Our experience was highly disappointing…
Our experience was highly disappointing due to poor planning and lack of flexibility. The itinerary felt very much like a conveyor-belt, one-size-fits-all package, with little effort to tailor it to our needs as a family of 4 with 2 young children (ages 2 and 7).
We were expected to drive 4-5 hours per day, which is not enjoyable or practical with small kids. On top of that, we were scheduled to catch a 5-6am ferry from Vancouver Island just to return the RV by 8-9am. Completely unreasonable and unnecessarily stressful. As visitors from overseas, we were unaware that ferry bookings needed to be made well in advance (we booked 2 days in advance and the time spots were fully booked). This could easily have been flagged or discussed during planning.
The itinerary also didn’t allow enough kilometres for the trip, and we were penalised for exceeding the limit, even though we followed the planned route with no deviations. Again, this points to poor planning.
Overall, the experience was unpleasant and stressful from start to finish. We even had to book additional campgrounds ourselves to break up the long driving days. Communication was lacking, the agent was defensive rather than helpful, and the entire process felt rushed and impersonal.
A very disappointing experience and certainly not one we’d recommend.
