Rigid refund policy, even for an unused subscription
I was charged A$99.99 for an annual Strava subscription through Google Play that I didn't mean to take on. I noticed about four weeks later, turned off auto-renewal, and asked for a refund. I hadn't used any of the paid features since the charge.
Strava's support first sent me to Google Play. When Google declined, I went back to Strava, who also refused and sent the same scripted reply twice. Neither said anything about a partial refund for the 11 unused months, or offered another way to resolve it.
No longer fit for purpose
I had been singing the praises of Strava for 13 years, until recently, when I noticed a discrepancy with my all time cycling distance stats. The issue has been exacerbated because I can no longer log onto the online website, although the app works on my iPhone. As Customer Support have declined to respond to any of my e-mails, I have cancelled my subscription.
Would not recommend Strava
When Strava connects and stays connected, it is great. That being said, when it doesn't connect, it is extremely disappointing. Two recent examples. In August, I did a Mammoth March, granted I was out of a service area for part of the hike, but it picked up NONE of it. My Fitbit picked up a portion, but not Strava. More recently, Strava picked up my .85 mile walk home from work. The next day, I did a 16 mile hike. Again, Strava picked up nothing. These are just 2 examples which is why I cancelled my subscription. I will say, I did not have any trouble cancelling my subscription.

Awful.
2 days after accidentally getting billed for a year, and they say no refund possible because I now have full access to all their features. I haven't even used it since getting billed.
F***ing never again.
Komoot is leagues better with just the free option anyways.
Many bugs! Inconsistent, at best.
Very buggy. Quite frustrating really as it has a lot of good qualities. But route building and route recording is hot and miss. It even records your route differently on the app and a desktop browser where you will get different route for the same ride. Not recommended. I now use Apple Watch and AI to record my rides.
worst app EVER!
worst app EVER!, keeps disconnecting and doesnt register rides!!! and now has NOT REGISTERED MY 4 LAST & BIGGEST RIDEs, STRAVA IS SERIOUSLY TRASH
What has happened to Strava.
This is my second review for Strava. Sorry second bad review. This morning I attempted again to get Strava to track my early morning walk. I walked 6 miles, Strava gave up before I got to 3 miles. This used to be one of the best apps going, not any more. Luckily for me I now use a back up app from another company, and that works fime. From now on that back up app, is going to be my primary app.
Another once great product headed in the wrong direction
Used the free version happily for many years until Strava threatened to wipe out years worth of data unless I subscribed. Since I had a good experience and shouldn’t expect free service forever, I signed up.
Mediocre experience since. Can’t keep Apple watch, iPad and phone in synch (never an issue before), wants an emailed code that never comes before I can log in on my iPad, often fails to send a beacon, and has become a vehicle for scammers looking to follow me (which Strava looked into when I responded to its reporting link.
Can’t comment on customer service because I can never figure out how to contact them.
Bottom line: great data recording, if you can find it. Good product that gas deteriorated over time.
Not even 1 star
Not even 1 star — Extremely disappointing and unfair experience
I have never experienced such a disappointing and frustrating situation with an app.
After spending a long time building my profile, recording and keeping my cycling and hiking activities on Strava, following the platform’s rules and investing time in creating an entire ecosystem around my activities, my account was permanently suspended and I was accused of “Inauthentic Behavior.”
The accusations made against me are completely unfounded.
What makes this even worse is that I had to wait more than two weeks to receive a response, only to be given a generic list of serious accusations without being told what specific activity, post, photo, or action supposedly violated the rules — which is exactly what I had been asking for since I first opened my support ticket.
Imagine spending so much time trusting a platform with your activity history and tracks, building your profile and contributing to its community, only to have everything taken away without a clear explanation — and then being accused of things you have never done.
I post photos from my cycling and hiking activities, including mountain views, rivers, and places I visit. How can something as simple as a photo of a mountain or a river from a genuine sporting activity possibly constitute “Inauthentic Behavior”?
This is not how a platform should treat its users.
The amount of time wasted, the lack of transparency, the extremely slow response, and the fact that I still haven’t been given a specific explanation for what I supposedly did wrong are simply unacceptable.
I spent a significant amount of time building my profile and creating an entire history of my activities on Strava, trusting the platform to preserve that data. To have it removed like this, while simultaneously being accused of serious misconduct without being shown any specific evidence, is incredibly frustrating and unfair.
I expected much better from Strava. This experience has completely destroyed my trust in the platform.
After being a paid member for a year…
After being a paid member for a year and using the app faithfully for over three years, I'm now unfortunately going to have to delete it! All because I gave a member a compliment. We are in a really sad place right now if this is what constitutes 'harassment.'

