“Insurance Sold with Budget Direct. The challenge is modifying Sold to Solved
“Insurance Sold with Budget Direct! “
Thats the easy part. Modifying Sold to Solved is the hard part.
We have a home insurance claim for a damaged garage door going back to last February. I paid the excess to the company promptly, and was subsequently contacted by a designated Builder to attend, assess damage , and derive a scope of work for quotation. The process took three subsequent visits, each spaced about a week apart. At the end of the third visit we received an automated response from Budget Direct to say we will receive an update after 10 business days. No contact was received at The 10 day milestone, so I after my call to them I subsequently learned verbally that my claim had been accepted.
At this stage I was thinking OK, we now have a green light to get repairs under way.
About three days on I received an initial contact from another Budget designated builder, who wanted to initiate the same process as before. After some clarification we subsequently learned the second builder was being asked to do a “desk top assessment and quote” based on what we presume is the scope of works produced by the first builder.
We have not seen the scope of works, despite requesting one.
We are now at day 78 since the accident. They have my $5000 excess payment and I am out of pocket a further $660 for emergency repairs to make safe the area, pending attendance by Budget Direct.
Frequent phone calls to Budget Direct receive the same response. “They are waiting for the builder to respond to a request for an amended scope of works”.
I have also contacted the builder directly for an update, and they say “waiting for approval from Budget Direct”
If you are contemplating taking out insurance with Budget Direct, think carefully. All insurance products are untested until you need them. Forget the TV advertising!
It’s a myth.
Our saga is ongoing. I intend to publicise our progress for the benefit of the unwary.
