Autoscout Direct - Unreliable process, no protection for sellers

Unreliable process, misleading standards, and no protection for sellers

My experience with AutoScout24 Direct exposed several structural problems that make the service risky and unreliable for private sellers.

AutoScout24 Direct advertises a negotiation‑free, professional, and stress‑free selling process. In reality, the dealer assigned to my auction attempted to renegotiate the agreed price, claimed damages that were objectively false, and behaved in a way that clearly violated the platform’s own rules. Since sellers cannot choose or vet the dealer, AutoScout24 is fully responsible for partner quality — yet the platform offered no meaningful protection when the dealer acted improperly.

When the dealer refused to complete the transaction, I was left with a deregistered car that could not legally be driven and additional costs. AutoScout24 provided no support or mitigation for this situation.

When I raised a formal complaint, support was slow, unstructured, and lacked clear guidance. Despite the failure being caused entirely by the dealer they selected, AutoScout24 refused to refund the CHF 99 auction fee.

Worse, when I prepared a new auction, AutoScout24 insisted that I include the dealer’s false damage claims in the listing. This delayed the relisting for almost two weeks and created a situation where the platform required me to publish information I knew to be incorrect.

After losing significant time and trust, I abandoned AutoScout24 Direct and sold my car privately — quickly, transparently, and without any of the issues created by the platform.
Despite informing AutoScout24 in writing that the car had already been sold, the platform still went ahead and published my auction announcement, demonstrating a concerning lack of coordination and attention to customer communication.

AutoScout24 Direct may be a good concept, but my experience revealed major weaknesses in dealer oversight, customer protection, listing accuracy, and support responsiveness.
Based on this experience, I cannot recommend the service.

From a buyer's perspective

From a buyer's perspective, the site is very pleasant, well-organized, and offers great features. As a seller, however, it’s a total nightmare: extremely expensive because SMG Marketplace holds a monopoly (Tutti, Ricardo, Anibis, and autoscout24.ch). When technical issues arise that only the helpdesk can resolve due to admin restrictions, it often takes several days to get an answer. Nevertheless, due to their dominant market position, there’s simply no way around them :(.

Don't use AutoScout24 Schweiz

Is this the best site to sell cars on in Switzerland.. I have tried it and there isn't any support provided,
- no statistics on views.
- they don't forward emails from potential buyers.
- thy don't inform you when your ad expires.
- it is very expensive for what you get.
