It starts with an interesting and well constructed wine list but the outstanding feature was the customer service on a relatively small first order. The carrier didn’t perform well (broken bottle and broken promises!) but the Ratcliffe team handled things very well indeed. Attentive. Considerate. Concerned. Responsive. It got them a follow on order as a result.

Very strange (and annoying) that LV could not give me, an existing customer, a car insurance renewal quote. The process involved reapplying for a new quote which then applied an “existing customer) discount. The insurance agent could give no coherent explanation other than “technical reasons”. LV was saved by eventually providing a new quote which was very competitive (4 stars) when it would have been very easy to go elsewhere as a disgruntled existing customer (1 star). Hence 2.5 stars rounded down. A poor experience overall.

Stay away from the "prepaid" full tank fuel option with Sixt! It was sold at check in as a "very good option" because it would be cheaper than refuelling locally before return. We were told to bring the car back with an empty tank. As it turned out, the charge levied (including IVA) was 114 euros. The total capacity of the fuel tank of our Renault Clio was 42 litres. At local prices outside the airport at the time 42 litres would have cost around 75 euros - even if the tank had been completely empty. I have written three times to the Sixt Customer Relations team but not received a satisfactory explanation as to why the amout prepaid was more than 50% higher than the cost of the fuel needed to fill an empty tank. The comnpany relied, in each answer, on "you signed the contract". Don't purchase the prepaid fuel option however hard it is sold by the agent - it's just throwing your money away (and Sixt will catch it!). Really disappointing both in the way the option was sold and the poor response of the customer services team.
