Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Considering 65 reviews, most reviewers were let down by their experience overall. Customers frequently describe being unexpectedly charged large sums of money for pre-existing vehicle damages, minor scratches, or missing items that were already noted upon collection. People also mention dealing with unresponsive communication, unhelpful customer service, and stubborn disputes when trying to contest these unfair extra fees. Though some customers faced significant challenges, a few reviewers mentioned that staff members were friendly and the pickup process was smooth. Others also noted that compact cars were fun to drive and replacement vehicles could be provided relatively quickly when issues arose.

Extremely disappointing experience

Extremely disappointing experience – no responsibility taken at any stage

My experience with Enterprise Switzerland was disappointing from beginning to end.

I had booked and prepaid a specific vehicle directly with Enterprise and provided my flight details. When my flight was cancelled, I tried four times to call the telephone number stated on my Enterprise booking confirmation during normal business hours. I could not get through to anyone.

When I eventually arrived at Zurich Airport with two small children late at night, Enterprise had already given my reserved vehicle to someone else. I was left with the choice of paying considerably more for a BMW or taking another vehicle. Before accepting the BMW, I specifically asked twice whether it had at least as much luggage space as the vehicle I had originally booked. I was assured that it did. This turned out to be incorrect. I therefore paid more money for a vehicle that was actually less suitable for my family.

Enterprise initially even claimed that I had booked through a third party. Only after I challenged this did they acknowledge in writing that I had booked directly with Enterprise and prepaid the full rental.

The problems did not stop there. The replacement vehicle later suffered an electrical failure while I was driving on the Autobahn with my two young children. The car went into emergency mode and was limited to around 30 km/h. I managed to leave the motorway and contacted the roadside assistance number provided by Enterprise. Enterprise later confirmed in writing that contacting Roadside Assistance was the correct thing to do and acknowledged that the vehicle had suffered an unexpected electrical breakdown.

Despite this, Enterprise subsequently charged me CHF 350 for the roadside assistance because I had not purchased their optional Roadside Assistance Protection. The problem was an electrical fault with their vehicle – not something caused by me. The roadside assistance invoice itself described the incident as “Elektrik”.

Throughout the entire process, I felt that Enterprise made very little effort to find a reasonable solution. They did not compensate me for the vehicle they had given away, the incorrect information about luggage capacity, the expensive upgrade, the unusable telephone number on their own booking confirmation or the disruption caused by the breakdown.

Instead, after all of this, I was presented with another CHF 350 charge because their vehicle broke down.

I have repeatedly tried to resolve the matter directly with Enterprise and provided them with detailed explanations and documentation. At no point did I feel that they genuinely tried to meet me halfway or take responsibility for the overall customer experience.

I have rented cars many times before, but this has been one of the poorest rental experiences I have had. Based on how Enterprise handled both the original rental problems and the subsequent breakdown, I would be very reluctant to rent from Enterprise Switzerland again.

This company needs to be investigated…

This company needs to be investigated by the police and the Switzerland government ASAP!!! They are stealing money from customers by submitting fraudulent and erroneous damages claims after the customer returns the car. The damages were there BEFORE the customer drove the car and they know this and do not care. They are scamming people. INVESTIGATE THIS COMPANY IMMEDIATELY SWITZERLAND GOVERNMENT!!! PERFORM A FULL INVESTIGATION!!!!

Charge for damage that will never be repaired

The car rental went ok until we landed at home to an email about some damage to one of the wheels, in fairness it was our fault. The problem was that they then charged £389 to fix the very light damage, but after a follow up email it was clear that their “internal matrix” didn’t need it to be repaired at this time. So I have been charge for a repair that will never happen, a total scam. Really wish I had seen these reviews before hand, lesson learnt for next time!!! Zürich Airport!

Be very careful with this company

Be very careful with this company. We returned the car after 4 days, then a week later they emailed us claiming we had caused a tiny scratch and charged us around £600.

What concerns me even more is that after looking through other reviews, I noticed many other customers reporting similar experiences with unexpected damage charges. It makes you seriously question whether customers are being charged huge amounts for damage they didn’t cause.

We strongly dispute this charge and are demanding evidence that we actually caused the damage.

Extremely disappointing experience from…

Extremely disappointing experience from start to finish.

The first car I was given had serious tire problems and did not feel safe to drive, so I had to go through the inconvenience of returning it. Even then, the car was put through damage control as though I might somehow have been responsible for the faulty tire, and I was made to feel as though the company was doing me a favour by not charging me.

The replacement car also had visible tire issues and existing body damage.

Now I am being accused of causing a chip in the windscreen. The only photograph they have provided is ridiculously unclear, and I have disputed the damage and asked for proper photographs. I also have my own photograph from the day of the rental showing a visible mark on the windscreen.

What makes this even more unacceptable is that the company actively advises customers to photograph the vehicle carefully at collection, yet when you actually use those photographs to dispute one of their claims, they do not even bother to respond.