If I could give Strava zero stars
If I could give Strava zero stars, I would.
Once you log out of the app, for whatever reason, it becomes an absolute nightmare trying to get back in. You have to wait for a verification code, which can arrive at any time up to 3 days and then you have just five minutes to use it.
How is that supposed to work when you're out cycling, potentially at high speed, and simply trying to access your account?
To make matters worse, none of the codes I received actually worked. And rather than making things easier and helping customers, the support process seems to make the whole situation even more frustrating.
For an app that is supposed to support people's health, fitness and mental wellbeing, this is incredibly disappointing.
My advice would be: look at alternative apps that actually value their customers and provide proper support when things go wrong.
Strava seriously needs to rethink its login system and its customer service.
Useless for Serious Training
I'd been training very hard and made a special trip to the mountains where I planned to gather some baseline stats at altitude. The app stopped working and I missed out on the data I'd been hoping to get.
Two weeks later no response from support, not even to acknowledge my initial email. I can't rely on Strava.
My companion who pays for the app had a completely different error, and was also unable to track himself! He didn't contact support he just cancelled his subscription.
Strava is basically useless seeing as you can't rely on it. If you're at the point where you're number-crunching your fitness my experience is that you need something else.
I wonder if they outsourced to AI or cheaper developers?

Paid to upgrade my Strava account four days ago and it still hasn’t activated. I’ve contacted support three times and only get the same generic “someone will get back to you” reply. Still waiting, still no upgrade — really poor service.

Tried to cancel/pause subscription in the app. Was instructed to go to strava.com to manage subscription. In strava.com was bounced directly back to app! No option to cancel. Only to modify subscription, with options to modify to a higher cost plan. Round in circles. Only when I removed app was I then able to find the tiny font hyperlink on strava.com to cancel. It was unnecessarily time consuming and awkward. This is clearly deliberate to encourage you to give up and remain subscribing. Not impressed.
THIEVES!!
THIEVES!!! I installed the app and it's says 30 days free membership. I said no harm in trying and see if I like the app. I was charged AFTER TW0 DAYS for a whole year!!! 2 days. I didn't even get a chance to use and see if I like it. They have stolen my money and won't give it back!!!! Bloody thieves. I will never purchase again.

Strava gets a -5 star review and -5 star rating for its abominable customer service - Strava double debited my account - taking double the amount for my subscription - 6 weeks to reply after having to chase asking ridiculously for me to say how!!! And within 2 days Strava emailed me saying no reply assuming matter resolved. Don’t allow Strava to direct debit your account.
Great app but customer service/support…
Great app but customer service/support is terrible. I’ve been locked out of my account for two months, but I’m still paying for it. Plsssssss if anyone who works for Strava can they help me! SMS (save my strava)

My husband was walking the dog when a group from Strava went by; shortly before 9:00 a.m. 7/17/2026. This was moving north on Vinson drive about a quarter mile north of the intersection of Vinson/Stassney, Austin Tx. He was on the sidewalk with about a 5 foot separation between the side walk and the street. The dog had pooped in the grass just as the cyclists started passing, so he and the dog waited quietly for the large group to pass. One of the cyclists, a black male, yells: "What you looking at! Clean up that Shit!!!" Apparently Strava attracts loud mouth jerks.
I’m so disappointed
I’m so disappointed. I wish I’d read reviews before paying for an annual subscription that I can’t access at all. I’ve lost count of the emails to customer service that remain unanswered.
I really don’t quite know what to do to get a refund or access my subscribed membership- which is what I’d really like.
But I’d advise anyone, not to take out an annual subscription. Perhaps try a month. See how you go. Then decide whether to extend. My issue doesn’t seem resolvable re my account, and I think the money is lost too.

You have destroyed your own concept by beefing too greedy even to paying customers- so now I can’t easily sync my routes as be fore with my devices.
This is the deaths of subscription customers when you become way to greedy!
