Can you say EXPLOITATION?!
Sincerely, fellow ESL teachers, don't waste your time.
1. You are provided with substandard teaching slides, frequently containing gross errors that make you question whether the people compiling them have even a basic command of the English language. Added to this, try to teach 56 slides to 16 students with very mixed language ability levels within one hour. Yes, they lie to you in the beginning, promising no more than 5-6 students max. per lesson. As any experienced teacher would, you try to focus on the most relevant slides. Even then, good luck.
2. Many other (former) tutors talk about working 6 days/week. In my case, it was 7 days/week. Indicating my availability had no impact on the haphazard assignment of classes. It's a "we own you now" mentality displayed by the so-called management. You'd better give up on having any sort of life outside of this 'school'. Forget running errands, picking up your kids or simply relaxing in a café with a well-deserved cappuccino. Unforeseen emergencies or illness? Hold your breath while 'management' musters any empathy or common human decency.
3. Do note: You will have random classes assigned to you without prior notice or even checking if you're available, for which you will be severely financially penalised when you don't show up to teach them (mainly because you never received any communication that they are now suddenly in your schedule and/or due to prior, conflicting teaching engagements or other commitments you have made). Don't for a minute assume that your schedule at the beginning of the week will be the same one on an ongoing basis as each day passes. Tip: Make screenshots! (Your only chance of proving your case.)
4. Communication with 'management' is virtually non-existent, and when you do get any responses, they're clearly from AI bots and/or infuriatingly dismissive. Believe your students when they share with you their frustrations about the lack of communication and being manhandled by management and student recruitment. As the only available "face of the company", be prepared for these students to take out their exasperation on yóú. Absurdly, you frequently find yourself defending a 'school' that blatantly doesn't have your back nor respects you in any way. If it weren't so debilitating, it would be laugh-out-loud funny.
5. One of the biggest red flags: invasion of tutor data privacy with video, picture and audio material being recorded and processed for various unknown purposes without our prior written, informed consent!
Most every ESL teacher eventually doesn't walk away from Edusogno/EasyPeasyFluent - they RUN! And usually without getting paid for their last month(s) of teaching - no wonder as to their extremely high staff turnover rate.
The 5-star reviews here and on sites like Glassdoor are dangerously misleading. If anything, from the tutors' perspective, the 1-star ratings provide the truth about working for Edusogno S.r.L.
Feel free to dismiss our warnings, but steel yourself for a potentially traumatising, real-world life lesson about choosing your employers with greater care.