You cannot get through to customer service by phone, my emails regarding the dispute have gone unanswered, and instead of reviewing the situation properly, they are simply taking €500 from my card.

This is an appalling way to treat customers. I would strongly advise anyone renting from this company to photograph absolutely everything — the windscreen, tires and every part of the bodywork — but unfortunately, based on my experience, even having photographic evidence does not guarantee that anyone will actually listen to you.

I certainly would not use this company again.

Avoid at all costs

Avoid at all costs.

I should have checked here before renting with them. Similar to a lot of other reviews, I rented a car off them, took photos on collection, queried one scuff but was told it was outside of their 'circle marker' which they base damage from. On returning the car, the person picked up on this scuff, claimed it wasnt in any of the evidence I have and marked it down. My credit card has since been charged and after several back and forth with them, they are refusing to accept. I dont have any issues if the damage was genuine, but reading several other reviews, this seems to be a common practice from them. I have now been told there is nothing further to be done and if I want to take it further I will have to go externally to challenge it via small courts claim.

The practices of this company need investigating asap as its clear this is a common practice to profit from.

Horrific experience so far, avoid !

Horrific experience so far. DO NOT USE ENTERPRISE SWITZERLAND. They are trying to charge me £347 for a scratch on the roof of the car that existed prior to pick up as confirmed by their own check out report.

Do not trust them and do not use them no matter how ‘nice’ the staff may come across in person. Evidently from the 1.2 star rating they have within Switzerland, they should really be out of business due to such appalling customer service.

The lied to me from the get go

The lied to me from the get go. I had a rental with national for a golf and they told me they didn’t have that car anymore because I was 3 hours late picking up. Our flight was delayed getting in. They over charged us for everything from telling us it would be cheaper to get the fuel from them, that was lie 1. Then they lied and did not put the rental under my national club number and now I can’t claim the 760chk rental on my account. They then lied that I could not use my free days because I needed to add that in at the beginning just to find out that they switched my rental from a national rental to an enterprise rental. DO NOT USE THESE GUYS THEY ARE A RIP OFF.

Within 30 seconds of checking the car the scumbag working at enterprise geneva airport had found alleged scuffs which had already been declared on the (extensive) list of pre disclosed damage prior to the rental. We didn't cause it - they know we didn't. But if you don't take out their insurance how are they supposed to make a living? Now holding a 1500 chf deposit and wont respond to emails. Criminal. Absolute bare faced scam. Never, ever use them. I'm sure we will get a charge - I wonder if they will use this money to repair the six scrapes dotted around the car?

Do not rent a car from them

We rented a car from Enterprise in June, and they charged us a 50 CHF administration fee for each of two alleged traffic violations.

It is now August, and we have still not received a single traffic ticket by mail or email. We have contacted multiple Enterprise email addresses asking for information, but every attempt has been met with automated replies. No one has responded, no one has provided any details, and there has been zero customer support.

Enterprise had no problem charging our credit card immediately, but when it came to helping us understand what we were charged for, they completely disappeared. We are now forced to investigate the situation ourselves to avoid potential late fees or additional penalties because Enterprise refuses to communicate.

This level of customer service is unacceptable. If you are going to charge customers for traffic violations, the bare minimum is to provide the relevant documentation and respond to legitimate inquiries. Taking people's money and then going completely silent is unprofessional, frustrating, and deeply disappointing. I expected far better from a company of Enterprise's size and reputation.

Avoid Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Zurich…

Avoid Enterprise Rent-A-Car at Zurich Airport at all costs. This has been, without question, the worst car rental experience I have ever had.
They have lost not only a customer but also two companies that regularly rent cars there, as well as an individual who will spread the word about the company's poor management.
After returning the vehicle, I was accused of causing damage that I firmly dispute. I immediately provided timestamped photographs, a detailed timeline, and all the evidence available to support my position. Despite this, my claim was rejected. What is most concerning is that I repeatedly asked Enterprise to provide objective evidence proving that the damage occurred while the vehicle was in my possession. They did not provide the evidence I requested. Instead, they simply maintained their position and closed the case. As a customer, I expected a fair and transparent investigation based on verifiable facts. Instead, I received generic responses without addressing the key questions I raised. If you decide to rent a car here, please protect yourself: * Take hundreds of high-resolution photos before leaving the parking area. * Record a complete 360° video of the vehicle. * Photograph every wheel, bumper, door edge, roof, windshield, mirrors and interior. * Repeat the entire process immediately before returning the vehicle. * Keep all timestamps, GPS records and documents. Without this level of documentation, you may find yourself in the same situation I experienced. Customer trust should be built on transparency and evidence. Unfortunately, that was not my experience with Enterprise at Zurich Airport. Until this matter is handled fairly and supported by objective evidence, I cannot recommend this location to anyone. There are many other rental companies at Zurich Airport that deserve your business far more than this one. I hope this review helps other travellers avoid going through the same stressful experience.

