Malte Marten Method Reviews

I am very happy with the courses. Within a week I was able to play some patterns and be creative with it. I bought the Beginner course, D Kurd Scale course and eventually the Fundamentals course because I really want to play and learn more. The courses are easy to understand. It is nice to look the video’s again and they are not too long. I already have 45 years of experience in music, I play keyboard and piano and learned to play electric drums so that helps. But for people without experience it is easy to understand. I love the music of Malte Marten and his method.

Loving Malte's programs. Easy to digest, gradually liberating and I've make amazing progress as a player. Would highly recommend to anyone looking to improve as a handpan player.

Julie and the team from Malte Marten Method has made my handpan learning journey a breeze. Questions were answered promptly and professionally. Great experience dealing with the team!

Absolutely wonderful courses. Step by step an actual learning followed by actual progress!
Short lessons, wonderfully explained. Thank you So much!

I am very new to the world of the handpan - in fact I am very new to the world of music making in general. I have always been incredibly intimidated by it all. The stories that I have been telling myself for over 40 years - "I am not musical, I cannot hold a tune, music is not for me" have been very strong. I am only a couple of months into my hand pan journey and I can already see these stories dissolving. Malte is a beautiful and calming presence, his voice and music are balm to my soul. It never feels like a chore, or something that I will only enjoy when I am actually "good" at it. I enjoy every session, I am hearing music differently. Its doing something to my body and soul. Eternally grateful .

Hi Malte! I wanted to leave a quick note to say how much I love your handpan classes. I don't have any background in music, so I wasn't sure if I'd be able to keep up. But your lessons are incredibly easy to understand and follow! You make learning so enjoyable and relaxing. Thank you for creating such a welcoming space for absolute beginners!

Good lessons. I like the idea behind it: to give you enough playing material and techniques to start playing your own music. I did the Handpan Fundamentals and will follow the teacher training in a few months. A really big plus is the community. It's very supportive. And every month there's a challenge and a raffle for the people who joined the challenge. It makes you step out of your comfort zone and do and play things you normally wouldn't. That enriched me a lot!

I already had some experience playing the handpan when I joined MMM two and a half years ago – and I can say that the MMM concept has definitely taken me to another level! Today I can play much more freely and creatively. I understand much better how to create the framework for an improvisation (or composition). Practicing and playing is much more enjoyable and has become much more expressive. Over time, I've created more and more of my own pieces instead of just playing compositions from a tutorial.

I had never learned an instrument before in my life and feel so enriched by making music, which now accompanies me every day. The welcoming and accepting atmosphere that Malte and the entire community create helps enormously in simply enjoying the learning process. A huge thank you to Malte and his team for everything! Joining MMM handpan fundamentals was the best decision I've made since I got a handpan.

I recently came across a video of someone playing a unique instrument with a unique sound and got hooked straight away in that I wanted to learn to play it called the Handpan. I’m an older man, I know nothing music, and never learnt to play an instrument. But this instrument has gripped me. I started to look into what Handpan to get for beginners and online learning courses via Google. I got myself a Handpan, not an expensive one but a good one and came across the Malte Marten Method online courses. I looked into Malte’s website and chose to do the free mini class course first which actually gets you playing a tune more or less straight away. Since I completed that course I purchased the Beginner Journey which I have nearly finished. I have now for the next step of my journey purchased the Handpan Fundamentals course and so looking forward to starting that. There were a few reasons for me in choosing the MMM but first and foremost was listening to Malte Marten and looking at his teaching methods, the calmness in his voice and relaxed manner is captivating. There are many courses available within the MMM set up of which I intend to take advantage of in my quest for the first time ever to play an instrument. The lessons by Malte are well presented, delivered in a soft, calm tone with a smile and most importantly fun. The MMM team offer lots of support, alongside the online community which is pack with talented students who are also on their journey all open to give encouragement and their support. The MMM site is packed with information, tips and other resources which makes it a great choice for choosing your journey with learning the Handpan along with it being very well priced to make it more assessable for all people. I’m a couple of months into my journey, I’m what I would say a slow learner, but so much fun and every time you play your Handpan you will surprise yourself. Thank you Malte & the MMM team 🙏🏻❤️

Malte is the best! His courses make you better understand your instrument and be able to find you own style playing it.

