APOLLO is making insurance effortless for individuals and small businesses. As one of Canada’s leading InsurTechs, we deliver a people-first buying experience through time-saving technology and a deep understanding of the communities we serve. Our customers can buy online in minutes, and receive their policy documents instantly. Headquartered in Vancouver, Canada, with remote employees nationwide, APOLLO was co-founded in 2018 by CEO, Jeff McCann, and VP of Marketing & PR, David Dyck in response to what they saw as a troubling issue. The insurance industry had not caught up to the digital age. In fact, it was well behind. Their vision was simple, yet groundbreaking: to provide brokers easier access to insurance products by integrating technology into the supply chain. Not long after, in April of 2019, APOLLO launched our proprietary technology – the Exchange – offering a portal for insurance brokers to quote, bind, and transact Canada’s largest selection of online insurance products. Since then, APOLLO has added to our online distribution model through embedded partnerships and our own in-house agency arm, allowing us to capitalize on the scalability of digitized insurance products. Today, APOLLO is now one of Canada’s leading online insurance providers and winner of 16 awards, including Digital Innovator of the Year.

I was charged multiple times

I was charged multiple times, and an account was also created using my two cards without my authorization. I’m now not sure how I can get my money back or ensure that I won’t be charged a cancellation fee for a service I never agreed to.

Started a quote

Started a quote, got to payment for the quote and got charged although receiving a POS error. Never got an email verification that my quote had been processed, and when attempting to log in I wasn't registered with the website. Collected my money instantly along with card details, but never began my account. Very shady.

Very disappointing experience with…

Very disappointing experience with Apollo Insurance.

I would strongly recommend that everyone be very careful before getting home, car, or other insurance through Apollo Insurance.

At the beginning, I was told the insurance would be around $13–$17 per month, but after everything was set up, I ended up being charged almost $100 per month. This was completely different from what I understood when I first discussed the insurance.

When I tried to cancel the policy, the process was extremely frustrating. I had to make multiple requests, and I felt like I was being given excuses instead of getting a straightforward cancellation. I was also concerned about additional charges during the cancellation process.

Overall, this has been a very frustrating and disappointing experience. I would strongly recommend carefully checking the actual price, terms, and cancellation process before purchasing insurance from Apollo.

Based on my experience, I would not recommend Apollo Insurance.

Scam with unauthorized payments charged to your account

The insurance terms feel really fraudulent. It turns out they’ve tucked an automatic‑renewal clause somewhere on their website, and they don’t highlight it when you first purchase the policy. As a result, your plan renews for another full year without clear notice, and if you try to cancel afterward, they charge a surprisingly large fee.

I've had peanut butter with more coverage.

Difficult to determine if this company is legitimate. Their approach was unsolicited, which I felt was a red flag. Once they had my contact details, I was subjected to a stream of emails urging me to buy their policy or upload copies of my existing policy from another provider as proof of coverage. But to do that, I first had to accept their terms and conditions.
It seems unethical to be forced into a contract with this organization when you are not dealing with them. Another red flag.
After their arbitrary expiry date passes, they ramp up the pressure with emails that read, "Important: Your Proof of Tenant Insurance Has Expired."
So far, they dont return phone calls or emails, so I have to wonder if they would actually provide any coverage if I tried to file a claim. Yet another red flag.
A Google search on this outfit returns the following AI description: "APOLLO Insurance (APOLLO Insurance Solutions Ltd.) is a privately held Canadian digital insurance platform co-founded by Jeff McCann (CEO) and David Dyck (CMO) alongside initial co-founders Justin Hamade and Drew Green. It is backed by strategic minority investors including Definity Financial Corporation, Liberty Mutual, and Trisura Group."
I can't find any contact details for Jeff or David, or Justin or Drew. Still, I did notice a disclaimer: "We've partnered with Gallagher, one of Canada's leading insurance brokers, to provide insurance designed for businesses and business professionals. Get professional liability, general liability, and/or contents insurance designed specifically for your profession." Perhaps this is just a brokerage website re-brokering your policy through an endless stream of other brokers to find the lowest possible price. Fair enough, but you have to wonder if your policy might have the lowest possible coverage as well.
Can you hear those flags flapping in the breeze? Buyer beware.