The company’s stance is that they are in the right even though there are photos showing the scratches at the time of pickup—and they’ve told me that if I want to pursue the matter further, I have to go through channels outside of Enterprise. It’s pathetic management. If I were the CEO, I’d fire the people in charge of customer service and review the situation not just because of our case, but because of the company’s consistently poor image, which results in a shorter customer journey compared to other companies. It’s a shame how it’s being handled.

Faulty first car. Staff completely unapologetic

Our first car was faulty and when we returned to the airport with our car (which was full of our luggage as we were en route to our holidy), they had no issue giving us a new vehicle but did nothing to show an apology for the inconvenice. Additionally, we left the rear sun shade from our original car at home so that all our luggage would fit.
When I moved over our luggage to the replacement vehicle, I asked for them to keep the sunshade as we have no room for it and it was only due to them giving us a faulty original car that we were now stuck with one. They refused to keep it for the duration of our rental, thus showing how sorry they really were the inconvenience caused to us!

Systematic fraudster's

Hired car from Geneva airport which they said was in perfect condition, on examination it was not so took photo's all round. When we returned the car they stated we had scratch an alloy wheel despite it being on a time stamped photo when we collected the car. Two weeks later the charged 440chf for damage they said was 320chf despite not even completing their own internal investigation. I wonder how many other people have been charged for the scratched alloy? they need investigating by the Swiss police.

Excellent Service from Isa & an Amazing MINI Experience! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐rience with Alamo in Zurich was…

Our experience with Alamo in Zurich was excellent from start to finish. We were assisted by Isa on Thursday, 2 June, and she was absolutely wonderful. She was friendly, welcoming, professional, and took the time to make sure everything was clear. Her positive attitude made the pickup process smooth and enjoyable.

Isa gave us a MINI Sport "Go-Kart" Edition, and it turned out to be one of the highlights of our trip. Although it's a compact car, it was incredibly fun to drive. It was fast, responsive, flexible, and very easy to handle, whether driving through the city or on the highway. The "go-kart" driving feel really lives up to its name and made every journey enjoyable.

We absolutely loved the whole experience with Alamo. Great customer service, a fantastic car, and an unforgettable driving experience. Thank you, Isa, for making our rental so special—we would happily rent from Alamo again!

Do not rent a car from Enterprise cars

There was only one area of damage on the vehicle. However, the damage assessment was greatly exaggerated, claiming that multiple components had been damaged, which was simply not true.

Ironically, most of Enterprise's own inspection photographs clearly show that these parts were not broken or damaged. Despite this evidence, the incorrect damage assessment was never reviewed or corrected.

Even more disappointing, Customer Services refused to carry out any independent review or reassessment of the case.

I am now looking for the appropriate regulatory authority or consumer protection body in Switzerland to file a formal complaint. If anyone has experience with this process or can recommend the correct organisation, I would greatly appreciate your advice.

Poor Service

Poor Service, Misleading information. They will not reply to my emails. I have had an account with them for 10 years and they have went downhill so much. I just just tried to close my account and even that is difficult. I can see by the other messages that they don't follow up on here either. That's a shame, i will need to look for another rental company.

Enterprise Zurich will try to SCAM you

They will try to SCAM you. My friends and I hired x2 vehicles from Enterprise Zurich. They will try to sell you the pre-paid fuel option. Myself and the other driver specifically asked the sales counter staff on three separate occasions if unused fuel is refunded at the end of the trip. We were verbally told on each occasion that unused fuel IS refunded. The counter staff deliberately misinformed us as unused fuel is not refunded (I should have read the small print but instead decided to trust the sales staff). I have tried to get an explanation as to why the staff deliberately misled us and I am now being ignored by customer services. In the interest of fairness, the rest of our experience with this company was actually very good, which actually makes the whole situation even more disappointing

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Geneva Airport - Inspection Failure is now my Psychological Burden

Enterprise Rent-A-Car Geneva Airport notifying me of a potential a damage to my rental for vanity mirror damage that was (1) pre-existing, (2) not documented in my check-out report, and (3) reported by me in writing before I even returned the vehicle. Interior vanity mirrors are not a standard inspection item and were never shown to me at pickup. Despite clear email evidence that I flagged this proactively, they are pursuing charges. Be warned: this company will charge you for anything not documented at pickup, even items they themselves didn’t check.

Zero Excess coverage ignored — tried to charge for damages anyway

Rented a vehicle from Enterprise Zurich Airport in April 2026. Despite having explicitly purchased Zero Excess protection, Enterprise proceeded to claim CHF 1,476.86 for a minor accidental scuff — completely disregarding the coverage I had paid for.
Multiple emails, two unanswered support tickets, and several phone attempts with no response were needed before the dispute was finally resolved. No customer should have to fight this hard to enforce a protection they have already paid for.
Document everything and be prepared to push back firmly.