I bought my Handpan many years ago… I heard someone playing it when we were on a holiday trip through Europe and I fell in love with its magic. I made an appointment with someone building these instruments as soon as we were back. I headed to I looked for a teacher and took lessons… Yatao came across my way when I searched the internet… and I didn’t think much about money but entered a weeks course…. What an experience…. somehow it was all surrounded by music… a moment… lunch break… walking through the garden with my coffee… through lots of green … and sunlight filtering through the leaves…I heard someone playing… it was magic! It was Malte … sitting there on a bench, just playing and enjoying and maybe not knowing that he creates a mystic world for me and a balance which I felt inside of me … I sat down in a bit of a distance and…. listened.
I continued playing and taking lessons … my teacher moved away… offered lessons once-a-month in a group…. the louder the others played the more I began to become silent….
I stopped playing.
My life became complicated and I tried to play once but put it away immediately….
Now after two years I took my Handpan in my lap… and it felt good… and I will start again
Thanks to Malte for creating this feeling while listening to him years ago… without knowing 😉 and for his beginner class which is easy to follow and for me creating the desire to continue.

Excellent customer support and a great experience

I purchased the Handpan Fundamentals course and initially had a technical issue where the course didn’t appear in my account after payment. I contacted their support team, and Julie was incredibly kind and helpful throughout the whole process.

Later, I also received a 20% discount code through an email survey shortly after my purchase. I asked whether it might be possible to apply it retroactively, and they kindly refunded the difference, which I really appreciated.

Everything was handled warmly, professionally, and fairly. I’m very happy with both the courses and the support I received.

Now it’s time to practice my handpan! 😊

I experienced a valuable learnings in the basics of understanding my handpan to start performing my own melodies, transitions and rythms, to feel relaxed every night before go to sleep, and in my meditation journeys. Malten has a teaching mood I enjoy a lot because is very intuitive and practical for the first lesson till the end. For sure I Will continue learning from him and very GRATEFUL for experience this.

The videos and instruction are top notch. Easy to follow, great assignments and I quickly was making music on my hardpan with very little effort. I like that he talks about the feeling of the music vs being so "rote". Highly recommend.

Your support team is awesome. I can't describe how supportive you guys are. Many thanks to you Malte for gathering such a team. Big thumbs up 👍

So far I am really enjoying the video lessons, e-book, as well as the online community forum that comes with the Fundamentals course.

I came into this after trying to learn from different tutorials that I found on Youtube. I made some progress, enough that I felt enthusiastic enough to actually take a real course and make more progress.

This course is a good fit for me because I can do the lessons when I have a little time. It is giving me confidence and the e-book is helpful and well put together.

The forum and online community as well as Zoom get togethers, are helpful if you appreciate having a community who shares the interest of the handpan!

I would like to thank Malte and Julie (who moderates the forum) for helping me learn. I hope to make more progress.

About a year and a half ago, while searching for calming meditation music, I discovered Malte Marten's handpan recordings. I started listening to them every day at work, quietly in the background, and gradually became fascinated by the instrument itself. The desire to try playing a handpan kept growing until, one month ago, I finally gave myself the perfect birthday gift: a Yatao handpan together with the D Kurd Scale Course.

The course has been an incredible help in getting to know my instrument. Malte has a remarkable gift for explaining everything in such a clear and accessible way. Even though I had absolutely no previous experience playing any musical instrument, after just one month I can already play around ten different rhythms reasonably well.

I have also watched lessons from other handpan teachers, but for me Malte is truly exceptional—not only because of the clarity of his teaching, but also because of the calmness, kindness, and genuine warmth he brings to every lesson.

Thank you so much! I'm excited to continue this beautiful journey of personal growth, with the handpan as my companion.

The handpan tutorials are visually very clear. I have been playing 18 months now after doing the Fundamentals and the D Kurd scale course. You can always come back to them and refresh your knowledge ay any time, which I find so helpful. Love it. Can't recommend more! I love being in the community and taking part in the monthly challenges as well. So good to really progress by uploading videos of yourself playing. My confidence has truly grown.

Very satisfied and trustable , I get my refund less than 12 hours after request .

It has been one of my best decision in my life to join Malte Marte Method. I love this community. There are many-many members here who push me to my best. I've learnt from them not only how to play handpan but also how I can be a better person.
