. Excuse me? This is how you want to treat your customers? Needless to say they reduced the limit. I called customer service and, at the time, politely asked them to reinstate my original limit and explained my good history with them. Customer service said they'll "put in a request". After 3 months, not so much as a peep even after I called and asked for a status update.
Good bye AMEX. You USED to be somewhat decent. You lost alot of customers. I hear there are other companies not screwing their people over left and right.

Made a purchase from website than turned out to fraudaulent , when I contacted AMEX they told me to open a dispute after i explained the seller was clearly fraudulent , it has been nearly two months and now they are asking me to provide proof of a refund being offered ? The seller is a fraud clearly if they actually did there research. Absolute disgraceful customer service.
Been with American Express for nearly…
Been with American Express for nearly 10 years. Used to be a great service with great customer service, and now it's become a joke. Blocked all my cards 20 days ago because a photo ID needed uploading. Did it straight away, and cards and over 120,000 in points are still blocked. Opened a formal complaint but got no answer at all so far. Leaving them for good now. Just looking at everybody else's reviews says it all.
Let me share with you a very bad…
Let me share with you a very bad experience. Find another club in ATL. The centurion club by American Express is the worst customer service you will EVER deal with. Chelsea is one of the rudest people we have ever dealt with. She will not smile and tell you to stand in a spot that was only 3 inches from her screen, she will talk to you like you are a dog, she will make you put your phone up on the screen and then when you don’t listen to her commands she will roll her eyes and tell you to go to another desk. Great Job Amex for hiring people like this to represent you. The way she treats customers that spend millions with AMEX. Wow She is the reason I will be closing my card. It’s not worth the $800 you spend on the annual fee to hold the card. There are many more credit cards that you could hold and not have to deal with rude people that represent American Express.
American Express Credit Cards
I don't understand all of the hatred on American Express. I have had Amex credit cards off and on for 30 years. I have appreciated the customer service in many cases. Even when I had a business downturn and my platinum card was taken away, it wasn't a bad experience because they tried to work with me. Of course, I'm back and continue to have pleasant experiences for the most part.
No customer service…
Pretty much no customer service anymore. Completely unusable when something goes wrong. Avoid.

I have lost the travellers express…
I have lost the travellers express cheques I have the numbers and letters of some but not the letters of others. Nice lady on the phone, not the safety net I thought they were.
Feel beat up and fried trying to deal…
Feel beat up and fried trying to deal with customer service. Agents have accents that are sooo heavy. I just can’t understand them!
Seriously-it’s a huge problem! Lack of communication because of language barrier.
I’ve no idea what was said or agreed to or denied- couldn’t understand customer service agent. Amex!!!!! I need real coherent help!! Worried deeply about my account! Thinking of leaving Amex!
ABUSE!!
ABUSE!!! I had a card with a 30k balance for EIGHT YEARS. Paid faithfully. Then one day they randomly dropped my limit to $1000. And refused to fix it. Even after admitting it was an automated system that had done something no rational human would. Then added a $3 charge after l closed and deleted my account. Cost me 150 points on my credit score. BOYCOT AMEX!!
dont bother enrolling in the hotel…
dont bother enrolling in the hotel rewards for Hiton, Marriott or Raddison. You have to enrol in each one through Amex and there are no special rates. its just a scam AND it wastes your time. Expedia had better rates than logging into their pointless portals.
Just another review echoing everyone…
Just another review echoing everyone else.
I’ve had an account going on 10 years. Actually I have three different accounts with Amex. Two of the accounts have zero balances and my reserve card has a balance (less than half of the credit limit). I’ve never paid late and I always pay more than the minimum. I just purchased a flight using my companion ticket and the very next day I get the email advising me to pay $1570 within two days or the will reduce my credit limit!!! Mind you, I have nothing negative on my credit report but for some reason Amex wants to mess with me and apparently many others.
I feel a payoff coming in my spirit and a toss of the card in the drawer until I get my next companion ticket then another switch payoff.
Amex do better. We have too many card choices WITHOUT an annual fee!
I no longer recommend American Express…
I no longer recommend American Express to anyone. While their service used to be excellent, the current level of staff incompetence forced me to close my accounts entirely
What a shitty company Amex has become.
What a shitty company Amex has become.
I've been a cardholder for about 40 years now. This company used to shine. As I now see from other negative reviews, this is no longer the case.
I paid close to $1000 for my card,
They began to demand a document no other card issuing bank demanded.
Despite providing said document, I have not had the use of my card nor for the last three months or more.
No one of consequence to speak to there.
I will not be renewing.
Worst customer service.
Rubbish
I had Amex cards personal and Business 10 cards in total.
The more I got involved the more I felt I should leave so I did.
No regrets! Stay away is my rating here
After using Amex for more than 10 years…
After using Amex for more than 10 years in Singapore, I never expected to cancel my card. Unfortunately, the poor customer service experience left me with no choice. Loyalty means little when customers don’t feel valued.
I completely lost trust in American…
I completely lost trust in American Express after dealing with one dispute.
Since May, I submitted evidence three separate times. Each time, the merchant was given more time to respond and came back with a new explanation, while it felt like the evidence I submitted was barely considered. As long as the merchant provided another response, Amex seemed willing to side with them again.
The whole process dragged on for months, and by the time I finally decided I no longer trusted Amex enough to keep using the card, I was about 35 days past the annual fee refund window. They refused to refund the fee even though part of the reason I waited was because I was still waiting for the dispute process to finish.
I still have another year on my Platinum Card, but I don't plan to put any purchases on it. If I don't feel protected even on a $1 purchase, I don't see a reason to trust the card for anything important.