We got bed bugs in our apartment due to…

We got bed bugs in our apartment due to nothing we did ourselves. We've been living in the apartment for 4 months, and around 3 months in we started seeing bed bugs. We notified are superintendents and we are now on our fourth spray which they do every other week. We've been living out of bags with minimal clothes to wear. Everything had to be washed and put away in storage containers stashed on our balcony. Now 4 years ago I spent over $1,200 on a memory foam mattress for my bad back. I am on disability because of my back and because of the surgeries I've had on my back. The only reason I was able to buy that mattress was because of a gift of some cash from a relative. I called Apollo to find out how to go about covering this because so far they have not been able to get rid of the bed bugs and I have a funny feeling I'm going to have to throw this mattress out. Apollo informed me they do not cover anything to do with bed bugs. I am 55 years old and I've been living in apartments my whole life. All the other things that Apollo told me they do cover I have never run into but this is the third time in my life. I've run into bed bugs due to nothing of my own doing. Someone else has brought them into the building and they cling on to your feet and end up in your own apartment. And now me and my roommate I've been suffering for 2 months living like animals. And I'm going to end up having to throw a mattress with no funds to replace it. So that means the most I can afford is maybe an inflatable mattress from Canadian Tire. Which I'm sure will do wonders for my bad back, That's sarcasm. Bed bugs are the most common things that happen in apartment buildings in Hamilton, Ontario. This should be covered by Apollo insurance. All the clothes can be washed but you can't wash a mattress nor can you wash a couch. Which is also probably going to have to get thrown out, with no funds to replace it. This is not right. I pay $26 a month out of my ODSP funds for insurance that is mandatory. Yet they don't cover the most common things that would happen in apartment. That is taking advantage of people, not only people living on a fixed income but all people living in a apartment buildings. This needs to be fixed, bed bugs need to be covered. I'm going to be stuck sleeping on a hard floor or an air mattress. And still I have to pay my insurance monthly. How is that fair to me and the many others this effects?

Unauthorized payment taken from my account.

I am a senior on a limited income
Appollo took their regular payment on the 5th. No problem. They also took an extra $15 because of a missed payment.
I have never missed a payment. When attempting to resolve the issue and get the refund of $15. I was told "oh we can't do any about that. It's the systems fault. Nobody gets a refund." When you have a limited amount of money, that's 3 meals for me. I clarified what she said, she said yes. I said I'd be canceling my policy. She hung up on me. All customer service has been a nightmare. Cheap for a reason.

Deceptive billing and zero empathy for single parents

I am extremely disappointed with APOLLO Insurance. They pressure you into signing up for a policy weeks before your actual move-in date under the guise of "landlord requirements," but completely fail to warn you that they will start their billing cycle immediately. Because of this deceptive timeline, I was hit with back-to-back monthly charges within a few weeks of moving in, completely disrupting my budget and charging me double in one month. As a single mother navigating an income transition on disability benefits, this unannounced mid-month withdrawal caused a direct financial emergency for my family's basic needs. When I called their customer service team to explain the situation and politely ask to move my billing date to the 1st of the month to match my rent cycle, they completely refused to help. They showed zero empathy, hidden behind corporate scripts, and left a vulnerable family stranded.

Somewhat deceptive

Somewhat deceptive. They asked what insurance company i looked at had the lowest price and what the coverage was.. i provided the information, and they gave me a lower price.. Great.. or at least i thought so. Once I signed up and checked the coverage, all the amounts were considerably lower. I canceled immediately and will probably have to fight to get my intial payment returned.. not a happy camper about this.

Total scam

Total scam. The site won't accept a back-up credit card payment method. There is no phone number to contact them, only a chat bot that doesn't even deal with specific issues. They hook you in with "Too good to be true" pricing. Then they gouge you, then you're unable to get out.

They are absolutely scammer

They are absolutely scammer. I got insurance for my rental unit and after a year that I vacated the house, so no longer I needed the insurance for that unit, they charged me $108 cancellation policy .The policy that was not told beforehand and there was not any transparency from them. Scamming gets a lot of shapes on these days, and some of them are registered and licensed to do it just like Appllocover.com

They do “legal “fraud with their online…

They do “legal “fraud with their online insurance quote. I requested a tenant quote and mentioned there would be 3 students living in the apartment. I received an instant quote which was 10-15% better than our current insurance coverage cost. I agreed and paid the amount. Once I paid the amount, I received a prompt to add 2 other people’s name and information. Once I tried to add my room mates, the price jumped 100% of the original quoted price for 3 people. That was insane! I called to speak with an agent. They don’t have any staff basically, they want you to chat for “customer service and support “. Long story short, I had to cancel the insurance right away since it was too high and they forcefully charged me a “cancellation “ fee although my insurance would’ve started a month after. This is ridiculous and rip off. I would NEVER recommend anyone to deal with these scam*rs
